  • In this video, I'll show some of the best places to stay in Sardinia. Before my first trip to the Italian paradise, I was unsure - where to stay in Sardinia?
I wanted to stay in a nice city of a certain size, so I had more than just a couple of restaurants to choose from each night, but I also wanted to stay close to the beaches that have made Sardinia a famous travel destination.
Ultimately, that narrowed it down: I had to stay in either Alghero or Olbia as I was flying into Northern Sardinia from Denmark.
In this video, I'm travelling to Sardinia and doing my best to help you understand the differences between Alghero and Olbia.
Where to stay in Sardinia? I'll let the video talk for itself...

Alghero is best. The old town is a fantastic place to be when the sun sets. Maria Pia beach is ok but the main attraction is the atmosphere of the city itself.

I think I agree - Alghero is awesome, but don't let the people of Olbia know I said that 😀 Thanks for your comment 🇮🇹

Hey! Well done and thank you.
Do you know if beaches should be booked beforehand? Im travelling to Olbia this September.

Thanks for your comment. Hmm, I'm not sure if I understand the question, to be honest. Do you mean like the sunbeds at the beaches, or..?

I read somewhere that this summer, because of the huge amount of tourists travelling to Italy, beaches decided to put a maximum number of visitors per day and if you want to visit a beach, you should book it and pay (?) 72 hours before. Is this right?

@@kfirml6702 Oh, I see! I haven't heard about that and didn't experience it in Sardinia this summer. I was also in the Amalfi Coast + Sorrento last summer, and it wasn't a thing there either, even though it's an area of Italy that is incredibly busy in Summer.

I will have a week (7 nights) to stay on Sardinia. There is so much to see around the coast of the entire island. Is it reasonable to try and drive around the island for a week's stay and see the sights? If so, any suggested locations to base myself as I travel around the island? Thanks so much for such outstanding helpful information!

Thanks for your kind words! It's a tricky question. I would narrow it down and maybe book 2-3 hotels in different areas. Sardinia IS a pretty big island, so I would be afraid I was putting too much on the itinerary if I were to drive around the whole island in just 7 days. I would probably rather ensure I got the most "bang for my buck" in the chosen areas instead of trying to see it all. Does that make sense? ✌️
