  • hi there.
here i am scratching (still a bloody beginner) with the numark pt01 on a little beat i put together on my pocket operator 33, the k.o! (sampler)
    - the case for it is by beatmakersboutique
    - i wrapped it myself.
unfortunately, i'm currently unable to film the longer videos i had planned. other things require my priority right now.
but here is a small sign of life from me to say: thank you.
    see you soon,
    derby

Glad to see you’re still scratching!
I bought a pt01 over the holidays and bought the koala sampler your recommended me awhile ago (not sure if you remember)
Can’t recommend koala enough! So many great beats and tunes have been with that over the last few years and the pt01 goes great with it!
Hope to see some of your longer vids :)

      @@maximumnonplusultra❤thanks!
Since one of my videos blew up and I gained so many subscribers, I've been struggling with my uploads because, foolishly, I feel some sort of pressure to perform. I don't want to entertain my viewers less than what they've already seen from me. It's difficult and somehow silly.

As someone who has to learn scratch from beginning is the numark necessary? Or something to pair nicely with the Pocket operator like the sc500 or sc1000

    • @derbymachtsachen
      @derbymachtsachen  Před 2 měsíci +2

i am planning a video about exactly this topic - comparing the sc500, the sc1000, and two portable turntables. to answer quickly: the feeling of a real vinyl is just on another level. the sc has two big advantages: they are very mobile and versatile because you can easily play your own samples etc., like a serato/timecode vinyl. the flaw is they are very hard to play - the disc is very small and it doesn't turn/spin, so you don't have a good point to check where the sample starts/ends, etc. so it's pretty much a "feeling" thing. i probably did it in the worst way and started with the sc500 without ever having a real big 12-inch vinyl under my hands. i think it's logical that with a 12-inch, you probably have the most control, and it's somehow the most forgiving.
the scs are really hard to get as well. so, if you want to learn how to scratch or just want to scratch without being hyper-mobile, go for a nicely modded portable turntable like the numark pt 01 scratch or the reloop spin. i got mine via ebay for cheap and gave them those mods, which in my opinion are necessary: a new, thicker belt for around $3, a new solid metal plate for about $80-100, and a jesse dean fader for about $60-80. with these mods, it's really big fun to scratch on them. without mods, it's a bit fragile, the vinyl tends to jump/skip, and the stock faders are also kind of crappy.

@@derbymachtsachen No idea how much this substantial answer means to me thank you for the reply! The information in this one reply has given me more than what I’ve found for days looking. It is a shame that the portable turntables are always out of stock. Thank you so much for your experience about it

@@Haddosan i've learned so much from youtube that it genuinely warms my heart when i can share knowledge with others. it's a fantastic aspect of youtube that i love. i'm glad if i could assist you! it can be quite tedious to gather basic information when you're not yet immersed in the subject - that's something i'd like to illustrate in future videos, for beginners and anyone interested. many people don't even realize what great opportunities there are for getting started - i always dreamed of scratching, but i thought i needed a very expensive turntable that requires a fixed place, a mixer, etc. - for which i simply don't have space in my small studio.
!!! as far as i know, a new batch will be released on june 10 at 9pm CET time !!!
      (see www.portablismgear.de)!
i recommend _exactly_ refreshing your browser at that time (smash the f5 button from 8:59 on) and immediately paying with a credit card(!).
if you're too slow during the checkout process, you might miss out on getting the item in your cart - it's almost happened to me.
that's how i've managed to get my 3 devices so far. but you have to be really quick; everything is gone in 2 minutes :( the demand is high, the output is low, its just one person putting all together / building the devices as far as i know :/

They were sold to new owners, but it's still operating like before is what I heard.
I believe it's the best option for musicians but who knows how long it will last.
