Let's travel to the city of San Francisco and let's visit Alcatraz Island which is located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States. Alcatraz island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison (1868), and a federal prison from 1933 until 1963.
Alcatraz reveals stories of American incarceration, justice, and our common humanity. This small island was once a fort, a military prison, and a maximum security federal penitentiary. In 1969, the Indians of All Tribes occupied Alcatraz for 19 months in the name of freedom and Native American civil rights. We invite you to explore Alcatraz's complex history and natural beauty.
San Francisco, in northern California, is a hilly city on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It's known for its year-round fog, iconic Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars and colorful Victorian houses. The Financial District's Transamerica Pyramid is its most distinctive skyscraper. In the bay sits Alcatraz Island, site of the notorious former prison.

You had a sunny nice day to visit the island. We went yesterday, April 9th and it was raining the whole time we were on the island and before we boarded the boat. LOL Still had a nice time seeing this piece of history and learning about it.

I do not think anyone lives on Alcatraz.. the guards must commute by boat (their boat, apparently)..

Nice to see the water tower got a face-lift. Last time I visited The Rock (in 2003), it was in pretty rough shape. Lots and lots of rust.

lol.. you made me laugh.. and yes, they do look at me as if I am a lunatic especially since the last few months I videotape myself as part of the introduction to each video (see my latest videos) and they walk by me and see me speaking to a camera, all alone.. I get a lot of strange looks and reactions..
That’s sux they have A block closed off, that area is unchanged since 1909. It saw very little use during the federal prison years. so many more things are open to see since I was last there in 1985. Thanks

Great video I was in San Fran 2 days ago the main reason I was there was because I really wanted to take this tour I get there and I go straight to the ticket booth and just so they can tell me they are sold out I guess I have to go back in the summer

Good question.. I would not take a pack lunch, no place to sit down and eat it.. there may be a coffee shop however..

that's where addiction puts you unfortunately.. generally you can only sympathize if you've been in their shoes at one point. Of course there are some rude people who smoke close vicinity to non-smokers which is definitely inconsiderate.

Why would you make it all black in white? We get the point I just wanna see how it looks in real life, not like all the other films and movies.
You are right, it should have been shot in color. I thought that black and white would add more to the intensity of the scene, it would look like the 50s and 60s when the prison was operating. I never used B&W ever again..
