theory 1: when they tried spawning herobrine the sound might have occurred from a deleted soundtrack since herobrine was a part of the code
theory 2: the game tried to initiate the herobrine code when the netherack was lit but failed/invalid since the herobrine code was removed this causing the error
theory 3: the leave sign, that might have been made by a developer or someone who worked with the mojang team before the world border was made because the world border was made for a reason and that reason being to prevent players from passing that point so when bonc messed with the code giving him access past the border, lead to him and liger seeing that terrifying sign

when your beyond the world border anything removed from the game in the past can still be there with you including the far lands man which could be the cause of the 3 block tall tunnels. The reason the world generation is so weird is because minecraft goes of a certin patern and if your beyond the world border the patern goes away and the world generation changes to what you saw and the farther you go the worse it gets. I say you keep going

I used a Mod to break the world border. I experienced the same things like in this video but after walking abt 2 hours i guess there were blocks in the sky each apart in a one block radius when i got threw them the world was flat , no water , no entitys just a flat world but then from a distance i saw a mountain Biome but out of nowhere it started to be foggy i couldnt see 1 bit here is where i left of bc i thought something was gonna happen
