I am Dharma Sankara Iyer.Ramachandran from Tirunelveli.I am running 72 years.I had the rare opportunity of hearing Flute legend Sri.Malis concerts few times.Once in Ooty ,mext in Madurai Lakshmi Sundaram Hall & if i remember right Devi Theatre performed for Om Vigneshwara Sabha accompanied by SriT.N.Krishnan & great Balakad Mani Iyer.All three are fantastic & fabulous.Kavadi chindhu is a rare & a kapi .Great artists & fabulous memories 🙏🙏🙏
Even the conventional sa -ni-dha-ni-pa sounds so fresh and sensual when Mali plays it.😊.And the life in that plane Ri , its timing , it's just like a ray of light escaped out of heaven.
The very first phrase of the Raga Aalap reminds one of the majestic Ata Thala Varnam in Sanakarabharanam. It straight away comes from his Heart un- like the '' Mind boggling - Brainy Gimmics '' of the present day Vidwans . You don't hear these kind of Music nowadays. Maali's silence in-between pharases speaks quite a lot than the Raga Vistaras. Here the Violinist T.N.K just remains a witness to the happening, himself soaking in the Raga . In my childhood, I heard Mali live once. That was the best flute recital I heard in my life. Then, he was accompanied on the violin by Dwaram Manka Thayaru. I remember connesurs had appreciated her patience while accompanying the Maestro.

Wonderful sankarAbharaNam. This extract is from a Bombay concert. Mr. MP Mohan uploaded this whole concert in Sangeethapriya several years ago but your recording here is much better. Please upload the entire concert as it contains many gems. In particular, there is a begaDA RTP where there is confrontation between Mali and TNK. I have uploaded this begaDA RTP in my youtube channel (a largely Mali channel).

Best of Carnatic, No Sir. Confrontation means oppose, fight, challenge and conflict in anger. Classical music ideal is juxtaposition.
