Using Crazy glue or fishing line
Are some methods for attaching moss
But crazy glue kills your moss
And fishing line doesn’t work for odd shapes.
The “Netting” method for attaching moss
    Is by far the easiest
And most effective method for attaching moss
And you probably already have the materials you'll need
    You'll need
    A pair of scissors
    A bath sponge
    Your choice of moss
    A twist tie
And the item that you plan on covering with moss

Glue works fine, the problem is people use way too much and they put it on the wrong spots of the plant. I have multiple different mosses and Anubias petite as well as Java ferns all glued to driftwood and dragonstone rocks and they’ve been growing great for years. I even glued my Christmas moss to my bonsai tree and now it’s a full tree. The main trick is to use the smallest amount of glue you can get away with, and make sure you’re not placing the “root” side on the glue itself, you don’t gotta glue the whole plant down, just find a safe spot on the plant where you can stick the plant to the dab of glue and let it hang

Great tip, I’ve just covered the top of a swim through mushroom ornament using this method, I was a bit worried I might have planted it a bit to dense but it’s probably a little more spread out than yours was so hopefully I should be fine.

I try my best to answer the most questions I can, however I do get over 100 a day. But I do reply. As far as the rust goes, once it attaches you can simply take it out. Rubber bands can rip and wont allow the moss to secure itself.
