Irene Acosta The director Diablo Cody (stage name) said she created Needy as kind of a representation of herself and Jennifer as the cool sexy “Diablo Cody” who she aspired to be so the name is fitting!

a real shame this movie, a bit better overall writing and it'd be absolutely amazing since the core concept is one i'd been dying to see make it on the screen

I can think of so many ways to utilize this quote it's basically a literary device.

But it was at the other end of the school and we had a pretty decent sized campus. Plus we were an outdoor school not an indoor school so it's not like smoke was spreading through the halls or anything. She kept an eye on it to make sure it wasn't anything serious lol, but I wont ever forget the looks on the other kids faces when she said that XD
But ya occasionally they ignored drills too because that school was running them way too often and I think teachers were starting to get annoyed.
The only sin you're wrong on is the "friendship" part, they pretty much go out of their way to tell you Needy is in love with her.

The only thing wrong with Jennifer’s body is how dirty their marketing team did them by making it seem like it was a movie for male fantasy. If you view it through the lens it’s supposed to be viewed through it’s a masterpiece. An elegant social commentary disguised as a campy shitty teen horror.
To be fair, lesbian relationships are often seen as just male fantasy fodder. So I see their reasoning, shitty and objectifying as it is.
What's weird is it does work as that. I mean...they are hot as hell. They're just engaging characters too. I mean, you'd have to be a misogynist to not want them to both....oooh. That's why it failed.
I mean, I'd say the way they sexualize a character who is supposed to be a teenager is pretty wrong. People come up with all kinds of excuses for it, but frankly, this movie didn't have to be set in high school. Can you imagine if the actress was an actual underage teenager?

This movie is a fantastic time capsule for 2000s edgy/emo/scene culture. It's so nostalgic, I love it.

I feel like your review would have been a lot different if you would have actually understood that Jennifer and Needy were in love with each other and the movie was about toxic friendships/competition in friendships and closeted lesbians.
It doesn't necessarily mean theyre closeted lesbians. I just got out of a friendship EXACTLY like jennifer and needy's and i was the Needy between us. We both are straight as hell but it was extremely toxic she didnt let me have any other female friend only male. And whenever i fall in love with a guy, she steps in to "eat him up" (steal him from me) 😂 when i confronted her for being a fake friend and being so damn insecure for doing what she did to me she answered exactly the way jennifer did with the "how can i be insecure im prettier than you"

Watched Jennifer's Body on a whim years after it came out. Not normally big into horror movies, but I remember finding it much more enjoyable than I thought I would-- oh crap, how did I forget JK Simmons was in this!?

Since a lot of the "inside jargon" was made for the movie, that prevents it from being dated since they only say things in this universe in a way that makes sense to them. They did this in Heathers.

The crank in this is shorter that a can opener of that style and there's no way to get the can between the cutting wheel and roller with out a lever. Also this is the CLASSIC shape of a pencil sharpener. Google it.

you can do what you want but in my opinion, it’s a generally bad idea to use this as any sort of movie critique or review.
There was one bar in a rural Minnesota town of 7,000+ people? As someone from that size town in the upper Midwest I can say there should be at least 10 bars in that town. Plus 2-3 liquor stores. And one of those would have a drivethru for off-sale.
This movie low key a guilty pleasure of mines. This came out when I had a huge crush on Megan Fox and the movie is not half bad. And that song "Through The Trees" is still on my playlist today lol
