Ok I'm stuck with my conversion. My supermig only has one wire. The euro torch has two wires (Red & Black) I see the original red connection on the supermig but where does the additional black wire on the Euro Torch connect to????
if I remember rightly I saw a post on Facebook about your exact issue a few months back and the chap discovered through trial and error that the black wire connected up to your original wire and he had to add a switchable power feed to the red wire of the new torch, what model welder are you converting?
@@seanmartinsrc8658 Thanks for the reply. It's a Supermig 180. After a deep dive I actually/eventually found the answer. I connected the spare wire (doesn't matter which one) to the main power cable, that attaches to the large brass cable feed of the Euro torch conversion. Which imitates the original Super mig trigger on the torch.
@Drew Hodge does your wire feed rate not change depending on what power you've got the welder set too?? if im understanding that correctly you'll essentially be running your wire feed at whatever power is coming out the end of the lance.
@@seanmartinsrc8658 I did wonder about that myself. The Supermig 180 standard torch uses the power travelling the length of the mig torch from the machine. The single wire on the original torch takes the power from the end of the gun and feeds that power back down the single wire as a trigger signal. It doesn't actually power the wire feed motor. I spent a couple of hours welding with the new Euro torch and it runs like a dream. Wire feed rate is adjustable as normal. I fitted a new stronger earth clamp. Dialed in the machine in less than a minutes. When I have more time I will replace the wire feed wheel but the old girl has years of life left.
@Drew Hodge that's ideal then mate 👌 when you think about it in the planest Manor yeah, no reason why if it was like that before it wouldn't work now 👍 glad you got it sorted mate and thanks for the info 👍 that might make my life easier in the future if I get a bigger machine and do the same upgrade 👌
I spent ages looking for info on where I should take power for the gas solenoid from, wish id watched you video to start with. Thanks
