Fingerprints At Home - An Easy How-To Guide

- In this video we take a quick look at how to take fingerprints at home. While it seems like a daunting task at first, it's really quiet easy.
We look at the basic information to fill out in the top portion, codes for things such as hair color, eye color, and race, as well as a quick overview on how to do the physical prints.
More art than science, the best way to learn to do the actual prints is to sit down with an ink pad and scrap paper. It's much easier than many people think, however due to individual differences there is some trial and error to see what works best for you.
The below is a complete guide published by the FBI on the criteria for fingerprints. It is overly in depth and can be used as a supplemental resource should people desire additional documentation and guidance on the process.

The 'don't overthink it' technique really works. I needed prints to apply for nationalization abroad, so I ordered the forms on amazon and went at it. Maybe spent like 20 mins? I just got my paperwork approved. Thank you so much!
Oh man, I'm glad I watched this video from you guys. I ordered my first suppressor from you guys a week ago and when I got my print kit in this morning I was rolling them, they looked 10x better than the example in this video but I was freaking out about some of the lines being heavier and some very slight smudges in some small areas. Thank God, now I know I can just send in one of the 5 cards I set aside 😆

@@maitrimeyer I ordered ink from Baby Center in Croatia, printed the form and did all my finger prints in one go. It took weeks to arrive in the mail, but they were accepted and I got the background back.
I hope to find inkpad in my remote village in Colombia tomorrow to submit all. The laws are changing here so getting harder to get visas. Didn’t need this 6

For those still stressed, this should be some encouragement: I have a scar on one of my fingers and the print is weird. Wrote "scar " in the corresponding box. I also smudged the 4 fingers at once box when handling the card, so I did that print around the smudges so my one fingertip wasn't all on. Again, they came back approved

I read that for any atf application, you have to fill out two cards and one has to go to the highest branch of your jurisdictional law enforcement. Is this true?

Will reason to be finger printed always be nfa transfer? If I efile a form 1 to manufacture a suppressor would I enter something else?
I already have a short barrel gun with suppressor. I have an ATF account and they have my fingerprints and pictures. I want to file a form 1 but not sure if I still need to do fingerprints and pictures again? Or will they simply use the ones on file?

I have a fingerprint card from UJIS-Central repository. There's a space for signature of person taking Prints and agency name /identification number.

On the reason fingerprinted, would it be different for a Form 1, on building a suppressor rather than purchasing one?
Use NFA Application
If they're accepting those prints in the video there's zero chance they're even looking at them lol. Don't smudge, roll your prints. Thank you for the video letting us know that the ATF doesn't really care. I know locally the Oklahoma State Bureau is very picky, as is the IRS with their print cards.
I was thinking the same thing. I just went through AT LEAST 10 cards to make sure you can see the stuff required on the back lol.

If they can lift a print off a shell case to put a person in jail finger printing yourself at home should be easy.... Or at least you would think it would be.. LOL Thanks for the info just found your channel while looking for a suppressor and just subbed...
Hello, I was hoping if you could help me. I live in Jordan and I need my police certificate from the US since I studied/ lived there for 2.5 years a few years back. Would the same apply to me? Can I do the fingerprints myself at home? And if so, who would sign the block "signature of official taking fingerprints"?

I found that too much ink/pressure is more of a problem than too little. It is easier to end up with a black impression than it is to get a white one.

No since no one “official” is doing them all mine have been accepted and approved fine this way

No. Don’t buy just print out on a regular paper.

@@ellajua2222 We applied as an individual without involvement of any agency. We had our thumbprints done at home by ourselves. So we left the ORI section blank. FBI approved and gave us clearance in the very first attempt.

I simply don't understand how this can be done at home without a witness verifying the prints belong to the person in question, what's to stop someone from using someone else's prints cuz they don't want their prints on file for an sbr or silencer?
There's no need for a witness to verify it, I don't think the ATF cares quite that much about it.

Check your state because some states its not valid if a law enforcement officer or local tax collector doesn’t issue your prints. In Florida you can’t do it by yourself
If something ever happens and in the evidence they find that the prints aren’t valid

How do you handle a missing finger tip? Is it necessary to give an explanation?
I believe you can just put an "X" --- on the back of the card there is instructions for amputations.
This video is great but I used it and sent my fingerprints to FBI for a background check and their rejection just reached me after two weeks of waiting and paying for the processing of the prints. So now I have to do it all again and I'm not sure how to get the prints done properly myself. I know you said ATF but just a heads up that this does not work for all prints requests apparently.
the ATF site states clearly: The fingerprint cards must be completed by your local law enforcement authority.

you have to be very careful. My prints got rejected despite making sure I do it well. The quality was low was what I was told :(
So do you then have to to restart the whole process or just send them another set of prints?
@@SemperSalam Yes, They send you a rejection and ask you to submit it again. Had to do everything again from start. Best way is to practice a lot on white paper before doing it on the actual form. Good luck!

Had to laugh, hearing the man say it doesn't matter if the prints are not perfect. I am on my third try with the FBI, last card I took the local police to help me get fingerprints, and FBI can't manage to read those, either! Maybe I should just tell them I am buying guns...

Lmao; that's not the most ridiculous reason for collecting someone's fingerprints... I have to provide my finger prints just to get a copy of my clean criminal record just to get a job.
It's not ridiculous at all. Considering the massive amount of gun violence in the US, of course they would check your fingerprints to see if you have a criminal history...frankly they should require a lot more from people wishing to buy guns or gun related accessories like silencers.

These fingerprints are terrible and would never be acceptable by FBI or RCMP.. There is absolutely no readable ridge detail..the extreme rolling technique is not used as shown..
