It would have been interesting if the pro-Palestine left mob had reached the rich elite left attending the gala. The theme was based on the book "The Garden of Time". The irony is obvious to those who understand what the book is about. The book is about a couple in a garden that is being attacked by a mob. The couple is high classed, and they cause the mob, which is described as consisting of men and women with soldiers interspersed, to pause by picking flowers in their garden. Eventually they run out of flowers, and the mob reach the garden. The analogy to the pro-Palestine mob trying to reach the Met Gala where people are paying ridiculous amounts to show how elite they are is incredibly apt.
