My trunk latch on my 01 Jetta broke yesterday, this made it super easy to fix it. Thanks for posting the video!
Awesome Bruce《☆》A bag of springs is essential to survival🤓👍🏾Eventually you will need one. Congrats on the fix & new ride. ZoomZoom Fahrfegnugen :*: Greetings from⛾Florida🤳my friend🤓🗣🔊☮✌👍🏾
Thanks BDOG. I don't dig through my bag-o-springs very often, but it's definitely good have around. I think I paid about $10 several years ago for the bag. The new ride is a nice little car but isn't exactly a rocket. My Hyundai was quicker lol.
Have a great weekend
Looks like a nice car. Good repair on the latch.
Thanks Joe. Other than needing a few little things, I think it's gonna be a pretty decent car. Time will tell and VW parts aren't cheap
Very good demo, Bruce... When the trunk was opened, it looked like King Kong staring down on you the whole time, hehe...Great job !!!
Thank you, fellow Albertan 👌🏾, thanks from Calgary
Hey! I don't think I've had a fellow Albertan comment on any of my videos. You aren't a member of any FB Jetta groups, are you?
Bruce L. No sir ahah, my girlfriend is a Volkswagen junky but hey, your video/s are extremely helpful 👊🏾
Nice fix Bruce! Looks like a decent car! 👍
Thanks Niamh! It seems decent so far, time will tell. It's no BMW... (I came sooo close to buying an X5)
Bruce L. Oooooh!! Very nice! That would have been interesting!! Parts are expensive though! 😩
And that's exactly what stopped me from buying it. I'm still considering one. I need an SUV. If I was smart, I'd get a Lexus...
I have a glass shop right down the street from me. They do good fast work as well. The Acadia has an expensive windshield due to the heads up display on the windshield. Everything else with them has been economical
Ya, anything like that makes the windshield expensive. I have a friend that has a 90's Jag with the heated widshield, HUD, rain sensors and some other stuff. It cost him close to $2500 to replace it a few years ago. I'll have to warn my sister, she has an Acadia that needs a new windshield.
I have liked those cars since the late 80s. They seem to be nice quality but do have little issues. Any time an engineer has to overly complicate a mechanism it seems doomed from the start. I just bought an 07 Ridgeline to replace my 84 Nissan Pickup, I am sure I have many of these kind of repairs ahead of me, also!
I've kinda always liked them too. I had an 89 that I gave to my nephew when my arthritis got bad in the knees. It was a standard and driving it was pretty hard on me. VW seems to specialize in making simple things complicated, I think all German designed stuff is like that. My cousin just traded in his 08 Ridgeline for a 2020. He loved his old one but he had abut 500k on it. You just can't beat Honda for reliability. Ya, I'm sure you'll have a few little things that will need to be fixed but nothing crucial.
How's she goin'? Nice repair. Too bad about the micro switch not fitting, but when push comes to shove, who cares right!!! Looks like a nice car!!! Take care!!
Thanks Mike. I probably could have made the micro switch fit if I had played around with it more, but I figured that since I had a new latch on the way, it wasn't worth it.
Have a great rest of the weekend
Good fix as we dont use the trunk too often anyways.
Pretty much just for hauling groceries, anything more than that gets put in the truck
Hooking up that safety release cable is a pain. All they needed to do was make that cable a few inches longer, but nooooooo
Interesting, maybe it will last ling time, mobey saved.
I can't see any reason it won't last. Having the spring outside the mechanism keeps it out of the way of the other parts that knocked it out of place originally, I think.
Knowing how to fix things yourself saves a huge amount of money. Nice demo Bruce. 🙂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Ian. Yes, it certainly does. I'd be broke if I had to pay to have someone do all the things I do. That or I'd get smart and buy a new vehicle with a warranty lol
