How Surface Aeration Works

G'day. In this video I explain how surface aerators work. Principally they help aerate dams/ponds by encouraging good gases like oxygen into the water, while relieving not-so-good gases like hydrogen sulphides. As we all know, oxygen is the backbone to any aquatic system, keeping fish, plants, zooplankton and "good" bacteria alive. By giving your dam/pond more oxygen, you can better support these organisms. When that happens the "good" bacteria get to work eating any algae, weeds, and sludge, and removing the murkiness from your water. Combined with a monthly biological (probiotic) treatment like Biostim (lovemypond.com...) and your dam/pond will take care of itself.
