Looking back I can see why they made Marius, Lestat's maker in the movies because even though he wasn't in the books, he might as well have been because he taught Lestat a lot about being a vampire so in a sense he was Lestat's adoptive maker. Marius also scolds Lestat about his childish attitude early on. I hope we get too meet him in the TV show.
@@mare2723 What I meant to say is that in the books Marius wasn't Lestat's maker but he was in a sense because he taught Lestat about being a vampire.
I can see what you mean. Marius wasn’t his maker but he was his teacher and Lestat knew Marius wouldn’t deny him knowledge. Brings us to Lestat ‘s childhood in France -his father being practically illiterate and his mother educated but keeping that life to herself. Then the monastery ,wanting an education and being bought back home ..his mother selling her jewels to get him a horse and guns to placate him which leads to him being the “Wolf Killer”-which leads to Magnus since it’s what attracts Magnus to Lestat..Magnus his vampire father -the ancient alchemist-who jumps into the fire taking all his knowledge with him leaving Lestat once again to learn on his own. Which then brings Lestat to Armand who also refuses Lestat which ultimately leads Lestat to Marius. Marius is the only one Lestat can always turn to no matter what.
@mare2723 you must not read or comprehend comments before you comment🤨
Anne is a true historian. She is getting all the history correct. Like real life history and how civilization rose. Even bringing up the druids of the ancient Germanic Tribes! I'm in even more love now. With the things I know about how civilization began... when, where, and who. Marvelous Anne!!!! If you love history you will enjoy the longer bits that don't seem to fit to the narrative... they fit into Marius's narrative so that's why Anne included it. Because it's important to Marius.
Marius was my favorite vampire (other than Lestat) & I remember liking Blood & Gold the most of the vampire books that came after the original trilogy. It's been over 20 years since I read any of these novels so the recap was enjoyable
When you mentioned Marius going on for three pages long about Christianity, I am currently reading Pandora for the first time and was just talking to my vampire-loving friend about the opening chapaters and how I really don't care what the pen on paper sounds like which Pandora goes on about for like 2 pages. Anne was so herself from start to finish. That's why we love and miss her
Between Rice and Tolkien I can happily read multi page descriptions of the blandest stuff lol
People may not like Queen of the Damned but I do and have the soundtracks when it came out, both of them, the score album of the background music and the singing. The deleted scene of Marius meeting Pandora and Armand at the Hollywood sign should’ve stayed in the film.
I’m no novelist but my idea for my own vampires is, those converted below the age of 25 will continue age till then. Those older will stop right where they r. Scientifically confirmed that 25 is when people r at *full* mental maturity.
They deleted all the scenes that linked the movie together properly
It’s an incredible soundtrack. But the movie was so drastically different.
the movie is so bad, but Aaliyah was great as Akasha, if only it was more from the book.
@@snakey319 are you serious? Aalyah's acting was so bad. I still like the movie, but most of the acting was terrible, especially from her.
I appreciate his inner sense to flee. Even escape dangerous situations that would have ended his life centuries ago.
I enjoy the Vampires and others in Anne Rices stories more than all the others
the think I enjoyed his story the most as it was packed with art and history. He was a vampire of very fine taste and extremely wise
Imagine being able to watch history play out in such a way and then laugh at how the mortals are actually taught history, like how much of recorded history is true and how much of it was written to make us believe a certain perspective. Being a 2000 year old vampire you'd know the real truth but would be unable to correct it, like explain what REALLY happened and what those times were like. It's not like you could say 'well, I know because I lived through the Roman Empire and through the medieval times....'
That'd drive me crazy.
I liked that the movie Marius looked like a Roman senator. If he’s 2,000 yrs. Then he turned during the Roman Empire.
I'm a amateur writer myself, and I write about vampires in all my "works". I love everything that comes from the vampire's theme.
I've played games, tabletop rpgs, listened to music and the list goes on.
And so, Anne Rice's books are like a gold mine to me.
I've read Interview with the vampire, a part of Queen of the Damned and I'm reading Vampire Lestat by now.
I've watched the movies a lot and much more. Her universe is lovely, dark and sexy and every word makes the scene feels real (specially the gore scenes).
She was a master of her craft, and now you made me want to read about Marius.
Thank you, and I hope Anne Rice's gifts can help me become a better and more creative writer.
Again, Thank you.
you forgot about khayman who was the first person turned into a vampire after akasha and enkil, a little bit older than the twins
He also is the one who turned the twins if im not mistaken. And created a ton of vampires in an attempt to overthrow akasha and enkil.
@@johnfinch621 ye because Akashi and a lil were crazy from that demon ghost creature that went inside them. I remember them saying something like they had to spread it out because too much in Akashi and ankil made there bloodlust insatiable
@Rickey Hayes II yeah but Khayman also at that point basically hated them even when they were human because of the things they made him do to the twins
@@johnfinch621 yea he did especially after he was forced to go snatch them up and imprison them. And snatch out the eyes of one and the tounge of the other. Than put them on those rafts in the ocean. I think he was done with them after he saw what they became afterwards
Anne started this Series after the death of her 5yrs old Little Girl, Anne was drinking quite a bit ( and who could blame her, I would have lost my mind ) now They are both together in peace. ❤️💔❤️
Blood and gold is one of if not the, favorite one of all I've read of them and I've read all of them vampire chronicles and new tales of the vampires as well
I always felt Marius was in true sense Lestat's real father and mentor despite being 1800 years apart from eachother Lestat even resembles Marius in that they are both direct descendents from the Keltoi peoples of ancient Gaul so he's Lestat's great ancestral father
I am addicted to your storytelling. Makes me remember why I was so fascinated with Anne Rice vampire franchise in high school.
Marius was always one of my favorite vamps. Blood and Gold is my fave book, then comes Interview w/ the Vampire.
Thank you so much for the effort and passion you put into these videos. Especially the vampire chronicles related videos.🖤
All of her vampires were fabulous. All get books should be highly valued they were so well written
thank you for making these! its so refreshing to find someone who loves these characters as much as I do
Thank you for putting these together!
I like Marius. Good conversationist and friendly vampire.
Bro I may love your Harry Potter Channel, but I love this one even more it's so good!
Marius has always been my favorite. Even more then Lestat.
No worries. I know the feeling of burn out just a bit on reading. But yeah, like I said before, he’s still my favorite. Since Blood and Gold gave more details on his life. And yeah, it felt much on his life. Also, he is also mention within the Pandora story too. Don’t worry, if you read Pandora by the time you get to her story, she mention of hearing about him and meeting him after that. In which, it’s a different telling on her side of the story.
Excellent story and excellent summarizing I don’t have time to read the book right now cause I’m working my adds off but I’m looking to order copies of the series. Your videos are well done and letting me get a better idea of the story behind the movie while I wait lol
Love this video! He is my favourite in the Vampire Chronicles.
You got a new subscriber here! Yah, ❤️ all things vampires 🧛♂️ 😎 🤣
I’m so glad these videos exist - it’s been nearly 20 years since I read my first Anne Rice vampire novel as a pre-teen. It was a bit mature, maybe, but the world-building was sooo engaging and fascinating!
I like how Marius for the first hundred year shown his fangs and terrorized his victims before drinking their blood
I love how at 3:14 you used the city image where they filmed much of the Nosferatu remake 😂 great job if that was an incident.
I just discovered this channel.
I'm absolutely enjoying so many of these videos.
You've done a fabulous job in the retelling of the stories.
I'm definitely subscribing.
P.S. I don't blame Bianca for leaving. She doesn't want to be his "Second Choice/You'll due".
I have just discovered this channel. I look forward to seeing many more of these videoes.
Blood and gold is one of the best vampire Chronicles books out there
Out of all of the rice novels I have read blood and gold is hands down my favorite just based on the descriptions of his artwork not to mention all the other details
Marius..... I was briefly infatuated in him... Ach the glory of puberty
These are wonderful ❤ thank you!
You should read Pandora. It is the story of Lydia later Pandora. Marius is very prominent in it.
Please do more on the Ann Rice Vampire books, PRETTY PLEASE ‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Bro I appreciate your videos. Thank you
Thank you Zac, i had to read 4 books for this video, so the compliment really does mean a lot.
I'm finding Anne Rice Latter in life I'm 47 and I started with Memnock the Devil and I have gone through 11 of her books back to back since.
keep making content and you'll have alot of subscribers in no time . you've got the potential
he is amazing brutal brilliant talented.
husband of Pandora, boyfriend of Armand.
he is my favorite
I love stories with real depth to the back stories makes it feel closer to how the world is and that is the vampire chronicles to a T
Marius is my favorite of all the Vampires in Anne Rices books
I cant imagine all the things some vampire whos lived 500+ years has seen, after 2000+ years theyre pretty much invincible, makes em seem like they were never even human and theyre completly supernatural like a demon or something like that 🙄
All your videos are dope 👌
Great story/ video!!
I love blood and gold they revealed his powers and other abilities.
My gorgeous, child of millennia, beloved, Marius.I Adore him ♡
marius is my favorite charc in the lore.
Marius has always been m favorite vampire his character really is that of an elder immortal
It’s been a while since I’ve read Blood and Gold but I believe Khayman was older. I think he was the one who turned maharet and mekare. 🤷♂️either way love the content. Great vids and keep up the good work
Awesome new channel!! Marius is one of my favorites.
Im reading Prince Lestat now. Love this
I gotta disagree with you there hun.
I enjoyed the historical accuracy in these books.
I guess it’s down to personal taste.
I would have been happy if half of the book was about historical happenings.
I also enjoyed the subject of this video thanks for posting.
Ahh.. another suggestion. The vampires from The Empire of the Vampire book
I needed this
AWE... man good job.
Great video!
This was quite interesting. Wether these people existed or only created for Anne’s books , they are still such interesting characters. I’m quite enjoying these . 😊
Such a nice lil channel!!!
Thank you ☺️
What about pandoras chronicles? Love her!
Pandora is a little more tricky, I’m having an artist draw her character as there’s no references of good quality online
Keep up the good work. Did you do Bram Stokers for Dracula??? Thank you you made me pull out the old books
It’s on the list don’t worry! My personal favourite is vampire chronicles, Blood and Gold is a fantastic book!
@@VampireFolkloreVideos woohooo!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Can't wait! But there's no rush, ok? We'll be here when you're ready. 🙏🏻🥰❤️
Thankyou I subscribed
PLEASE DO SANTIAGO NEXT
You mentioned in this video “those who must be kept”. Idk if you have watched the amc interview with the vampire, but in one of the episodes, Lestat, says those words. As i am barely starting to read the book, I’m not sure of their significance yet.
Thank you
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I thought I had subscribed already but I hadn't I just did lol
Something curious about, I have not read books yet. When Akasha devours the Greek one is she still like stone or has she like temporary not become stone and does it.
probably one of the best vampires in fictional history, I hope we see him on screen soon. also who should play him? I was thinking Lee Pace.
I love him
Can you do a video about Magnus the vampire who made Lestat?
I love marius
will we see Blood and gold tv series
I think Brando Lee would have played Lestat brilliantly
@@tylerwhitney3443 possibly, however sometimes it doesn't work to mess around with the original film, I may be wrong but I think they done a series about the crow and it didn't work, I don't know lol
"The flames from the pyre licked the walls made from reclaimed brick"
Name like that is meant to scream at you "LOOK, THIS GUY WAS A ROMAN!!!". As if "Marius" alone wasn't enough, author went ahead and straight up added "Romanus", lmao.
Vincent Perez is amazing as Marius de Romanus. So sexy. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, it's beautiful & amazing. Thank you for making the effort to make sure this packed full of tantalising information for everyone. It's very appreciated. I hope you will take time for yourself now. Be kind to yourself.
Isn’t there a book in the series called Pandora that heavily features Marius? Or no?
Los vampiros son geniales y especiales
My feverte book
marius with short hair is MUCH more likely as a roman aristocrat, a society who would have seen long hair as barbaric. i know vampires retain their appearance from when they were turned, & I cannot remember if his time in captivity led to hair growth before turning, but I think QOTD movie had a more accurate "roman" version of him
Marius was kept by the Druids until his hair grew out, so his hair was long; also, Anne Rice stated that he was kidnapped by the Druids for his blonde blue-eyed appearance. You're correct that he does appear more Roman in the movie, but most people who saw the movie never read the books, so not sure why they chose to change his appearance so drastically. Marius is my fav of all the vampires, next to Lestat.
I read The Vampire Armand and got big Paedo vibes from Marius.
Wasn't there a book about his mother after he turned her and they went their separate ways? I remember it was really short, and I don't remember if it involved him at all.
Where is the part 2 for this??
I didn't read blood 🩸 and gold gotta check ✅ that one out
I hope hope hope the vampire LestatSS series blood off gold and vampire Armnd
Why was the jewelry and cloths on Enkal and Akasha statue white?
So you did leave out an ENTIRE and very IMPORTANT part of the dynamic between Marius and Armand. Like literally most of the relationship. Maybe it will be covered in the life of Armand…
I felt like I was repeating myself by putting out the same information again. They’re such a big part of each other’s lives that I tried to make it different for both videos
@@VampireFolkloreVideos You are right. After watching Armand I initially almost felt like you left so much out again. But you did include enough and leave out enough that people will still want to read and also get surprised. I really like your videos. Good work. Great reviews.
These are the vampires, not the sparkly teenage fops, nor the frustrated “originals” on tv
Im 3,000 Years old!
I feel like you genuinely tried but only read the books once. You left out parts of life that should have been added and misrepresented parts of his life. But thank you for the video
I still don't understand how Akasha was overwhelmed by her enemies. How could they kill her without hurting themselves?
Akasha may have been the strongest but in comparison to Khayman, Maharet and Mekare, there wasn't much in it. She even says it in the second to last chapter of the QOTD, it may take her a lot longer to destroy the older vampires but she would stop at nothing to do so.
@@VampireFolkloreVideos I kinda had a feeling that was it. I forgot about that passage in the book thx.
Louis killing that bastard Santiago was the best bit of Interview With A Vampire!
Agreed
