Why was it every other Sunday? I guess I am so used to (when I watched TV) to count on seeing British comedy every Sunday night. They probably still play As Time Goes By as they have for years, decades even. Then there was The Vicar of Dibley (a personal favorite), Keeping Up Appearances, Moone Boy, IT Crowd, Spy and many others.
A shame PBS came out on regular TV once they went digital, with a channel specific for kids, while still having kids programing most of the day on the regular PBS channel and not have a British Comedy channel set up for that purpose. The arts and crafts/travel channel was kind neat though.

I understood only a little English as I started to watch this on CZcams and now I actually understand what a nippy is))
And a lack of political correctness is just so-so wonderful. They portrayed a gay man, a Jewish man, a common girl, a divorcy, an horny old man, an idiotic upper class man and they were free to make very borderline jokes about all of them.

His wife died, so he quit acting. Then he died 2 months later. They replaced him because they had no choice really.

It Pays To Advertise was his last show. He died 6 weeks after his wife, in Sept. Of 1972. She had been sick for a while and his last episodes he was suffering from depression. They had been married for over 50 years.

I'm 37 and watching this in 2020 and still laugh my arse off. So much better than the unfunny PC BS we get today.
