- Our troops were ordered to wipe out the partisans, with supported by machine guns and panzer. Victory seems to be right in front of us. But our flank was suddenly attacked, lads suffered heavy casualties in a matter of seconds! We turned to the flank to counterattack, I fired with my rifle to cover our comrades who rushed to the enemy. But then a bigger disaster struck - Our charging comrade fell down screaming, but the gunshots came from behind us! Then immediately there was a second victim soon! We looked back in a panic and saw the scene that chilled us to the bone - Many enemies appeared behind us! So close that the enemy's guns were about to poked our ass! Our bros got shot one after another and fall down sprawling the boots, I raised my rifle in horror...
Surprising the Germans got anywhere with loses like this.
Real life is different than hollywood. In real life they cry about the Germans slaughtering them.
Well, they did lose about 500-600k men to partisan warfare in the Soviet Union alone, plus ten times that in combat against the regular Red Army.

My father was a lieutenant colonel during the second world war and a fighter pilot who shot down many Americans and Britains. He was a member of the German airforce. Leader was Göring. He survived the war and obtained several awards (iron cross etc.). What I cannot understand is the way how Wehrmacht and Waffen SS are portrayed in English war movies as fighters who are shot down by everybody. I suppose for the many defeats Wehrmacht and SS brought over English troops (battle in Hürtgenwald). That's the English way to maintain heroism.

That would be a pretty short movie the 2000 people who died in Pearl Harbor where the people trap in the ships. Meh, it was a Pz Mk III mockup with what I am assuming is a 37mm "door-knocker" gun, hardly doing much against infantry. Couldn't pen armor, didn't have much of an HE shell...
it was likely an Ausf F or G as it had a short 37. The gun lacked penetration and the tank's armor was 30mm all around

Partisans operated under tremendous disadvantage and showed great courage and determination.
I thought German soldiers could wipe out these disorderly rabble in five minutes. But they turned the tables so unbelievable. What the fuck!

@@SSSoldat Well, I was surprised too. I was advised not to hide behind a tree in the Army, and mentioned this to my dad. My dad mentioned this based on his experience. Note that he was fired upon by Germans in North Africa prior to WW2. Later he was badly wounded and lost his eye. I never mentioned "the Panzer". I guess that is one of your SS units. Which SS unit were you attached to?

The Soviet partisans had some degree of anti-semitism, but Commissars and other Party functioners were still trying their best to promote internationalism, because, without aid of the guerrillas, those Jews - the Soviet citizens - were doomed to die quickly. Which meant not only more deaths of Soviet citizens, but also loss of good fighters and helpers. Armia Krajowa was anti-Semitic and nationalistic to the core. They hated Jews and Ukrainians/Belarus no less than Nazis did.

That said partisans were a lot more active in the east than the west prior to d day. But the local population got slaughtered in their millions in a brutal tit for tat. Nasty business. Many did not. But to think that your trained German soldier was invincible is dumb. This is reality. If you get caught off guard even a child could take your life.
