I never thought that a cooking show can be made so beautiful, the chemistry between two main actor and actress are so real. thru the whole show, I was thinking when I can enjoy making food and also want to try to do some dishes by myself. Well done.
I have never seen food presented so beautifully as in this movie. Thank you. I enjoyed the build-up (happiness) and let-down (sadness, where I cried) of each episode. But what I especially loved was the interaction between Ethan and Song. Their love was portrayed so vividly and yet not out of taste. I would love to watch other movies with both of them as the main characters, they make the perfect couple! Thank you for putting this on youtube so that I could watch it here in America.

The food was like ten courses and it was divine. This Is Not What I Expected is a movie about a chef and a foodie CEO. You might like it if you like this drama.
I loved them together too. The food segments was done so well that you could almost smell and taste them. For a while I thought that it was going to be a sad ending.
I am utterly disappointed that Elise didn't get a heftier punishment and Junbin didn't get his doctor's license revoked and end up in jail. They just let their crimes slide by like it was nothing. And what also baffles me is the fact that Qianfan allowed Junbin to continue treating him after knowing the truth. On another note, I've got to say Hats off to Ruan Jingtian. That scene where Qianfan was in pain after taking the pills; wow!! The execution of his acting is on another level. Ruan Jingtian's acting is exceptional. I'm happy Qianfan and Kesong got the happy ending they deserved, although it was a bit rushed but Elise and that doctor did NOT deserve no happy ending. Their ending was supposed to be them being in jail!! This ending was not realistic at all!!!!

I’m very disappointed with the rush ending after they dragged it out for awhile, the evil Elise and Junbin didn’t get any punishment for their crimes. Is this drama tries to show the reflection of our society or just encourage people to do bad things and no consequences of their actions what so ever?!!
It said Elise was in jail but was pardoned by Oliver's letter since there was no "major lasting effects" to him. Baffles me that he pardoned her. The doctor on the other hand should have 1000% had his license revoked (at the minimum) and put in prison. That was completely unrealistic. Then there was the random music video/dance a thon at the end 😂 Unfortunately, it was a rushed ending after the storyline being dragged on for 39 episodes. Pretty disappointing.
He dressed elegantly in one or two scenes. His final outfit matched the party desserts, btw. I think Oliver should hire him as Elise's replacement as General Manager of Yuxuan.
My first ever experience to watch a chinese drama series, thanks to English subtitles, i finished whole series in 3 days😂. The only disappointment was Elise's and morally corrupt Doctor happy ending, i really appreciate a season 2, love from canada❤

I'm not satisfied. I need my fierce team to go back and win the food comp in a S2! Who is with me? This chemistry needs another season where we don't have all of these nasty villains too. I also want to see the Uncle get a happy ending with our resident sweetie, Nina. The rest of them can play their part too. I just want more romance and fun, and I REALLY want to see her compete without the wolves knocking on her door every time she does it.

I agree with you. The name you came up with is hilarious. I stopped to watch it when the movie transformed into a musical. Hell for me is to be forced to watch musicals all the time. I believed I would become crazy and lose my mind.
I really love this drama. We didn't get to see all the screen romance between the main leads, but we can't deny their chemistry. I won't forget to say that the writer was benevolent. He really did leave Elise a chance to repent, and in other to calm the audience, made her remorseful for a very long time. I remember calling for Elise's punishment in one of the episodes, but the short incarceration due to the pardon letter from Oliver and the deportation became a suiting punishment because of the long-time remorse. As a Cooking drama, it didn't stray from its path. The video coverage of the cooking and food was excellent. The characters themselves did great. Song Zu Er's portrayed her role perfectly well. And Ethan Juan's depiction of Oliver's character deserves applause. I'll give this drama a 4 out of 5-star rating.
I would like to say this is the most superb drama I have ever seen. It draws you into the story feeling every emotion being portrayed. This should certainly get awards for acting,directing and for the excellent story writing. What a gift this was!!! Thank You for the opportunity to share the talents of the many people involved.
I know y'all is lying to me right now, right? Wth was that? They sped pass Elise's punishment and Junbin received NONE! What just blows me away is, Li Yan who just committed two crimes went to jail and was not pardoned. Nina was kicked out by Jiang Qian Fan after YEARS of service. Yet the writer wants me to believe that Qian Fan not only wrote an letter for Elise but allowed Junbin to continue treating him? Truthfully it was an unrealistic ending and the writer didn't even stay true to the mannerisms and characteristics of Qian Fan making the ending unbelievable.

Actually Elise n doctor Jinbu poison him but no one can prove it, no prove no crime. Jiang stole the poison cure, he stole n took it so it is self inflicted . If he had reported to authorities than Elise could be arrested för posessing dangerous Medicine. Thats Real Life.... So Elise was deported för Handling with unapproved n possessing dangerous drugs.
Wish the ending had more Jiang and Kesong in it. Love that Boris and Jiang made peace. Next to Jiang Blu is the best supporting male along with his mentor. I get why Jiang still somewhat helped Elise, he had some guilt about how he handled their relationship. Seems he wanted to move forward with no baggage, that is enlightenment. He had already wasted some years with bitterness. He had been extremely arrogant and then was completely humbled by the near death blows. Elise went to prison and then was deported, we just do not get to see her in jail. Kesong not winning the competition was realistic, glad it happened that way. Overall, the ending was okay, just going to miss this wonderful story and that hottie Ethan.
This is the best show I've seen in a long time. Beautiful story. I'm so sad that there isn't more I fell in love with the characters. they become like family. ❤️😭 Please give us a season 2 to see what their new future together holds. Maybe some marriages and kids and travel. We need more.
I made my brother watch some of the food scenes at Yuxuan and he immediately recognized that the food and the restaurant was L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. So good news guys! If you have the $$$ you can eat at Oli’s restaurant. 😂 There’s locations all over the world!

I was impressed with is series in the first episode when she drank the toilet water. She has become on of my favorites. So has this series. I love this one very much. Top of the list for me. He was also fantastic, rather handsome, and definitely one of my favorites now also.
Absolutely loved this series and appreciate the subtle romance between the leads! Wonderful ending with all the romantic couples! Loved this as much as Yanxi Palace! That dance at the end was perfect and fun!

I don't watch series but this is the first time I have watched a series with 40 episodes. I kept crying while watching this last one. I wayched😂 this movie because I want to become an excellent chef. A few things I learnt. 1. Do not underestimate your potentials. 2. Be be great and successful you have to serve under someone who is where you want to be. 3. You have to pay attention to little details. 4. You can achieve any goal regardless just believe in God and yourself. 5. Do not too excited when you win at level one because there are more levels to win at. 6.Strive to cause a difference and live an legacy wherever you go regardless of how small it may look and sound. 7. Open up to people, make friends, socialize and don't be afraid of people watching you do what you do best😊😊. 8. Have balance in your life that is only when you can enjoy to the fullest❤❤. The food was definitely a great highlight of this drama. Wish they hadn't crammed everything into the last episode though. Loved that sweetness was his first taste to be recovered. Guess that's why they put the "sweet" happy dance at the end. Disappointed that Li Yan was arrested and then they just rushed through Elise's punishment. They could have at least shown him being released because she was the one that had him break in to begin with! His crime was minor compared to hers. Did anyone else notice that Elise was speaking English and they dubbed her voice? Lol
The ending is the perfect, some people said Elise and doctor didn't get punished, Elise turn in herself by going to police station and serve in prison, after she came back, she and doctor travel to another country but bcos she is a prisoner they deported her, and they went to Europe in a small city to continue their life,she deserve another chance since Jiang Qianfan forgive her, happy ending, more drama please❤️❤️❤️

His assistant should get some minor jail time for breaking and entering, that's all. I knew it would be this way.. they always try to do this 'message' of forgiveness, but it's so unrealistic that annoys viewers imo.

Ethan Juan needs to be in more dramas. His conveyance of emotions, of physical pain etc. drew me in. I realized I had held my breath. I personally would like to see him and Zhao Lu Si paired as the main hero/heroine costumed fighting evil etc.with a good ending. Song Zu Er is good. Elise could have been remorseful/sad leaving. It was unjust. There were other minute things.Didn't particularly care for the OST playing throughout. Just listening to the actual voices is excellent. Soothing yet strong at times. Would love to have care packages of the desserts sent out to sample. And of course: Thank you for the excellent Eng Sub!
All I can say this K-Drama was a roller coaster with my emotions. I like the food part with all the couple enjoying there dessert to his restaurant adding sugar meal!!❤️ so far top 5 favorite out of all the K-Drama I have watched. It had me in tears when he almost died and I frr started crying when he saw his gf after the recovering.❤️

There's no doubt this OTP's chemistry is no joke. It appears they were successful professionally (for those that doubted since they're allegedly involved romantically off screen). The same thing happened with "The Legend of Fu Yao". He and Yang Mi's chemistry was so off the charts they were also linked as a real couple. It's a thing netizens and fans do out of their fantasies. BTW: if you liked this, I suggest you watch "The Legend of Fu Yao". It's fantastic and both ER & YM were incredible. The love story is phenomenal.

*Seriously? So I guess you never saw “Royal Feast”? You’d probably change your mind as to the title of this being the best. The principal characters Xu Kai and Wu Jinyan are fan favorites. They have acted together before. Also the food in this series is mind blowing*

Little happy with ending..Song and Ethan would have more time to spend, because he recovered from his blindness. Can’t believe they let Elise and the Doctor off easy.. good part of the ending are the dancers to be honest ❤️🇺🇸
I think he actually died on the table and every scene afterwards involving him was imaginary (the show hinted us a few episodes back when he first lost his sight, that she tends to imagine happy endings when things get bad). She imagined him waking up and seeing again, imagined him forgiving Elise and Elise getting out of jail. Imagined them working in the kitchen together-the weird musical hints at it all being unreal. I like it giving most viewers the happy ending they want, but also enough space to interpret it as a tragedy.
I will give Ethan and Song 5 star! But sorry, 3 start for the writer and producer. They gave too much screen time to the bad guy tho, which it wasn't necessary. Elise and the doctor just walk away like that its super annoying! I don't get it what come to the writer mind. It's pretty bad! I wish they gave Ethan and Song longer screen time when Oliver finally could see Lin Kesong again in the hospital. I just love the chemistry between the two of them. I am glad tho that this drama has a happy ending. Ethan is handsome and I find his expression even look so charming when he is clam, relax and throw little smile. Hopefully Ethan and Song can play another drama together again next time.
For once, the editing was good in a C-drama, and there was no obtrusive loud singing during the episodes. The writing was mediocre/average. They could have focused on food, with the Uncle Lin's Kitchen and Yuxuan Kitchen staff exchanging culinary skills.

The final dance is like a cheery on the top of the dessert. I like it a lot. Thank you the screenwriter for happy-end for everyone (i believe Li Yan was also freed) I can easlily believe that Jaing has pardoned Elise just because he always been too loyal to her.

What is wrong with most Chinese dramas? The last ep is usually horrible, they tend to speed up everything and not making any sense. What Elise and Junbin did is unforgivable but the writer makes us feel it's no big deal. I don't like the plot of this drama at all except the food making.
I love the story...The only thing that pisses me off is that elise didnt get the punishment she deserved...No matter how much she did regret it she made Oliver suffer such a big pain together with the people surrounding him and the writer just let her off hook like that...

This episode 40 has to be the worst of all. Was the writer on rush pills? And what was all that at the ending waiters spinning around etc. It's all abit CAMP to me lol. Disappointed!

Have always enjoyed watching Ethan Juan’s films and happy to have encountered Song Zu Er for the first time. They made a sweet pair in their mentee/ mentor relationship in the beginning.
I don't know what's yummier all the Food or Ethan? LOL I've rewatched this a few times now and how they shot the food scenes was so beautiful. Even the sound of the food cooking was well done. By the end of an episode, we were hungry or was inspired to cook! Ethan was so hot as Jiang Qian Fan. He portrayed the self-mastermind chef well and his struggles. Someone who loves food and knows his ingredients to the T! Song Zuer as Lin KenSong was adorable. At first, I thought she looked too young to play his love interest - however later one it didn't bother me because you can see her character develop into a strong independent woman. I really enjoyed the series in all 40 episodes. However, I wished they would have focused more on the romance or developed feelings for each other. Since the series was narrated by Lin KenSong we only get to see and feel her side of their love story. It would have been nice to see more of Qian Fan's love reaction as they cooked/trained together. Ethan is just so yummy so why not see more of him falling for her!!! The romance was lighthearted and not too heavy so why not add more giggly moments for audiences? Now Elisa's and Boris's story was pushed too long. As an audience, I thought it was pushed to the very end which took too long for our experience, and it all came down to the last episode which was rushed. I would have liked to see Qian Fan confront Elisa or her suffer confessing the truth to the police or locked up in jail. She was let off easily with her remorse (like it was nothing) - I mean that's not real. This woman made him lose his taste (which is the most important feature of a chef) and later blinded him. His whole life was going insane while she was let off with remorse...I don't buy it. They could have at least given us audience redemption. Bori's and the cousin going from devil to saint was another one. Again, I felt these characters were created to annoy us but again I was expecting a full episode of punishment for crap they did out of jealously. Their forgiveness was too easily forgiven which I just didn't buy. Also what happened to the assistant? I felt bad for his character, we didn't get a solution for him. I mean even Nina was brought back and concluded her role. There were other characters that I didn't care about but again camera was given too much time. They didn't add or take away from the main couple's story much. Overall, I didn't stop watching it even though there were many characters that got too much story time. If the series focused more on the main couple falling in love I would have been less annoyed. Overall, really loved the food scene and how it brings families and people together. I seriously thought it was going to be a sad ending but I'm happy it ended the way it did!
I have to say, I really enjoyed this Drama, the ML & FL were marvellous. They had a love/Hate relationship, well a lot hate at the start anyway, which gradually turned into respect and finally love *sighs* .. This was so well crafted, as were the plates of food, which all looked exquisite.. The relationships, and intertwining of them, all were as intricate at the food, the actors were all fantastic.. This has been an amazing sense assaulting drama episode by episode! Wow!! The best display of food, emotions and acting. The 1st morden C drama I've loved so much. I'm normally just into C historical dramas. Ethan is amazing! I'm in love with Zu Er too now
I've enjoyed the pace of this drama being 40 episodes long. A great outcome and didn't expect the dancing scene from the cast. This is truly left field from any Chinese drama I've seen before.

This movie is quite different and that’s what I enjoy the most. A love that grew and revealed at the end. Most movies now a day are based on 2 ppl in a marriage contract, that’s how they would usually fall in love. On the other hand, this movie is based on food and love at the end. I really enjoy this movie.
Every tears shed during the 40 episodes were well worth it. I enjoyed every moment spend watching with great anticipation. The ending was brilliant and the chemistry between the leading roles were awesome. I give it a 10 on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being super great. Well done and I'm looking forward to more if these awesome well worth the wait dtamas. AWESOME JOB!

No he wasn't charged with anything as far as I can tell and Oliver went so far as to write a letter of Pardon for Elise (since no major damage was done🙄..so losing sense of taste, sight and almost dying doesn't count as major damage) I think she served as much as maybe 1 year (not sure if it was that long) but she was going to be deported to the UK a place called Transylvania ( not sure if that is correct..lol) and Jubin conveniently bought a clinic there to go with her.. Her mother suffered no consequences they just won the competition by default 🤣. So everything got wrapped up nicely in a little bow. Not sure what happened with Li Yan...if he got off with the same amount of time as Elise...still don't know who supplied her with the drugs in the first place ( unless I missed something cause I did fast forward through her parts sometimes). Hopefully her and the doctor live happily ever after and he has enough time to devote to her or she might poison him 🤣🤣🤣

You should see Chef Hua. A period drama about a woman who is an extraordinary chef. A lot more detail about food, teas etc 💜

This Is Not What I Expected is a movie about a chef and a foodie CEO. You might like it if you like this drama.
I loved them together too. The food segments was done so well that you could almost smell and taste them. For a while I thought that it was going to be a sad ending.
I am utterly disappointed that Elise didn't get a heftier punishment and Junbin didn't get his doctor's license revoked and end up in jail. They just let their crimes slide by like it was nothing. And what also baffles me is the fact that Qianfan allowed Junbin to continue treating him after knowing the truth.
On another note, I've got to say Hats off to Ruan Jingtian. That scene where Qianfan was in pain after taking the pills; wow!! The execution of his acting is on another level. Ruan Jingtian's acting is exceptional.
I'm happy Qianfan and Kesong got the happy ending they deserved, although it was a bit rushed but Elise and that doctor did NOT deserve no happy ending. Their ending was supposed to be them being in jail!!

I’m very disappointed with the rush ending after they dragged it out for awhile, the evil Elise and Junbin didn’t get any punishment for their crimes. Is this drama tries to show the reflection of our society or just encourage people to do bad things and no consequences of their actions what so ever?!!
It said Elise was in jail but was pardoned by Oliver's letter since there was no "major lasting effects" to him. Baffles me that he pardoned her. The doctor on the other hand should have 1000% had his license revoked (at the minimum) and put in prison. That was completely unrealistic. Then there was the random music video/dance a thon at the end 😂
Unfortunately, it was a rushed ending after the storyline being dragged on for 39 episodes. Pretty disappointing.
Boris didn't get enough attention for his colorful outfits 🎨 It matched his neurotic character 😹
He dressed elegantly in one or two scenes. His final outfit matched the party desserts, btw. I think Oliver should hire him as Elise's replacement as General Manager of Yuxuan.

I also want to see the Uncle get a happy ending with our resident sweetie, Nina. The rest of them can play their part too. I just want more romance and fun, and I REALLY want to see her compete without the wolves knocking on her door every time she does it.

Hell for me is to be forced to watch musicals all the time. I believed I would become crazy and lose my mind.
I really love this drama. We didn't get to see all the screen romance between the main leads, but we can't deny their chemistry. I won't forget to say that the writer was benevolent. He really did leave Elise a chance to repent, and in other to calm the audience, made her remorseful for a very long time. I remember calling for Elise's punishment in one of the episodes, but the short incarceration due to the pardon letter from Oliver and the deportation became a suiting punishment because of the long-time remorse.
As a Cooking drama, it didn't stray from its path. The video coverage of the cooking and food was excellent. The characters themselves did great. Song Zu Er's portrayed her role perfectly well. And Ethan Juan's depiction of Oliver's character deserves applause.
I'll give this drama a 4 out of 5-star rating.
I would like to say this is the most superb drama I have ever seen. It draws you into the story feeling every emotion being portrayed. This should certainly get awards for acting,directing and for the excellent story writing. What a gift this was!!! Thank You for the opportunity to share the talents of the many people involved.
I know y'all is lying to me right now, right? Wth was that? They sped pass Elise's punishment and Junbin received NONE! What just blows me away is, Li Yan who just committed two crimes went to jail and was not pardoned. Nina was kicked out by Jiang Qian Fan after YEARS of service. Yet the writer wants me to believe that Qian Fan not only wrote an letter for Elise but allowed Junbin to continue treating him? Truthfully it was an unrealistic ending and the writer didn't even stay true to the mannerisms and characteristics of Qian Fan making the ending unbelievable.

Wish the ending had more Jiang and Kesong in it. Love that Boris and Jiang made peace. Next to Jiang Blu is the best supporting male along with his mentor. I get why Jiang still somewhat helped Elise, he had some guilt about how he handled their relationship. Seems he wanted to move forward with no baggage, that is enlightenment. He had already wasted some years with bitterness. He had been extremely arrogant and then was completely humbled by the near death blows. Elise went to prison and then was deported, we just do not get to see her in jail. Kesong not winning the competition was realistic, glad it happened that way. Overall, the ending was okay, just going to miss this wonderful story and that hottie Ethan.
This is the best show I've seen in a long time. Beautiful story. I'm so sad that there isn't more I fell in love with the characters. they become like family. ❤️😭 Please give us a season 2 to see what their new future together holds. Maybe some marriages and kids and travel. We need more.
I made my brother watch some of the food scenes at Yuxuan and he immediately recognized that the food and the restaurant was L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. So good news guys! If you have the $$$ you can eat at Oli’s restaurant. 😂 There’s locations all over the world!

Absolutely loved this series and appreciate the subtle romance between the leads! Wonderful ending with all the romantic couples! Loved this as much as Yanxi Palace! That dance at the end was perfect and fun!

The food was definitely a great highlight of this drama. Wish they hadn't crammed everything into the last episode though. Loved that sweetness was his first taste to be recovered. Guess that's why they put the "sweet" happy dance at the end. Disappointed that Li Yan was arrested and then they just rushed through Elise's punishment. They could have at least shown him being released because she was the one that had him break in to begin with! His crime was minor compared to hers. Did anyone else notice that Elise was speaking English and they dubbed her voice? Lol

Ethan Juan needs to be in more dramas. His conveyance of emotions, of physical pain etc. drew me in. I realized I had held my breath. I personally would like to see him and Zhao Lu Si paired as the main hero/heroine costumed fighting evil etc.with a good ending. Song Zu Er is good. Elise could have been remorseful/sad leaving. It was unjust. There were other minute things.Didn't particularly care for the OST playing throughout. Just listening to the actual voices is excellent. Soothing yet strong at times. Would love to have care packages of the desserts sent out to sample. And of course: Thank you for the excellent Eng Sub!
I’d rather pair Ethan with Zu Lulu who was great with Zhang Han in Sunshine of My Life.
All I can say this K-Drama was a roller coaster with my emotions. I like the food part with all the couple enjoying there dessert to his restaurant adding sugar meal!!❤️ so far top 5 favorite out of all the K-Drama I have watched. It had me in tears when he almost died and I frr started crying when he saw his gf after the recovering.❤️

I think he actually died on the table and every scene afterwards involving him was imaginary (the show hinted us a few episodes back when he first lost his sight, that she tends to imagine happy endings when things get bad).
She imagined him waking up and seeing again, imagined him forgiving Elise and Elise getting out of jail. Imagined them working in the kitchen together-the weird musical hints at it all being unreal. I like it giving most viewers the happy ending they want, but also enough space to interpret it as a tragedy.
Woah, Ethan's acting improves so much after all these years ❤ Acting to be in a huge physical pain is no easy job. 👏
I also loved the ending where everyone was dancing around in the restaurant.
I will give Ethan and Song 5 star! But sorry, 3 start for the writer and producer. They gave too much screen time to the bad guy tho, which it wasn't necessary. Elise and the doctor just walk away like that its super annoying! I don't get it what come to the writer mind. It's pretty bad! I wish they gave Ethan and Song longer screen time when Oliver finally could see Lin Kesong again in the hospital. I just love the chemistry between the two of them. I am glad tho that this drama has a happy ending. Ethan is handsome and I find his expression even look so charming when he is clam, relax and throw little smile. Hopefully Ethan and Song can play another drama together again next time.
For once, the editing was good in a C-drama, and there was no obtrusive loud singing during the episodes. The writing was mediocre/average. They could have focused on food, with the Uncle Lin's Kitchen and Yuxuan Kitchen staff exchanging culinary skills.

What is wrong with most Chinese dramas? The last ep is usually horrible, they tend to speed up everything and not making any sense. What Elise and Junbin did is unforgivable but the writer makes us feel it's no big deal. I don't like the plot of this drama at all except the food making.
I love the story...The only thing that pisses me off is that elise didnt get the punishment she deserved...No matter how much she did regret it she made Oliver suffer such a big pain together with the people surrounding him and the writer just let her off hook like that...

Have always enjoyed watching Ethan Juan’s films and happy to have encountered Song Zu Er for the first time. They made a sweet pair in their mentee/ mentor relationship in the beginning.
Tuned in late but in time to see evil doers ride off into the sunset which made this very anticlimactic for me.
I don't know what's yummier all the Food or Ethan? LOL I've rewatched this a few times now and how they shot the food scenes was so beautiful. Even the sound of the food cooking was well done. By the end of an episode, we were hungry or was inspired to cook! Ethan was so hot as Jiang Qian Fan. He portrayed the self-mastermind chef well and his struggles. Someone who loves food and knows his ingredients to the T! Song Zuer as Lin KenSong was adorable. At first, I thought she looked too young to play his love interest - however later one it didn't bother me because you can see her character develop into a strong independent woman. I really enjoyed the series in all 40 episodes. However, I wished they would have focused more on the romance or developed feelings for each other. Since the series was narrated by Lin KenSong we only get to see and feel her side of their love story. It would have been nice to see more of Qian Fan's love reaction as they cooked/trained together. Ethan is just so yummy so why not see more of him falling for her!!! The romance was lighthearted and not too heavy so why not add more giggly moments for audiences? Now Elisa's and Boris's story was pushed too long. As an audience, I thought it was pushed to the very end which took too long for our experience, and it all came down to the last episode which was rushed. I would have liked to see Qian Fan confront Elisa or her suffer confessing the truth to the police or locked up in jail. She was let off easily with her remorse (like it was nothing) - I mean that's not real. This woman made him lose his taste (which is the most important feature of a chef) and later blinded him. His whole life was going insane while she was let off with remorse...I don't buy it. They could have at least given us audience redemption. Bori's and the cousin going from devil to saint was another one. Again, I felt these characters were created to annoy us but again I was expecting a full episode of punishment for crap they did out of jealously. Their forgiveness was too easily forgiven which I just didn't buy. Also what happened to the assistant? I felt bad for his character, we didn't get a solution for him. I mean even Nina was brought back and concluded her role. There were other characters that I didn't care about but again camera was given too much time. They didn't add or take away from the main couple's story much. Overall, I didn't stop watching it even though there were many characters that got too much story time. If the series focused more on the main couple falling in love I would have been less annoyed. Overall, really loved the food scene and how it brings families and people together. I seriously thought it was going to be a sad ending but I'm happy it ended the way it did!

I have to say, I really enjoyed this Drama, the ML & FL were marvellous. They had a love/Hate relationship, well a lot hate at the start anyway, which gradually turned into respect and finally love *sighs* .. This was so well crafted, as were the plates of food, which all looked exquisite..

This has been an amazing sense assaulting drama episode by episode! Wow!! The best display of food, emotions and acting. The 1st morden C drama I've loved so much. I'm normally just into C historical dramas. Ethan is amazing! I'm in love with Zu Er too now
Also I'm really glad Chu Ting got a happy ending, she deserves it!

I've enjoyed the pace of this drama being 40 episodes long. A great outcome and didn't expect the dancing scene from the cast. This is truly left field from any Chinese drama I've seen before.
qing qing zijin also has an ending like a musical, the whole cast dancing.
I really enjoyed ever scenes and episodes to the end. Love the actors like Ethan Juan and Song Zu Er. They play a beautiful role in show. Love all the different food they cooking. Thankyou 💖👍
This movie is quite different and that’s what I enjoy the most. A love that grew and revealed at the end. Most movies now a day are based on 2 ppl in a marriage contract, that’s how they would usually fall in love. On the other hand, this movie is based on food and love at the end. I really enjoy this movie.
I most say I watched 3 times and still cry how good ethan and song are 2gether
Every tears shed during the 40 episodes were well worth it. I enjoyed every moment spend watching with great anticipation. The ending was brilliant and the chemistry between the leading roles were awesome. I give it a 10 on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being super great. Well done and I'm looking forward to more if these awesome well worth the wait dtamas. AWESOME JOB!

No he wasn't charged with anything as far as I can tell and Oliver went so far as to write a letter of Pardon for Elise (since no major damage was done🙄..so losing sense of taste, sight and almost dying doesn't count as major damage) I think she served as much as maybe 1 year (not sure if it was that long) but she was going to be deported to the UK a place called Transylvania ( not sure if that is correct..lol) and Jubin conveniently bought a clinic there to go with her.. Her mother suffered no consequences they just won the competition by default 🤣. So everything got wrapped up nicely in a little bow. Not sure what happened with Li Yan...if he got off with the same amount of time as Elise...still don't know who supplied her with the drugs in the first place ( unless I missed something cause I did fast forward through her parts sometimes). Hopefully her and the doctor live happily ever after and he has enough time to devote to her or she might poison him 🤣🤣🤣
