Can We Be Honest About Evan Mobley?

- Evan Mobley has been one of the most interesting evaluations I’ve had over the past few years. He’s clearly a very good player. He’s one of the best young defensive players in NBA history. But there have been expectations placed on him that I‘ve been skeptical of because of drawbacks with his offensive ceiling. In this video I want to talk about what I’ve seen with Mobley so far this season to paint a picture of where I stand with him as a player and his upside.

My name is Noah Terranova. On this channel I make videos breaking down the film of basketball players in both long term and single game contexts. I use a combination of advanced stats, basic stats, tracking stats, and what I take away from watching the games to form my evalutions. My goal is to give my own perspective on the game with my own little twist on how I choose to present it.

Mobley is a guy who you have to allowed to continue to grow into his skills. he's good. I feel like he's going to be way better a couple years down the line..
no he isn't lmao. Just a slightly better playmaking Deandre Ayton
Dude he is in year 3! What do you mean a couple of years down the line?
@@Watchingvideoslikeu sometimes that's what it takes especially with how young they draft players today. He's good already but he's still getting better
@@bobbyohalterego4102 so they have to give him a max contract extension after this season in the hopes that he is worth that he improves? He has averaged 20 points per games once in his life including high school, college, nba, and aau. What’s going to change now? The premier big men in this league are scoring upwards of 25 and grabbing 12plus boards and can be both the offensive and defensive catalysts of championship contenders. His offensive game isn’t there yet and in the playoffs he got thrown around by Julius Randle.
give him another year or 2 to keep bulking up. He gained 7 pounds of muscle in the offseason and still needs like another 15-20 to dominate the way he likes to play. He tries to bang down low in the post, but he's too weak now to create separation that way, in a few years he'll have that as his bread and butter and have other things off it. He only weighs 222 right now, hard to have a post game at that size.
eh i mean cavs want to contend now it sucks to be garland and mitchell
to be honest id rather have draymond/jarret allen and valanciunas/ vuc/ tobias harris
trading evan for alot of assets for the bench makes them one of the favourites to win it all
A year or 2? So we have to wait for year 4 or 5? What happened to his 3 pt shooting potential? He isn’t showing the ability to be a dominant scorer or even a dominant rebounder or even a dominant rim protector he is just ok
Time will tell if evolution is ahead
Plenty of years >
Could be some stand numbers- passing is crisp as always defense is on lock down good movement around court.
u da goat fr
Not about Evan Mobley, its been about how coaching staff has tried to develop Evan Mobley.
When its Win Now in year two, in the eyes of the front office, well there isnt focus on developing Evan, and there hasnt been any since year 2
Mobley can easily be an all star in year four, or at least caliber
witterally mobley is the best
I hear that he needs to be better offensively a lot, but why?
because he is ass right now
I keep wondering that same question. Everyone notices that his offensive numbers are good, but forget that he’s also a top defensive player. It’s like people forget that the game is played on both sides of the court?
@@kennethsmith6367Mobley was the 3rd overall pick. He should be way better
@@Watchingvideoslikeu He’s an exceptional talent. The points aren’t going to be incredibly different, because he’s the 3rd option on a loaded team. His numbers are fine under the circumstances of playing on a loaded Cavaliers team.
Heck when they feature Mobley, he’s good for 20/30 points plus double digit rebounds. Then add the elite defense to the package. It’s only a matter of there’s only one ball, that everyone has to share.
Evan is morely a Bam Adebayo type of player
Role player, nothing special. Possibly would be like Deandre Jordan or Javale in his prime.
Dude just had 17 points 19 rebounds and 7 blocks and ur comparing him to fucking javale mcgee 😭 u need to learn some basketball
Not to mention he’s literally a top 5 defensive player in the league
Bruh what 😂
Never in my life I’ve heard the Javale became top 3 candidate for Dpoy in his 2nd year
You sound stupid lol
Idk what team you’re watching. Literally every game he’s been the number 1 option on Offensive side of ball he’s going for at least 25+ & easily 10+ boards. He’s going for 17 & 11 as a fourth option most games. And basketball isn’t all about just scoring.. he’s barely old enough to drink alcohol & he’s been the most versatile/ lockdown defender switching 1-5 & dominating the paint. Once he actually turns 27 -30 years old he’s going to easily be a Top 5 probably even Top 3 Big Man in the league. It’s obvious why non of you in comment section & creator of video don’t & never would have a job scouting or in nba.
