    We knew before the coronavirus pandemic arrived that not everyone had the same opportunity to live a long and healthy life. COVID-19 has further demonstrated these realities by directly affecting the lives and livelihoods of so many people in communities across the country. More people are being forced to make choices between food and transportation, utilities, and medical care-leaving even more at risk of ongoing food insecurity.
    Research shows that not having consistent access to food is related to negative effects on child development, disease management, and overall health.
    In this webinar, we were joined by:
    • Gita Rampersad, JD, MHA, Vice President of Health and Nutrition at Feeding America;
    • Berenice Medina, MPH, CHES, Health Initiative Coordinator for The Idaho Foodbank
    They discussed how using the food pantry system is not only a way to address food insecurity, but also a way to engage community members in important dialogue and efforts to address other equity issues that influence the social determinants of health within their community.
