Why are black men more likely to suffer psychotic disorders?

- Research show that if you're a black adult male you're 10 times more likely to be diagnosed with a psychotic disorder. But why? And is there enough support available to those with mental health issues before they reach the point of crisis. Because too often it's only when the breakdown happens that contact is made with any kind of services.

All the neglect, abuses, stresses and trauma, thats an easy answer.
That's right at work you get ignored interrupted while talking and the other races will join in if you are the only black in the work place.
Black culture also promotes behaviors that exacerbate these innate tendencies. The prevalence of single motherhood, gang violence and drug use encourages deviant behaviors that can trigger psychotic breaks.
As if black women don’t have it worse.
I think it’s a sign that most black people should become psychologist, motivation speakers and positive rappers with inspirational athletes

They suffer disorders in every country.
They need to change their culture. This has nothing to do with race, blacks who come from the Caribbean and Africa outperform UK blacks because their culture and attitudes are different. However black immigrants who grew up in the UK or those who had immigrant parents or grandparents and were born in the UK perform the same as multi generational UK blacks. The only explanation for this is culture.
Nobody is denying racism but it isn't the only factor nor is it the major one, change your attitudes and change your communities.

This is not about changing anything. This is not about skin color or culture. This is about equal access to Medical Care because they are citizens that paid into governmental infrastructure sworn to protect them. Medical doctors take a certain oath to treat their patients regardless of Skin Color or Culture. If you still see their culture or color as an issue then you missed the entire point. No matter what skin color, culture , ethnicity, you deserve the right medications, the right treatment, and respect when administering care. And it is funny how so many people in here criticizing their skin color and culture, but as soon as you get mistreated at a hospital you want to call a lawyer to enforce your rights. This is about treating a human with humanity in the medical industry.
This narrative also applies to the black man in the United States and probably to all black men, living in predominantly white societies. It's done on purpose.

As a black female who is disturbed by issues of racism and Black males being shot here in America. More services are needed here as well. We have a history of being experimented on in the mental health services. There are definitely social and economic issues involved. More Black mental health workers and access to the education needed to give Black people a hand up to become Psychologists etc.
Black people can just become mental health practitioners. If they aren't then that's that.
First and foremost we need to stop calling each other black. Black is a ritualistic spell on us.

Accurate getting back to our tribal traditions and wholistic modalities
Our Black men need tools to work with more teachers in school tutoring some of them have learning disablities that were never address they put them in a special class give them their meds ad keep it moving i always felt like 2 teachers per a class room would help bring the children IQ up those trades they had in school help them , get jobs when they graduate they had thier certiicate and got a job.
If the top are making an effort to work with people who are being stigmatized, they both need to be willing to be part of the recovery plan. If the stigmatized individual is unconvinced enough, improvement will take a longer time to happen.

Psychiatric disability is a brain disorder. There was a class about Ashkenazie Jewish schizophrenia. I felt horrible because I am half Ashkenazie Jew. I was in the long term hospital. Most of the patients were white and I was an adult. I hated the hospital and I don’t like my diagnosis. But if you’re American, you know what I am talking about. These accents don’t sound American. I would be angry if someone thought that I malingered mental illness because I am white. I have anger and depression every day. I am looking for anger management. I lost lots of sleep and I don’t feel like I will ever make up for the sleep deprivation. I don’t abuse drugs, but I was profiled and then diagnosed with schizophrenia. There are Americans who believe it’s illegal to be mentally ill and are highly fearful because of the media and fictional movies. I want badly to stop being angry. I blocked my sister. She’s toxic and expensive. We weren’t treated equally. I pound on clay. It’s a good way to deal with anger. I will call up the therapy group for people with bad anger problems. To say that schizophrenia or bipolar is only for black people isn’t fair. But I remember guys calling me ugly as a kid. And when I was an adult, I looked younger than I was. I feel stereotyped. This video is stereotypical. I try to take good care of myself. I got help as an adult. I also have poor vision which may have got me to feel depressed. I didn’t get glasses when I needed it. I didn’t go to the prom and I didn’t have a boyfriend. Boys called me ugly. I dreamt of being in bed with a female. I don’t understand myself. I think that I am an Ace. That my family may have thought that I was nuts cause I don’t like men.
In America, there’s a new way of getting people to the hospital. I rather be homeless or dead than the new way. If I was told the police or coming, I would be dead really quickly. That’s why I want the anger management. I was hoping for some video about Ashkenazim anger.
That's rubbish, I'm black and I've worked in the mental health system, there isn't prejudice against black men, most men in the system are white males that also feel the same way.
Just because there are black men in the london units, doesn't mean its the same everywhere else.

I would like to see a further break down (no pun intended) of these figures, especially income/ wealth levels of those who suffer mental health issues, and treatment. I suspect this is less a colour/ race issue, and more a wealth issue, as wealth decreases, I would imagine the ratio of black to white men with psychological issues would begin to level.
It can't just be about assimilation, as black people have been far more accepted than other ethnic minorities in the UK, yet other ethnic minorities have higher levels of income than blacks, whereas whites are more broadly positioned across the spectrum.

According to all census data, 0nly 20% of black people(10 million vs. 20 million white Americans) live below the poverty(lower during the Obama years), with more than a few US black neighborhoods are on par with places like Greenwich, CT.
As for Africa, there are plenty of black states that are extremely wealthy, with magnificent architecture, with the poorer areas resembling many poor white neighborhoods in American "red" states.
That said, please, by all means, retain your ignorant narrative. Clearly, it keeps you warm.

ReeNikki You should write more about this Envy versus Disgust & Pity. I haven't heard your perspective before. Like yourself, I don't quite see the envy 100% except maybe in 1 or 2 areas but the disgust perspective is new to my ears. Certainly, the needy blacks are grateful for the pity of asians, white and jew males that run the countries. Otherwise, would the needy blacks have no help because they cannot rely on other blacks to collaborate or support their businesses?
