    You mentioned doing a second or double pass with the v bit /vcarve function for clean up. Is that a second slightly larger toolpath? Like a roughing/finish set of passes? Or something different. TIA!!

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  Před rokem +2

      Patrick, As we touched on during the show, due to the cutting dynamics of a V-Bit it's difficult to get a clean cut near the tip. That second pass should be along the exact same contour at full depth. This way it doesn't alter your art.
      Another strategy I'll employ is limiting the depth of cut of the V-Bit to just above the max depth of the tool path. That way a second pass is generated automatically by the initial tool path. That second pass will function something like you are thinking regarding a 3D finishing pass with, for example, .5mm remaining. You can force that type of cutting parameter by manipulating the DOC (Depth of Cut) relationship with Max Depth.
      This was a good question, and has prompted me to plan a CZcams Short on the topic for later in the week. I'll ping you back here when it's up.

    Is there a way to keep the LAYERS panel open/visible all the time, ala Illustrator and Photoshop? Having to reopen the window every time is clunky and discourages its use.

    Dunno if Kevin Barnett will ever read this but one thing that is aggravating to me is the tool path calculations.
    The Tool path calculations should NOT be calculating just because you click on the tool path tab nor should they be calculating at ANY time during the design tab in the background (It calculates also while in the design tab).
    That takes up valuable resources. It should not calculate until a button is pressed on the design tab itself.
    I would also suggest that while its running calculations of the tool path and it runs into a problem, like trying to run a 1/4 bit into a 1/8 space, instead of continuously spinning in circles and calculating endlessly, alert the user with a dialogue box of the specific problem. I am sure an array of problems can be thought of in the program functions itself to alert users of SPeCIFIC issues.

      @@carbide3d Awesome! Well I hope I was specific and constructive enough? And by the way, its not really aggravating from a user point of view(dunno?). Its aggravating from a programmers point of view. I used to write programs all the time so I look at it differently. Thanks for commenting back:}

      I came back cause I thought I would alert you on functionality that is not complete and that is the usage of "t".
      "t" works great in the tools menu. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. If I were to come back to the tools menu it still reads "t" in the text box just like it should.
      As you already know, "t" works elsewhere also but not like it should. The problem is when you apply "t" to width or height of a rectangle to represent width of wood the "t" will NOT remain in the text box as a result when thickness is changed on the menu the "t" will not change anymore cause "t" doesn't exist in the text box. There doesn't seem to be an IF function or anything that says "If width height == "t" then do something something".

      Ran across this video again and of course my comment.
      The improvements made by y'all are awesome. You have made carbide create pro much faster. Dunno if it had anything to do with what I said but it is much faster and it acts exactly what I was describing. Y'all are awesome.
      Every forum I am in and someone asks what program should I use. Of course I am always adamantly referring Carbide create pro.
      On a side note. Vectric just came out with their version 12 and I saw a video of what it can do now.
      I saw that and I said "Hell, Carbide create pro already does that! What the heck is the rip roar about?"

    Is there a video with a chamfer bit instead of a v carve bit
    And how to chamfer?

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi Troy. We don't have a specific video featuring a chamfer bit. Just like V-Bits, a chamfer bit has a flat portion at the tip. You have to use an offset, along with the DOC, to produce your desired chamfer. The angle of the chamfer will be set by the bit geometry. Feeds and Speeds are often contained in the literature from the supplier. We regularly use a 90° chamfer bit from Lakeshore Carbide.
