Attempting this climb on Sunday, been eyeing it from my Aunts back garden for years. Thanks for the video. Any extra advice? Complete armature so any advice is appreciated.
Hi Steve!! 👋🏻 I have just landed in Kefalonia haha so I do apologise if any of my responses are slightly delayed as I will be driving to my hotel soon... Anyway, Cadair Idris is a great mountain to climb. If you are a complete amateur though I wouldn't advise going back down the route I went down if you have no scrambling experience! The route I went up will be completely fine, there isn't anything technical there so just take your time and enjoy the views 😊 You could always go back the way I was going to doing 'the loop' or just get to the trig point, enjoy the scenery and go back the way you came up. Are you going with anyone else? If so what are you going to be using for navigation? If you're going on your own remember ALWAYS let someone know where you're planning on going. Luckily for you if you can see it from your Aunts back garden just let her know you're going up so somebody knows. I always so when going solo even though ive hiked for over 15 years and even if its an are I know very well 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks so much for clicking on my video! Chris 🙏🏼⛰️✌🏼
@@theheightoflife no apology necessary! Thank you so much for the response. My first thought when I saw you take the "fun" way down was, nope not for me just yet 😂 I was just going to use the navigation on my phone and ill be taking my portable charger with me. Is that a rookie mistake? Because I have a wonderful compass that I got from a second hand store I can bring with me. My Aunt and Uncle are gonna be driving me there and will know my planned route. I think the loop sounds like a great idea. I'm from Birmingham btw. I thought i heard some midlands in your accent. I'm planning to do more of this so I look forward to working my way through your channel. Thanks again. Steve 🙏🏼
@@TheeSteveValentino You're very welcome 🙏🏼 Haha yeah it is a bit of a mad one and that was showing parts I managed to be able to wedge the camera on 😂😂 Well that's the 'usual' mistake people make, but some dont even take the charger with them. Its surprising how much battery you use taking photos etc. Luckily too round Wales and Snowdonia National Park the signal is usually pretty decent. Its good how you have a compass though. Can you use it? If not it will be ok for now with your phone but knowing how to use an OS map and compass is a great skill to have while out in the hills and mountains. There are lots of course you can do in Wales / Lake District and many other places at all skill levels. Thats awesome your aunt and uncle will know where you are etc good man and I'm from Birmingham too!! I live about 10 mins from the airport 😃 Do you have Instagram? If so find me on there and send me a message, its @the_height_of_life or the link is on my 'about' section on here. Take it easy mate and enjoy yourself, hope it goes well and let me know how you got on! Oh and thanks so much for watching the vids hope you like anymore you check out 🙏🏼🤜🏻🤛🏻 ATB.... Chris
He took the minfford path and on the way back he took the same route we took.. 25-30 min and you are down to the lake 😉 bit of tricky though, need a bit of experience, else you can come running down.
Yes I hiked up the Minfford Path went to the Trig then camp back down a scree from Craig Cau. As you mentioned to yourself below. You are right though I wouldn't do this route back down if you have no scree or basic scrambling experience. You could do it in a couple of hours but longer if you want to sit and admire the views on a clear day. Thanks for watching. ATB... Chris

Attempting this climb on Sunday, been eyeing it from my Aunts back garden for years. Thanks for the video. Any extra advice? Complete armature so any advice is appreciated.
Hi Steve!! 👋🏻
I have just landed in Kefalonia haha so I do apologise if any of my responses are slightly delayed as I will be driving to my hotel soon...
I always so when going solo even though ive hiked for over 15 years and even if its an are I know very well 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks so much for clicking on my video!
Chris 🙏🏼⛰️✌🏼
@@theheightoflife no apology necessary! Thank you so much for the response.
My first thought when I saw you take the "fun" way down was, nope not for me just yet 😂
I was just going to use the navigation on my phone and ill be taking my portable charger with me.
Steve 🙏🏼
@@TheeSteveValentino You're very welcome 🙏🏼
Haha yeah it is a bit of a mad one and that was showing parts I managed to be able to wedge the camera on 😂😂
Well that's the 'usual' mistake people make, but some dont even take the charger with them.
I live about 10 mins from the airport 😃
Do you have Instagram? If so find me on there and send me a message, its @the_height_of_life or the link is on my 'about' section on here.
Take it easy mate and enjoy yourself, hope it goes well and let me know how you got on!
Oh and thanks so much for watching the vids hope you like anymore you check out 🙏🏼🤜🏻🤛🏻
ATB.... Chris
Nice video. Which route did you follow and how long is the hike? Thanks
