- The Log hive provides a feral-like nest environment and offers insight into the natural gestalt of the "bien" (oneness of the nest). Comb, propolis and the initial cluster speak through their form and open a new understanding of the bien. Sound and scent are additional facets of the feral "bien". The design tries to offer features which can be fully controlled by the bees.
It was really awesome hearing the queen pipingduring the video!
This is just amazing! I had no idea other bee keepers kept their bees horizontal! I have a hexagonal shape top bar skep I designed myself. my original one is about 3 feet long instead of being upright. I will do a video very soon when the weather gets warmer and blossom is on the trees. Your Log Hive is just AMAZING! Thanks for posting!
Amazing log hive! We just set up a 'rescued' log hive from a bee tree that was removed in the SBBA bee yard. The comb structures are so interesting! Thank you @Gaia Bees!
Incredible ! Fun to watch. Beautiful and what a gift from the bees.
the queen, the brood, larvae and eggs are in the brood chamber, which is located in the center of the nest - I only video taped the outside of the nest! This log nest is queen right and healthy.
Yes, thank you for pointing this out!
Is this colony still viable?
loved the video thank you
Really cool !
The Golden hive uses Dadant size frames, rotated up so they are deeper and narrow. You could build a box around it, big enough for 20 frames. Good luck.
This is actually a widely practiced way of apiculture in Turkey, especially in the black sea region.
Awesome!!!!!
nice...i love the honey bees
thanks for sharing.
Is that beautiful or what!!! I love it and wish I could have bees.
just as great as simple.
they are doing very well.
very cool!
no this was when my father was growing up he had no bees when I was born.Just remember him talking about them and how people thought him weird for laying his down instead of upright.he said that he was doing just like his daddy did so it probably was a carry over from where they came from England in the late 1600s
Bee logs are beautiful
would love to see it!
Imagine how many bees got splinters because of that hole
Beautiful! I'm running a vertical log hive as well as a Perone hive this year. First thing the bee club guys asked me was how can the inspector get into the log hive? I said, you don't get into it, It's called periapiculture for a reason, leave them bee.
You're running....?
Thanks
It's nice to work hard. thanks
how is the log hive doing it's been a year since we've touched base?
its less than from Langstroth hives, yet of a different quality. Do you have pictures of your Grandfather and his log hives? Would love to see them.
Very nice
I love honey bee
From April until Sept they were in the log hive, but no brood, larvae, or eggs were present. No queen aparently?
That is beautiful hey you have the specs or plans for the Golden Hive?. I am going to be practicing top bar beekeeping next year wish me good luck.
Hello nice job. I wanted to know if you put sticks inside when the start to build
no sticks. I add propolis and beeswax to it on the ceiling.
The bees have a - bee citizens' bank
Nice
felicidades!
how much honey could you harvest in a hive like this my grandpaw had hives like this when my dad was growing up and said he made all kinda honey.
Is it meant to be harvest-able?
Tell me how many centimeters the wall thickness should be inlet and which side is to look (into the wind)?
+Алмас Калием about 10 centimeter thick walls; entrance on one side, access on the other side; entrances facing not the wind. Best to email me at gaiabees@gmail.com
💞💞💞
What is the purpose of the cardboard divider? By the way, it's amazing!
To get the combs centered
Josh Blick what do you mean?
How do you harvest the goods inside?
how many holes on the sides did you put in it for bee access?
As you can see, three holes.
Nice but how do you harvest honey? How do you re-setup the log after harvesting the honey?
Horizontal bee-nest were commonly used in traditional apiculture and honeycomb could be cut from the back. We are using them currently for conservation and research only. You can find more info at www.ApisArborea.org
@@Gaiabees Thanks. I have lots of mason bees and leaf cutter bees for that reason so was curious if using a log I can have both give honey bees a place to naturally procreate and also get some honey :)
I will check the link out.
Do I hear queen piping at 5:25?
she is at 2:02 if I guess well
+Fox In The Box I thought so as well, but there were several others with the same looks in the top left. Drones perhaps?
How do you extract honey?
this hive design is not so much about homey, but rather it provides a natural nest environment that supports their health
Los hacen muy lentos y terminan siendo aburridos, y eso a q mi me encantan las abejas
i love bees.how i keep bees in my home???
Very simple, in New York City the beekeepers keep bees on balcony, in room , close to window, on roof, backyard
Buy the all You needed for one hive,www.dadant.com, and packaging of bees, delivery will be in end of March or April, see local supplier.
in this hive bees lose lots of energy to build the hive mean less honey.
