I've recently been getting heavily into barbershop recently and I've found out how much of a LEGEND Tim is in the community, so when I saw he uploaded just hours after he uploaded it, I decided to try it and it was super fun to transcribe.
I'm sure you've seen it but here's George Collier's channel, which helped revolutionize the transcribing community on CZcams: / georgecollier

When the transcription video gets more than 3 times the views of the original!! 🤣 Well done, Jason!
Hopefully it gets more people to see it and your channel, that's definitely the goal because you are incredible!
@@jasonfieler Thanks so much, Jason!! I appreciate it!
@@TimWaurickMusic Jason got me on board! I absolutely love your tags and I often sing along with the bass part. You’re amazing!
@@themadman731 thanks!! I’m glad you like singing with them!
This is certainly making me head over to your site!!! Absolutely amazing version. Love it!!!!
Hey Jason, thanks for transcribing one of my videos! I hope everyone likes it!
Thanks so much Tim! You're a gigantic inspiration and all the stuff on your channel is so amazing, I'm glad you like it!
Hey were you inspired by Chopins tristesse?!
@@johannesandree8173 I see that too! Especially bars 14 - 3rd beat of 17
@@johannesandree8173 Yes! This arrangement was inspired by Tristesse. I wonder what Chopin would think lol
People are talking about holding a note, but nobody's talking about the pure *joy* radiating from this man. This is someone who is having *unadulterated fun*.
what the fuck that is incredible. My ears will never listen to something so beautiful ever again
It’s cause Chopin wrote it
@@CookieMasterRBLX It does sound very similar to his Etude 10/3 (Tristesse)
The reason it sounds so good is because, the intervals sung, and pitch corrected are perfectly matched on the harmonic series (Just intonation).
Most music you hear is in equal temperament, which adjusts all the intervals equally to allow you to change more easily from key to key without the need for another keyboard or different layout and avoiding bad tones which come with specific intervals if you a just temperament.
He also is moving between different keys, so the key the temperament is based on is changing a lot in order to avoid a bad sound.
You notice how there's no beating in the sound, sort-of sterile sounding as well? That's why.
@@Souls_p_ oh thanks
Let me introduce you to *Jacob Collier*
The fact that he holds a note from 1:04 to 1:30 for a total of 26 seconds and makes it look that effortless is incredible...
easy, it's all pre recorded, auto tuned and mastered
It might not be auto tuned. People with absolute pitch are able to sing like this without autotune.
@@PinkasC While this recording is, Tim has lots of videos of live performances with long posts. /watch?v=UVlPyk5bqo4
@@PinkasC Of course it's pre-recorded, what are you talking about? That is a redundant statement. And no, I doubt he uses auto tune, and 99.9 percent of artists master their audio
@@PinkasC 🤡
The absolute range on this man. At 0:28 the bass is on an F2, a note quite a few baritones and inexperienced basses would struggle with, while also hitting a c5 in the tenor. And then of course there's the blend...
d5
young bass here so voice is still growing and developing, my range is like D2-D5(falsetto) but my god he makes it sound so good and so pure to me
Tim Waurick!
This is my favorite from him and the barbershop group he’s with! czcams.com/video/jawmji4Caas/video.html
My range is C#2 to G5 (kind of, I’m not very accurate up there)
F2 isn't really that low for a true bassist though... i mean i have no choral experience whatsoever and hit it just now with no warmup to it.
Tim has such a great way with counterpoint and tight 4-part harmony. I genuinely think theory students should look at these transcriptions.
His part writing was the first thing I noticed. Great part writing with tons of harmonic interest/appealing chromaticism
Honestly, this is a homophonic layout, so where's counterpoint here??? The harmonies are really brilliantly done!
Tim Waurick is a beast! Got to love him!
Thanks, Trenton!! 😃
I can confirm he is the best, he spoke and sang with vocal spectrum at my school! Which was the best vocal performance I have ever seen live!! (I was that kid who did the subharmonics and overtones)
@@lltheguy8387 Where is your school?
@@barbershop16214South Florida (I don't want to be too specific)
@@lltheguy8387 right! I was just at a show and wondered if it was the same one! It wasn’t!
being able to hold a high note for *9 freaking whole notes* is god level tier
Don't forget the two bars preceding those nine whole notes! He doesn't seem to take a breath before hitting the post :)
@@DrewLevitt only a guy with lungs of steel can hold approximately 36 counts of note and can make it look easy at the same time!!
“What do you do for a living?”
“I’m a barbershop quartet.”
"love that's shining with the sun and moon and stars above" part is sooo Chopin Etude in E
The source material, "No Other Love," written in 1950, is known to have been based on the Etude. If you listen to the original, it's not hidden at all.
As a girl, I will say I was very impressed. First video I’ve watched here, and now am subscribed. This was effective.
I wish you had more time to impress a girl because this was seriously impressive. I loved all 97 seconds of it.
that was like 14 times better than I expected I think
That's good because it was made with 14 times more effort than average
What a nice arrangement!!
Pd: the "how to impres a girl" wasn't necesary, you impressed everyone, prepare for the love recuest
tims overtones are CRAZY. sounds unreal but freaking amazing
he actually smiles that way so it sounds better. believe me or not
You have 97 seconds to interdemensionally split your soul into 4 corners of the universe and SING
your tuning is ridiculously insane. Perfect tuning, absolutely no wavering in the voice. Incredible muscian.
The 4 of y’all are going places
i love how he shakes his head perfectly in sinc with the others lol
At least measures 1-6 and measures 8-22, 24 are based on Etude Op. 10 No. 3 (in E Major) by F. Chopin - some measures more obviously than others. And even that gap, m. 7, is rhythmically the same as Chopin’s melody over the parallel stretch, so mm. 6-8 are probably mainly a re-harmonization of that stretch from Chopin’s original. If so, then it is just the cadential extension, part of m. 24 to the end (once the main “final” cadence is completed) that I don’t hear as borrowing from Chopin’s work at all. This is very well done borrowing, folks.
The source material, "No Other Love," written in 1950, is known to have been based on the Etude. Listen to the original. It's not disguised at all.
I'd like you to do something with Geoff Castellucci and his amazingly low bass voice. He's got amazing range. It would be fun to see it transcribed.
I was there for this...whole audience gave a standing ovation for a full minute. really special
That overtone though 🥹
The bass line "shining up above" is still one of my favorites! Nice work
I love when one guy does the job of four people and executes it flawlessly. I'll be listening to this for a while yet, my friend. Well done!
0:40 I love that Chopin-esque part😍
it's more than chopinesque, it's a literal transcription of the study in e major
@@vulkanosaure major*
@@nathanielatkin304 right, i edited
that was some of the most creative harmony i’ve seen in awhile. definitely gonna borrow what you did on “moon and stars above” 😭 well done!!
Never heard this song, but love the homage to Chopin’s Tristesse etude in that climax/ending. Not sure if that’s just this arrangement or not but it’s neat!

Totally agree! I also felt it❤
impress just a girl? im a boy and if a man sang that to me, i inmediatily fall in love with him
Fantastic as always and I love seeing the music come along with it. Thank you!
His harmonies are so strong they just melt into each other
Aside from the AMAZING singing, can we just respect the genius? By naming this "when you have 97 seconds to impress a girl" you get so many more clicks without compromising the integrity of the title. Bravo!
That may have just been the most incredible harmonization I have ever heard.
My father was a member of The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (I hope I got that right) and he would have loved this even more than I do!
Great job!
The build up towards the end is SOOOO good
Thanks for this transcription, I've been trying to pluck out the parts since the tag was released but his damn blend is too good lmao
This cover by Tim has so be my favorite. I just love it so much, it was how I originally found out about him, and it’s gotten me through some rough times ❤
I just sat here for a solid 10 seconds with goosebumps everywhere. Holy cow your voice is amazing!
Out-of-this-world amazing!!! Never heard anything more FABULOUS!
Killed it!! Well done!
That's great! It sounds fantastic. Great voicings, good technique, etc. I'm impresse. Nice transcription, too!
All I can say is god bless every baritone in every quartet.
Baritones have the most fun
he’s so good that he sounds like the just intonation setting on tonal energy
he looks so happy and i'm here for it
Jesus, that was incredible. The transcription as well, I've learned a lot about harmony from just analyzing these barbershop transcriptions... and I'm a classical musician! lol
This is Amazing bro!! Keep doing this man!
Stunning Tim, this quartet would smash all known scoring records 👏
As a choir nerd, this is... I m p r e s s i v e
That was wonderful young man. I enjoyed your song very very much. I wish you continued success with all of your musical endeavors.
How beautiful!!!! Your voice range is incredible :D
This was absolutely epic!!
All I can say is "Wow!" Keep these wonderful Tags coming!
Whoa!! Haven’t heard this in some time. Major goosebumps!!
THIS IS AMAZINGGGG SO BEAUTIFUL
Aight, I'm sold. Let's get married.
dude... I am so sorry that you will be forever alone in your life. :( I will be praying for your strength
Killer tag. Bravo Tim!
Damn, I'm happy about the fact yt algorythm get me in here
I know a lot of people say this but I genuinely think this is the most pleasing, beautiful, and perfect thing I’ve EVER heard, BRAVO
Tim Waurick is the absolute best!
This was inspired by Chopins Tristese! it’s one of his Etudes Op no 3 in e major
the last chord was so well done, your voice is more stable than steel
Jet fuel can't melt Tim Waurick
Well THIS girl is impressed!
His vocal control is just ridiculous, this is a whole other level of awesome!
that moment you see that long line. my heart sank
All your harmony was fabulous but that last chord just made my day. Like an inner ear massage. Or something
i just watched it back 6 times in a row it amazed me every time
This was amazing. And that hold out on the note was great....and this guy really loves the american hard R.
As a girl, I am definitely impressed
You had me at this SONG!! wow
Thank you! It's so beautiful! I can't understand why I hear F8 at the word "Love" at the end of the song. It's some joke of the harmony :)
In barbershop quartet singing, that note is called the "overtone". When singers are perfectly in tune, your brain is tricked into hearing a voice that isn't there. The higher harmonics from the 4 voices combine to match the higher harmonics that *would* be there if there was a 5th singer on the high F. Your brain hears all those high harmonics and chooses to interpret it as a 5th singer on the high note, since that's more likely than multiple singers being perfectly in tune.
@@Paul_K_ It's interesting :) Once I heard an overtone (an octave higher) while listening to the record of our ensemble. I was rather surprised then )
I'm obsessed with this tag and I really appreciate the effort you made with the transcription, but I believe there are some mistakes, although it could be my ear betraying me.
When you have 96 seconds to impress a girl:
Turn into 4 people?
That's the only way
Give me a moment to collect my jaw from the floor.
you may have the moment you requested
Dammmm that harmony is really good
you’re right i am very impressed
I’m just trying to figure out where he took the breath in the tenor 2 part for the last 9 measures.
Absolutely phenomenal!
THIS IS INCREDIBLE???
My pants went straight to the floor.
Making a bari sing an A is just mean-spirited.
Bb also! How rude of the arranger
This like legit gave me chills. I am quite literally shook
Your gaze is spellbound by/with/of/through love!! :))
I’m thoroughly impressed.
Omg the vocals that was amazing
Holy What the Found THIS IS AMAZING!!!! Watching/ Listening again and again. This is exciting to experience!!
This was such a joy to experience!!
tim is iconic
It's insane how in tune the whole performance was, but THAT TAG, MY GOD!
Sounds EXTREMELY manually tuned, like melodyne… but hey it’s good I ain’t hating
Absolutely phenominal ! Quite nice
Music is beautiful, smile is creepy.
More videos like this of you man!! Awesome.
Now she'll never leave! They already come to hear the quartet. But they always stay for the Bass! Now we get the melody! They'll never leave! Beautiful 97 seconds! Thanks Tim!
golly that last chord
amazing
That baritone part is insane. Love it.
This is just brilliant and beautiful
Mate, no words, come on, this is Heavenly
a masterpiece.
