    I got mine last year , studied for a couple of months as well at a self pace. Everything shes said is true , for those who are planning to study it please please take your time cause if you don't , you will burn out real quick. Don't rely on prof messer too much , focus more on reading the book and practicing the chapter quizes and so forth overall

    Hi Sandra! I'm studying for the Sec+. I try to study about an hour to an hour and half a day. I do 25 mins on 5 mins off a couple times. I passed my A+ September 2022. I watch Professor Messer and read my Security + Book, however though I know employers will want to see some kind of hands-on experience. I currently am a Tier 2 Service Desk Technician as I been doing this as my first IT job for about a year and half. Though I want to move onto bigger and better things, most of all make more money and skyrocket my career while being proficient. Thank you for your videos. Sometimes the material sticks and some days it does not which has been somewhat frustrating at times.

      @@Mrsniffles17 I actually got my first IT job without my A+, no IT experience. A lot of it has to do with selling yourself in the interview. Also having customer service experience, I feel really helped. I had 10 years as an Auto Tech background with 8 + years as a Service Advisor.
      I probably put out about 28 to 30 resumes, before being contacted for an interview.

      thats great man. i do the same, but try to get at least 30 pages a day, some test practice, and do some tryhackme walkthrough. That is my way if getting real security experiance so that when i do get the cert, i could get a good job. i spoke with some people, and they say to get good at managing a SIEM, Vulnerability managment, and perhaps microsoft AD. I hope you hit ur goals man, staying consistent while having a job seems tough, but ur doin it. keep goin

      @pigskinrode0 Pƙed rokem +1

      @Jon jones I think my problem is i'm worried about overstudying where I don't retain anything. So I tried to do increments every day. And at least take one day off the week to just rest my mind. I know some people who can study for 3 and 4 hours a day. But I'm gonna keep on working hard because this is something. I really want to be good at it, and there's also goals in my life that are not career wise that I want to succeed and finally be able to do. With that financial comfort that I can get with having a good job.

    I am attempting to self study but I am struggling on where to start. I have the all in one Comptia security+ exam sy0-601 version. I feel like I am giving myself more information than I actually need is there any free forms where I could help study and get all the information I need

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  Pƙed 8 měsĂci +1

      I used the all in one textbook too and it contains everything in the Sec+ exam! unfortunately, it's just a LOT of information upfront, especially if you're just starting out. I wouldn't choose a study resource that's watered down because you can easily miss important topics/vocab that could be on the exam. Professor Messer's course may be helpful here more than a textbook though since the info is delivered a bit more digestible. Another option would be to start with the A+ cert first (this is split into 2 separate exams so you don't have to cram as much info into your head at a time), and then once you're ready, begin studying for the Sec+ again. Wishing you the best of luck!!

      So have any past experiences or portfolio? I ask because I've gotten an interview and an assessment, the assessment was penetration testing but both I got due to my experience, and I feel if I had my sec+, that would just give me a good nudge to show I know about security as well. Reason is I can’t get acronyms to stick despite knowing the concepts so I’m watching this every morning and evening hoping it’ll help czcams.com/video/GBHim0-CyzU/video.html
    Does it make sense to really work on the acronyms or wouldn’t it be super necessary for the exam?
