I support the pretense of girls in the IT filed especially dealing with hardware. Your content is valuable to inspire all other girls.
Thank you so much for the support!! Yes it's tough dealing with hardware tbh. I always need help racking equipment but I hope to inspire girls who wanna pursue the tech field
@@EastCharmer I would love to help You with racking equipment 😉
I just started as a network administrator a couple months ago and your videos have been very helpful for me. Thank you for your work!
Wow that's great!! Congrats!! I'm glad the videos are helpful!!
It's nice to see that you're using basically the same methodology, a job well done!
Thank you so much! I hope we are doing it right!
Currently working IT in a school and looking to get more into networking... These videos are amazing, please keep up the hard work!! I am learning so much... :)
Thank you! Will do! Goodluck on your studies!! I hope I can make more videos like this!
channel and presentation has come a long way from the first few videos........props!!!.....always a good video
Thank you so much!! I'm really trying my best to improve the quality and editing in my videos. I got new equipment too to improve the video and audio quality
Great information, thank you for compiling and sharing!!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this content! I'm trying to get my foot in the door for a network engineer role and am currently studying for the CCNA. I'm happy to see all the things that are implemented from the CCNA studies in your video! Thank you so much for making these videos!
Thank you! Glad you liked this content! Goodluck on your CCNA studies!! Keep practicing your labs! Hopefully I can make more videos like this
@@EastCharmer Thank you, I hope to see more of them in the future!
there is something neat about watching someone do the jobs you do as well, def seen some things that made me go ":huh interesting ill have to give that a try" lol,I have transitioned into a Cisco Voice Engineer role recently while my previous position was IT Support for a Franchising company, college and a Financial company.
thank you! yeah I really like sharing real world videos like this. Did you take a certification just for voice? that's an interesting role. I also work on IP phones but all I do is configure and troubleshoot them. what's your role like?
@@EastCharmer No, the company I started working for was just looking for anyone with IT/Networking experience and was willing to train people to fill the role and pay for certs. I did have some experience managing stuff in Communication Manager and Unity for a small company and my general IT experience in other businesses they gave me a shot... My role is at a MSP and the contract my department is on is for a hospital/healthcare for several states and I am assigned a particular region. So I deal with the basic stuff like troubleshooting and basic configuring of Cisco VoIP phones, provisioning servers for new sites are being build, doing network hardware upgrades like configuring and installing new Voice Gateways, troubleshooting analog cabling and troubleshooting PRI/SIP calling issues. Going into telecom has been interesting. We are encouraged to pursue certs. Never thought I would pivot into telecom but it has been fun and interesting side of the IT/Networking field.
CCST>CCNA>CCNP: Collaboration.
@EastCharmer I did not go down the certification path. My last position used Cisco VoIP systems and the IT department was small, so we all received a crash course on how to use and support it. The company I work for now hired me because I had some experience in CUCM and Unity and a strong IT background in general.
The company I currently work for is an MSP, and I primarily support a hospital system in the region, so there are multiple locations. I received a lot more on-the-job training, from troubleshooting phones and basic configuration in CUCM to building small departments in CUCM and building and deploying ESXi servers and voice gateways for new hospitals being built. I also troubleshoot SIP/PRI calling issues and still work with analog some for faxing.
It has been an interesting transition from just typical IT/networking work, but it has been very enjoyable.
❤ a lot of respect for you, u r giving very special details thank you for that, plz make more videos for freshers who wants to enter in this type of jobs
That is nice information thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and i appreciate you sharing this
You are so welcome!!! Glad you liked the content!
Plan ko din kumuha ng Comptia A+ dis coming August para bag grumaduate sa April may hawak nako. Coming 2nd year this fall as IT system.
I got the book from amazon need ko paba ung mismong practice exam book?
Thank you for sharing this video, it's very useful (:
You're welcome 😊! I'm glad you find it useful!
very interesting! watching from Burundi
Thanks for watching!!!
nice content, knowledgable for people who works in private corporate company
Thank you! Glad you liked the content!
thank you for sharing this content! keep up the great work! Hopefully your switch deployment project includes introducing some cable management. While it can be a pain to implement it can be a life saver and helps to provide air flow to those network devices. There's nothing worse then a curtain of copper/fibre!
you're very welcome!! I will keep on posting content like this! oh yes I agree! we are also trying to clean up cables as we replace the switches
Congrats on switch upgrades, projects like this are very good experience. 😊as far the fiber cover in the in the fiber LIU we or i call them fiber dust caps, ex old fiber guy myself, have been learning networking for some time now still alot to learn, enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much!! Yes indeed! I learned a lot from this project. Oh I see I've never heard that before. Thanks for the tips! are you currently studying networking? Fiber can also be a pain to work with especially if you don't know enough about it.

You are doing great, yes got my start in a 50000 square foot data center, I'm always studying. Alot to learn. Work now in Lan environment not as fun as data center my opinion.😊 Take care.

What's the best place to start a career as a IT admin? Could you provide steps to follow? Thanks.
Thanks for sharing knowledge
My pleasure!! I hope you enjoyed the video!
Music reminds me of chilledcow lofi back in the day (lofigirl)
oh nice!
Smart Pinays are the absolute best
Thank you!
I've yet to do a network install and setup where we didn't run into ANY issues lol
(i think ive been doing this for about 4 years now, off and on)
Hello how to buy bavk those decommissioned switches
Once you get good at the manual steps. Time to learn how to automate it.
I agree!! That's why I'm learning scripting now!
@@EastCharmer funny enough i just built something to upgrade these exact models automatically then toss a config on them. Let me know if you want any pointers or starter code
When configuring a new switch are you expected to know how to do everything yourself or are you usually handed like instructions from a higher up in I.T? I'm currently job searching but I'm just worried about forgetting commands. I'm sure they'll allow me to research before implementing changes though on interfaces.
If you're a more junior role, they expect you to know the fundamentals atleast like how to load an OS? How to power on the switch and console into it. It also depends on your role and department. We have a networking team that does all the configuration file for us and we just implement and install the devices. It was my first switch project so I shadowed a senior member and we were also given instructions. If you're new to the team, they usually have someone mentor you and your work gets approved first before making changes. So don't worry much about forgetting commands, just understand how it works. They don't hand a major project to a junior member and have them do stuff by themselves
subscribed. how long does it take for one to be fully prepared for CCNA?
It depends on your level of knowledge. If you already have the fundamental networking knowledge, then maybe 3-6 months. if you're starting from scratch, maybe longer
Is that a ThinkBook? Love my ThinkBook at work, we’re upgrading to Merakis at our companies locations, great video 🙏
Yes It's an X1 Carbon 6th Gen. I also love it, it's light yet powerful. oh wow! I love Meraki! good for you. I really love their management portal. It's easy to set up and manage. We're also upgrading APs but our corporate IT chose the Catalyst AP instead
Make sure you keep the Meraki licenses updated. if you dont, once the license expires everything stops working. And as a Network Admin i carry the X1 too..it's great.
@@TheDexterFishbourne great advice
@@EastCharmer Agreed! Love Merakis GUI, it’s so user friendly and so easy to read. We’re transitioning from an Aruba switch. That X1 with that ThinkPad dock is so amazing, might have to buy one for home use.
So being that the config file is provided to you, do you do any pre-checks before bringing the old switch down like pinging the new switch IP address within the config file to make sure it is NOT a duplicate IP? What if you do find an issue with the config file that you just know will cause a problem with the new switch, do you stop the upgrade and notify the engineers of a potential issue with the config file? Or do you just proceed with the upgrade as instructed and when it fails, proceed with correcting the config file and/or reach out for support?
yes of course we do pre-checks. we don't rack the new switches if we find issues with them. and before we even configure the IP address to the new switch, we've already planned what IP address and hostname we'll use for them. and of course we've checked if those IP address are available to use. These are all validation we have to do even before ordering and configuring the switches. It's part of the project planning. We don't configure IP address on the spot. Idk who does that. If we find issues with the new config like we did, we don't rack the switches yet until we fix the issues. The upgrade will be postponed but not stopped but this is depending on the situation too. Our old switches are still working so we have the luxury of taking our time with the project and making sure that they don't have issues before we rack them. Also, we still keep the old switches racked for weeks just in case an issue happens with the upgrade, we can still go back to the old switch. I've mentioned in the video that it is best practice to not decom the switch right away
the contain you provide is really helpful. can you provide us the pdf guide along with your video please.
Thanks!! oh that's a nice idea!!
Hi. New subscriber, you look like a Filipina.😅
Thanks for subbing! Yes I am!!
I'm trying to learn what are the specs of the switches the others are using and why. Question is why did your company upgraded to 25Gb? I mean what is the purpose for choosing this high? Is this for access, distribution or will serve as a core switch?
oh yeah for sure! we upgraded to 25gb because we are adding more devices/servers soon and we want to accommodate the new devices. These are access switches
Bandwidth, of coarse. There upgrading there infrastructure, so you would assume there also upgrading other aspects like Servers and need additional capacity.
Dear Leacturer Please make complate course video LIke CCNA CCNP MCSA and Network Security
Sister I am your big fan from India , full support to you keep going ❤❤
Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Can you make video how can I become networking engineer
Could you share with the config file
It's in the video
Your very cute and thanks for the video
No problem 😊
Hey can tell what salary package in network engineer what is your salary
That depends on the industry you're working in and the company
How many years of experience do you have now
I think it's 6-7 years now
Why decommission a device if it's still working? I mean, what's the purpose?
It's decommissioned because it was replaced. Like I mentioned in the video, it was end of life from the manufacturer and we also upgraded to 25 GB
@@EastCharmer Thank you so much, I am also working in IT field and I liked your video.
@MachineBrain-AI4ALL you're welcome!! Oh nice!! Another IT folk. It also depends on the company too. Sometimes the old device gets repurposed. We also do that sometimes
@@MachineBrain-AI4ALLEOL means that it is out of support and out of warranty. No security updates and overall not compliant with security and availability standards.
are you a filipina?
Yes
you look like Soma Laishram (manipuri actress) ♥
Oh wow thanks. I looked her up and she's beautiful
whats that on the neck??!?!
A mic
lapel mic
You need to know math as administrator networking?
Not really. Based on my experience, I've not used any math formulas at work. Just the subnetting concept
Hope you put the configuration, direct to the point important key point no long estorya... Long long long introduction or to much talking, important key point.. thank you
Sir with all due respect, the title says "Detailed switch upgrade project" and not just "switch config file".
Is your logo a brain or a cloud? I go back and forth. Or is it a brain cloud or a cloud brain? Sh*it.... I wonder what a poor cloud would do if it could think.
It's a cloud!
i think networking field is going to die soon NFV will replace us wich mean the cloud people are in the right side
There will always be a networking field. Networking doesn't just go away because of the Cloud.
Great content!
Thank you so much!!
