I think it depends a lot on the country. My best friend bought 10 years ago two lots of land overlooking the sea in Chile for $40k and just sold one lot for $500k and the other lot he built a house that is driving great rental revenue. He wanted to buy in Peru but there the system is not safe. I also saw issues in Mexico. So I think it all depends on the country. I have friends who bought and moved to Guiones and are super happy. But I hear you that Latin America in general can be risky.
