@@BigBossGRI've gone through this before but Kojima uses violence to and violation and deaths of women as a crutch to (attempt to) inject strong emotions into his stories too often, and it feels really hack-y at times. Often there's a lack of setup and payoff and just there to be shocking and edgy. It's a little different with Naomi but her death is just plain stupid so you don't really feel anything for her, so the game instead focuses on Otacon's reaction because we actually care about him haha. Wrt Death Stranding... all I can say is that the female characters and their stories are more interesting than in MGS. It's still not great but I think it's an improvement.

The people that were holding Sunny were ordered to killed her if Raiden's vitals monitor flatlined. He saved Sunny from them. So now she is free and no longer in danger of that.
Also we don't even know if that was true, it was what they told Olga to get her to keep Raiden safe so for all we know they could have lied about that as well.
Saw someone mention this in a previous video and she responded to them trying to refute it. Based on that and the fact that she still seems to assume Sunny is somehow tied to Raiden, I can only come to the conclusion that she doesn’t want to accept that she’s mistaken

You can see the date when I save VS the date the video is uploaded, you'll understand what I mean. So of course what I say in these does not reflect what I came to know later from you guys' comments. It's a small failing of Whimsy to not read item descriptions, tbh. It's not the first time she doesn't grasp basic item functions when they're explained in the item/weapon window.
What's funny about the Vamp fight is that Otacon immediately gave the syringe answer. It was because Whimsy after the first stamina-kill slit Vamps throat immediately, when usually confused players have to go the second health bar all over again and only THEN receive the syringe answer. 😄
So, Raiden, just as an idea for the future: instead of holding back the propulsive power of an entire mega-submarine, maybe just grab Snake, throw him over your shoulder, and run.

Also another thing that makes this cutscene sad is what Otacon says just before REX stands up. I have no more tears to shed is a call back to when Snake returned Wolf's handkerchief in MGS1.
Super cool cosplay. Nailed it as always. Love the USB, I had the same one. 😂 28:45 The cosplay still holds up since you always liked Vamp. It's kinda cool to have that split view and the Raiden Vamp fight, but also, you can't really watch it at all, because you need to concentrate on the Gekkos way too much. 😂 That Gekko fight was pretty tough. There are so many of them! It's not just Metal Gear. Chloe, Shepard (more or less twice even, maybe), Tifa (They even created a world with Zack alive, to kill off Tifa, just because you cosplayed her). You killed off so many characters already... Driving the Rex was super fun, also the boss fight against Liquid. Raiden does ninja moves all over... can't evade some rubble falling down. That Ray scream surely also meant "BROTHER!!!" upon seeing Rex. 😂 I would've expected that the close combat attacks would do more damage. I stayed back and never used them and destroyed Ray without taking too much damage myself. Liquid has a huge ship with surely dozens of weapons on it.... decides to kill Snake by ramming him. 01:46:55 Dude, don't kill Mei Ling also! 01:51:25 And his hands on all the places. Great episode! A little background on Rising since you're playing it next: the development started in house by Kojima's team and was meant to be set between MGS2 and MGS4, telling the story of how Raiden rescued Sunny. But since the studio was having a lot of issues and Kojima didn't want to direct to persue other projects, the development was handed over to Platinum games who changed the setting and continued the story of Raiden after MGS4. The game was not written by Kojima so it's not strictly canon but it does not contraddict the main games in any way so it's up to you to decide if it is.
MGR even as a complete different type of Metal Gear game, has a lot of respect for the franchise's canon and adds to the continuity, it's fair to say that it is indeed a canon game

not sure if it's during the Act 4 Metal Gear boss fight or the final boss fight in Act 5 or both but there's a hidden health recovery feature where if you taunt with the action button Snake will yell "LIQUID!!!" (if it's during Act 4 REX will also roar) but if Liquid also replies with his "SNAKE!!!" taunt, Snake will recover some health but only if both make the taunt so if possible taunt when he does. The game doesn't give you an action button warning so that's why I figure it's not a spoiler

What Olga said in MGS2 is that his nanomachines were linked to the Patriots. They had Sunny and threatened to kill her if Olga didn't ensure Raiden was able to beat solidus because Solidus wanted to destroy the Patriots. That's what all that was about. There wasn't like a link directly between them.

The physical impossibility of Raiden literally stopping the Outer Haven that was about to squash Snake made my lacrimal glands absolutely insane back in 2008. I was a wreck. I never hated Raiden like people used to, so him basically doing the franchise's cyborg ninja thing of defending and sacrificing for the main playable character over and over again in the game (which I admit IS in fact overused, yes) still made sweet mental love to me as a teenage fan of this series.
Got a little bit frustrated with you not reading the Railgun Info, wich was on display a hundred times and tells you abuot charging it up to level 2 and 3 lol. Glad you figured out in the end. :)
The atonement of one's sins or failures is a common theme during MGS so far. Otacon, Peter Stillman, Sokolov, and now Naomi Hunter mentions it. But it can be very wrong if it leads you to commite suicide, just as Naomi did in this chapter.
Just to remember : RAY is designed to be anti-Metal Gear... and is piloted by Liquid, who is the superior clone. And REX and Snake defeated them anyway. :D
Naomi is very confusing to a lot of people who are desperately trying to find meaning in her actions and understand her character, but she was a severely damaged person who probably never fully understood what she was doing herself. An orphan girl who grew up in a war zone, she didn't even know her real name. It is difficult to imagine that level of confusion.
Now i can tell you, when raiden its being smashed by outer heaven and you hear rose and raiden talking you can spam X to see the flashback final from mgs2

1:05:07: Perhaps it's due to what she said at the end of the first game when she said this to Snake: "You mustn't allow yourself to be chained to fate". She may have been reffering to herself as well, seeing how she must've contracted cancer as well (perhaps directly implying it from when she talked about gene therapy being able to splice in beneficial genes that are resistant to cancer) and rather than submit to it, she fought it with the nanomachines, only to now accept her fate that she'll never be rid of it and decides to commit Hara-kiri as her acceptance to fate. During the Metal Gears fight, you can press R1 to have REX do some CQC moves. 1:37:14: Kojima's showing his sense of humor again.
So just to clarify, Sunny wouldn't die if Raiden dies, the Patriots were holding her since birth and threatening Olga with her death if Raiden failed his mission aka died. She doesn't have a bomb or killer nanomachines in her tied to Raiden's life signs or anything, though I can't blame you for thinking that with how MGS is in general. The threat to Sunny was over when Raiden rescued her, Sunny doesn't care so much about Raiden because his life is tied to hers, it's because he saved her and she's just a good person.
I think you’re a little confused, in MSG2 Olga said her child will be deleted if Raiden failed meaning she would be deleted by them . When Raiden said I’m sorry Sunny is because she loves him and doesn’t want him to die
MGR is also perfectly fine to play, story-wise, at any time after you beat 4, and 90% of it works even if you haven't played MGS at alI. I love that you don't need a PHD in Metal Gear lore to enjoy that game.
Remember in MGS1 Gray Fox telling Snake, “I’m a prisoner of death only you can free me”? Compare what Raiden said to Snake in MGS4, “I’ll release you, it the only way I’ll ever be free!”👀

Triangle hovering over a weapon or item allows you to buy ammo for it so you don't have to search the shop for subsequent playthroughs and be sure to read item and weapon descriptions all the way through
First, love the cosplay. My favorite of your MG series so far. So simple but to me it just works, especially love the Id Card and USB. Perfect! Just wanted to really say (in case you didn't know) you can keep the rations equipped and not have to worry about your health, it will use them automatically. At least, that was the way I used to do it if I wasnt using any other equipment. If that helps you or not. Also you might be surprised at how many different ways or strategies the entire series offers for every task. So much freedom to experiment with, that i was finding new solutions many years later in every game. Keep up the good work!

not sure if it's during the Act 4 Metal Gear boss fight or the final boss fight in Act 5 or both but there's a hidden health recovery feature where if you taunt with the action button Snake will yell "LIQUID!!!" (if it's during Act 4 REX will also roar) but if Liquid also replies with his "SNAKE!!!" taunt, Snake will recover some health but only if both make the taunt so if possible taunt when he does. The game doesn't give you an action button warning so that's why I figure it's not a spoiler

The Naomi death falls so flat. The most unnecessary death in the franchise only because Kojima has a quota that Otacon must have a devestating loss in each game. He writes Hal like he hates him.

Raiden and Sunny aren't linked. What Olga said in MGS2 is that his nanomachines were linked to the Patriots. They had Sunny and threatened to kill her if Olga didn't ensure Raiden was able to beat solidus because Solidus wanted to destroy the Patriots. That's what all that was about. There wasn't like a link directly between them.

The physical impossibility of Raiden literally stopping the Outer Haven that was about to squash Snake made my lacrimal glands absolutely insane back in 2008. I was a wreck. I never hated Raiden like people used to, so him basically doing the franchise's cyborg ninja thing of defending and sacrificing for the main playable character over and over again in the game (which I admit IS in fact overused, yes) still made sweet mental love to me as a teenage fan of this series.
Naomi's death definitely just feels like Kojima trying to wrap everything up, since MGS4 was written as the big finale.

Sunny and Raiden's vital signs are only linked from MGS2-Plant until Raiden rescues her.
The atonement of one's sins or failures is a common theme during MGS so far. Otacon, Peter Stillman, Sokolov, and now Naomi Hunter mentions it. But it can be very wrong if it leads you to commite suicide, just as Naomi did in this chapter.
Japan does not consider s*icide as wrong its seen as a way to regain honor

Naomi is very confusing to a lot of people who are desperately trying to find meaning in her actions and understand her character, but she was a severely damaged person who probably never fully understood what she was doing herself. An orphan girl who grew up in a war zone, she didn't even know her real name. It is difficult to imagine that level of confusion.
Now i can tell you, when raiden its being smashed by outer heaven and you hear rose and raiden talking you can spam X to see the flashback final from mgs2

She may have been reffering to herself as well, seeing how she must've contracted cancer as well (perhaps directly implying it from when she talked about gene therapy being able to splice in beneficial genes that are resistant to cancer) and rather than submit to it, she fought it with the nanomachines, only to now accept her fate that she'll never be rid of it and decides to commit Hara-kiri as her acceptance to fate.
During the Metal Gears fight, you can press R1 to have REX do some CQC moves.

So just to clarify, Sunny wouldn't die if Raiden dies, the Patriots were holding her since birth and threatening Olga with her death if Raiden failed his mission aka died. She doesn't have a bomb or killer nanomachines in her tied to Raiden's life signs or anything, though I can't blame you for thinking that with how MGS is in general. The threat to Sunny was over when Raiden rescued her, Sunny doesn't care so much about Raiden because his life is tied to hers, it's because he saved her and she's just a good person.
I think you’re a little confused, in MSG2 Olga said her child will be deleted if Raiden failed meaning she would be deleted by them . When Raiden said I’m sorry Sunny is because she loves him and doesn’t want him to die

Triangle hovering over a weapon or item allows you to buy ammo for it so you don't have to search the shop for subsequent playthroughs and be sure to read item and weapon descriptions all the way through
First, love the cosplay. My favorite of your MG series so far. So simple but to me it just works, especially love the Id Card and USB. Perfect! Just wanted to really say (in case you didn't know) you can keep the rations equipped and not have to worry about your health, it will use them automatically. At least, that was the way I used to do it if I wasnt using any other equipment. If that helps you or not. Also you might be surprised at how many different ways or strategies the entire series offers for every task. So much freedom to experiment with, that i was finding new solutions many years later in every game. Keep up the good work!
