  • We're excited to now carry the 40 foot Halfline rope in a 9.5 mm option! If you already have or would rather climb with a Mad Rock Safeguard or Petzel Grigri, this rope is for you. Both are great devices for SRT or RADs. You no longer need 75 feet of rope; with the Halfline attachment points, use your preset paracord loops as an extension of your rope.

    Climbing trees for saddle hunting using arborist methods like SRT (SRS), DRT (MRS), or RADs are a very safe and minimalist method for mobile saddle hunters if done properly and with the right equipment. We are showing you exactly how we climb into trees with minimal equipment, cost and effort.
    This method may not be for everyone, but think of it as another tool in your arsenal. We believe climbing using either SRT, DRT, or RADs is one of the safest, quietest, least expensive ways to climb a tree for saddle hunting. We hope you all benefit from these methods. Please like and share with others.
    Feel free to comment down below with your questions, We'd love to help in any way we can.

    This is awesome guys. Thanks so much for your wisdom. Now I have just one rope for presets and one sticking. And since I use just my predator or cruzr platform, both have a ultimaider 3 step attached to them, my setup is ultra light. When I one stick, I just tie a fisheman knot on the other end and attach quick link. Thanks again.

    Thank you for proving this will work before I could go put and validate myself. I was thinking the same since I have the grigri + and it sure looked the same as SRT with just a smaller length of line.

      Yes ! Between half the rope and the attachments, girth hitching your limbs or trunk from the ground. It doesn’t get anymore efficient.
      We were talking about doing this since so many that followed us through the yrs were already climbing on Madrock and Gri Gri +. We knew we had to do this .

      @hornedadder Před 5 měsíci

      @@NYSaddleHunter, yes. I believe when I ordered it, you were sold out of the other parts, so I shopped around for the other parts. I may end up switching out the foot loop for a foot ascender. I'm going to be using it with my JX3 hybrid, and others had recommended using a foot ascender with the JX3 instead of the foot loop.

    I appreciate all you guys do! I would have never figured out how to girth hitch 25 ft up by myself. I'd like to let you know what I've been doing. I don't set paracord loops. I set Mason's string loops. It's braided and is more than enough on an easy crouch to pull up my 9mm rope. I use the string to pull up my 50 ft of paracord thatikeep with me. Then the string is retied and its not used again. It's lasted 3 yrs so far left in the tree....Once i girth hitch i now have a paracord and tag end of 9mm hanging to pull my stuff up. I hope that is clearer than mud.
    Your friend in ky.

    I appreciate you bringing your experience as an arborist to CZcams, it's been very informative! What type of harness are you wearing in this video? I'm new to saddle hunting and I don't want to drop 150+ for a saddle until I'm sure I'm going to commit to this style of hunting. I'm looking for a simple harness with fabric loops like you're wearing here.

      Toddster, The one in the video is no longer in business . I’m now running a Cruzr XC. I’ve sat in this saddle a few yrs back and this entire season. It is by far the most lightweight and 100% Comfortable Saddle I’ve owned to date . Not all saddles work with these rope climbing methods. I’m 6’4” 220 lean , tall build for reference. I opted for a size 3 which is their largest and it’s perfect . I always want a little more room for adding layers in late season . I also tell people if you decide on the cruzr or any saddle and rope climb , ask them to install a second bridge. You want to keep one short for climbing in and out of your tree. And one long for sitting in total comfort. They are adjustable but are not easily adjusted with your body weight sitting in them. Plus it’s a safety call. You never come unclip when switching from short to long bridge and back again when time to climb down. I’m doing a new video on this topic to really explain it well . Ask all the questions you have or call anytime.
      We no longer offer the F4 or FCX with the 8mm rope.
      We gave upgraded to the 2.0 system. Same principle, same lightweight and compact system with more built in safety with 9mm and 9.5mm ropes .

    Would you mind sharing how you install the attachment point on the end of your rope that you attach the paracord and clip to.
    I know of a crude way to make an attachment point, was just wondering how you accomplish this to keep it more low profile.
    Thanks

  • @traepyfrom9803
    @traepyfrom9803 Před 11 měsíci

    What knots are you using on both sides of the paracord? and what is the knot that creates the loop on your climbing line? I tried a scaffold knot on my paracord presets but it keeps slipping.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Parachord. Double the rope up and tie a simple overhand knot if your using a S biner. Or tie one end off to any micro clip and loop with overhand on the the other.
      On the 9.5 I tie a Bowline with a cinch hitch. Your just taking the tag end and feeding back through the binding end of your bowline. Tag end , ends up in line with working end

      You have the lighter more compact of the two . The 9.5 was made because lots of folks have purchased Gri Gri + or Madrocks over the yrs and 9.5 is more compatible to those devices

    Hi Scott, I have purchased a half line rope and throw all kit from you. My question is….. when you SRT with the ct quick roll, you are using a short bridge, how can I safely switch to a longer bridge while hunting? Keep in mind I have a adjustable bridge with a prusick, I can change to a swabish or a Cornell, but the prusick gets soooooo tight it is very difficult to adjust. So my thought is to switch bridges in the hunting height using my lineman belt but it’s not my favorite thought after trying at ground level, do you have any other solutions?

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hey Michael, We’ve been running a double bridge for yrs now just for this reason. It makes transitioning to a longer bridge a snap and safe as ever . Climbing up on your short bridge keeps everything right in front of you and within easy reach . When you get to your hunting height and want to switch over to a tether on a longer more comfortable bridge. Follow these steps
      1) While remaining on your climbing rig , install your tree tether with your favorite hitch cord or if you chose a mechanical one . 2) Once your hooked up you can go ahead and let some slack out of your climbing rig on the short bridge until your longer one becomes taught with your body weight. Now you have a few options. You can build some redundancy into your long bridge by tying your tail end of tether off to your bridge . Or if you have a mechanical one tie in a hollow block for additional support.
      Myself I like to remain on my climbing rig and just slack off enough that my longer bridge and tether bear my weight. I have all the redundancy I need with two contact points . Sounds busy but it never gets in the way or interferes with positioning for a shot. You can also unclip your climbing rig if you choose to . Just keep it close in case of emergency evac.
      Hope this helps Michael

      Thanks Scott! That makes sense. Also, don’t pay any attention to the knuckle heads trying to cry about your prices. You offer a lot of value in the how to use the product video’s. I bet the companies they buy product from cheaper don’t have videos like you guys put out.

    • @NYSaddleHunter
      @NYSaddleHunter  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Slow is smooth, smooth is fast
      It’s actually pretty fast I’m slowing down to show the viewer how it’s done.
      It’s never a race to get into your tree. But if I had to. We’ll say 25’ is the mark. I’ll be up on my platform , bow and pack hanging in front of me ready to hunt before most get half of those tasks done . Your also talking to a guy who spent more than half his life in a tree . All my systems are very simple and very effective
