As a kid who was there in the late 80’s, early 90’s who watched Batman 1989 and Batman Returns so much that the VHS tapes were both almost eaten up by our VCR, to watch this scene in a modern movie theater as a full grown adult was an almost out of body experience. To get to witness something my generation NEVER thought we’d see again was such a blessing beyond words. Say what you want about the movie as a whole, but all the movie did for me was reinforce why Michael Keaton’s Batman will ALWAYS be the embodiment of the character on the big screen for many of us.
Michael Keaton will always be the only Batman I know. My dad took me to watch Batman returns when I was little , he’s since passed away. But i got to take my kids, his grandkids , to see this movie. To see the moon lit around the bat plane was awesome and something I’ll never forget to share with my kids
I saw Batman Returns with my father and my brother back in 1992 on my 11th birthday. Then my father and I saw this film on Father’s Day of 2023. The minute Michael Keaton said those two powerful words: “I’m Batman” we both cheered. I will cherish those moments forever 😂😂❤❤❤

Be honest, most of us went to see this movie for Michael Keaton as Batman. It was my first time seeing his Batman on the silver screen and it was great.

WB execs were/are legitimately insane if they somehow thought Flash was going to hit a billion-plus with all those factors working against it. And that's not counting all the money they spent on getting him into the Batgirl film, a (completed) project that was such a non-starter (apparently because the title star didn't talk for a good chunk of the runtime) that it was better to cancel it outright rather than just release it. WB Discovery deserves all the failures it's been getting.
@crazyrabbits as far as I'm concerned, it's crazy to think that a movie which has 4 Batmen, Wonder Woman, 4 Supermen, 4 Flash's, Aquaman would flop. Really says a lot. Then again BVS didn't really do well considering what it had going for it

The Batman did marginally well, but now that's a dead brand considering the DCU is in full play. Blue Beetle is on track to be another massive flop. There's just no getting around the fact that superhero films are oversaturated right now and no one seems to have any good ideas beyond "origin story x" that looks exactly the same as the previous film. I blame the failure of BvS on WB's misunderstanding that audiences would understand/sympathize with Clark sacrificing himself after only getting to know him for one movie, not to mention the film having tonal whiplash by claiming that most of humanity doesn't like him, only for them to turn around and get collectively sad when he dies. And weirdly enough, Snyder still functionally got nearly all of his "first phase" planned out/filmed in one form or another. Gunn will be lucky if he makes it through half a dozen "DCU" films before WB pulls the plug again.
That's because you must be young. Keaton was a revolution in his time. Bale and other actors have built their interpretation on Keaton's; he (and Tim Burton, of course) established the bases for Batman in movies.

I love that Batman’s suit, the bat mobile, and the batwing were not updated nor upgraded given all the technological advances that have occurred in the subsequent years. It was the original Batman in his original suit with his original equipment. If they had upgraded or modified anything of those things it wouldn’t have been as nostalgic as it was. The introduction of Michael Keatons Bruce Wayne/Batman ultimately saved (in my opinion) what was becoming a disaster of a film.
My dad loved 1989, with a passion, I remember me and him reenacted the classic “I want you to tell all your friends about me” scene when I was a kid and dressed as Batman for Halloween. He passed away In 2017. Oh to wonder what he would’ve thought of “yeah… I’m Batman”
