    This video was perfect for me because just 3 days ago I did something very similar and it's awesome to see you doing the same thing. Gives me confidence in my ability to formulate DIY products.
    I use 2% e-wax and 2% cetyl alcohol along with 8% MCT oil and 0.5% menthol crystals.
    It's absolutely the perfect consistency for a light and easily absorbed aftershave balm.

      @@HumblebeeAndMe Hi Marie, really enjoying your newer content, it's more focused. Can this same formula use Magnesium oil ( mag flakes & distilled water) as the water phase without changing the viscosity? I have been experimenting with a light lotion with Magnesium oil but still getting mild separation, still good, but really want to nail consistency. TIA. X

  • @KrymiPles

    Actually i have noticed many brands use CARBOMER in moisturizers and body lotions, carbomer is the gelling agent in Hand Sanitizers. Try this, you have a thick body butter, add your hand sanizer, mix it and you'll create a spreadable non sticky lotion (this is just to feel the texture not to actually use). That's exactly how brands make a quick absorbing lightweight body lotion. Check ingredients list next time in your lotions and you'll see CARBOMER for sure❤️

    • @KrymiPles
      @KrymiPles Před 10 měsíci +2

      Triethanolamine is the ingredient that adjusts the ph of the formula to activate the Carbomer to become gel❤️

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  Před 10 měsíci +17

      Yes, gelling ingredients like carbomer are definitely very popular! They're a great way to boost viscosity without increasing richness and can contribute to an absolutely delightful skin feel (swoon!). Other similar ingredients include Polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, and Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate. They're effective at really low levels and can do some stunning things 😍
      They can also be a bit of a pain to work with (some require neutralization with a strong base like NaOH or triethanolamine, others don't perform well with electrolytes, etc.), so I thought they weren't a great thing to include in a beginner-friendly formulation like this one. But I have used them in other formulations! Polyacrylate crosspolymer-6 (Sepimax ZEN) is what makes this formulation (www.humblebeeandme.com/ultra-light-summer-face-cream/) thick and creamy without being heavy 😄

      Cetearyl: Sort of a blend of the two-creamier that cetyl, silkier than stearic.
