Dodger is just the epitome of cool and swagger. Billy Joel ROCKED voicing him.
0:22 I always like when he does that pose. It's spells cool and confident.
He’s charmingly handsome for a dog
@@raecabrera5417 He sure is. That's why I love him.
FACTS
Well said comment!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Disney: just a simple ditty will do, it’s just a kid’s movie, don’t sweat it
Billy Joel: *goes hard anyway*
I'm on a Billy Joel binge and I was reminded of this nostalgia. Billy Joel doesn't half-ass anything. That man said "Cartoon dog in NYC? I got this..." and you best believe that Bette Midler was standing next to him going, "I also have some notes..."
💀💀
I mean come on.... he's Billy Joel
omggg I remember being like 7 or 8 watching this movie on VHS non stop and I'd be crying happy tears singing this song😭🥰🥰
I know right.....I was a few years younger.....but same here.....my original vhs got totally deteriorated at this song lol
Absolutely. Dodger was the peak of cool for a good long childhood while.
Me too.
I know I didn't exist then but it is like I can feel the happiness from that comment.
Same here 🙄😂
One of the greatest Disney songs of all time. I don't care how old I am, I'll always love this movie.
Dude hit like 4 keys on the piano and it didn’t even go with the beat and he still pulled it off that the level of swag I need in my life.
This movie is older than dirt (still a fucking great movie dont get me wrong) I just dont understand the comments being turned off on the original video . No kid is gonna be watching this, it's adults who watched this as kids
One of the most underrated Disney classics
Anything animated is considered for kids according to COPPA.
They are doing that to like all videos now. It's weird.
Do other parents not show their kids the classics anymore? My daughter loves this movie. I was a 90's kid and watched Disney from the 1930's!
Kid here who listens to this everyday
I'm 32 years old....I don't know why this song popped into my head😂😂
Cos it’s a fookin tune
It's a banger. I'm the same age and here because it's stuck in my head from when my daughter was watching it 😂
Because you have street savior faire!! Lol
Same
Why shouldn't you worry
I know this movie is technically from a Disney “dark era” but I love it. Billy Joel?! This song still is so good and will continue to be good for decades.
Wdym dark era?
@@TheAwesomeJeffrey the era of Disney from the early 70s to late 80s is considered the dark age of Disney. The animation is a bit looser, the stories aren’t as cookie cutter family friendly, they’re a bit more experimental. Basically anything between Disney classics (Snow White, Cinderella, sleeping beauty, etc) and the Disney renaissance (kicks off with the little mermaid in ‘89, Aladdin, lion king, etc). The dark age includes Oliver and company, the dark cauldron, rescuers - basically movies that don’t get included in a lot of Disney conversations
@@what.whatisthatyousay2929 also remember what happen with tesoto and roscoe and there owner they all died dark asf
That's a bad way to remember that time! Like remembering the bad times of a genocide! Maybe no that extreme but you gotta lighten up!
@@jonathanromero3765 I didn’t name it that. There are literally “eras” of Disney. Wartime era, silver age, Golden era, Disney renaissance, etc. The dark era is in reference to the time period after Walt Disney died and the brand was struggling to define itself. There are some great movies though, like Robin Hood, Jungle Book, and of course, Oliver.
One of the most underrated Disney songs out there! 29 years old and still can jam to this esp after 🍃💨 and im cleaning 😂
Me too , I was taking out garbage hahaha
When I was little, I saw this on the Disney singalong VHS and decided I wanted a cat to share an ice cream cone with. My parents relented and my sister and I received kittens for our birthday: Trixie and Sunflower.
It was the beginning of a long-ass obsession that has followed me into adulthood.
I am 34 and currently have two male feline-children.
My youngest cat is named Oliver after this movie...and, like in the movie, both of them love/steal my ice cream.
That is an absolutely cool and heartwarming story, happy for you, I got Husky (Oreo) after I saw this movie, I’m also 34. He passed away when back in 2006, haven’t had a friend like him since three years ago when I decided to get another Husky, her name is River and last year I got another boy husky his name is Storm.
This movie just brought back so many childhood memories, i remember watching it over and over and over again and loving it, so 80's, I'm 32 now and i don't think I'll ever get tired of it, i just watched it with my little one (2 year old) and he enjoyed it,
I really love how they made Dodger so handsome and good-looking.
He has a roguish charm, but he's also loyal, caring and heroic. He's one of the best Disney dogs ever.
Charming & roguish? A certain Disney pirate has that description
Yes because making a child help you steal sausages with the promise he would get them too and then proceeding to abandon him with nothing while he takes them for himself and his gang is totally heroic..
The best cartoon dog
And his voice itself has so much swagger and charisma
1. Oliver and Company
2. Treasure Planet
3. Brother Bear
4. Tarzan
5. Dinosaur
6. Fantasia 2000
7. Lilo and Stitch
My childhood Disney movies.
Treasure Planet!!! 🥰 I would rent it every week at the video store for me and my little sister until they closed and we bought it from them!
This, aristocats, the pebble and the Penguin, rockadoodle, Aladdin, the little giants, Matilda, rookie of the year, richie rich. My childhood movies. Lol
Um ...toy story, how TF could you leave that out
Easily one of the most underrated Disney songs
Yeah i remember nothing from this movie but this song is still lit.
I never knew the words to this as a child, and then 20 years later I learn that the lyrics are in fact full of French, specific places and hotels in NYC, and actual made up words. So now I feel validated.
My inner child has come alive again, popped up in my recommendations. Was not disappointed. This brought back so many childhood memories.
I forgot how much of a bop this was
Once the chorus hits, GODDAMN!🔥
I’m not too familiar with this movie, but I absolutely fell in love with that song from that first note!
its such a classic i suggest you give it a watch. i used to watch this all the time as a kid in the early 2000s on dvd LOL
I KNEW I RECOGNISED THE VOICE AND THIS CARTOON IS MY CHILDHOOD
who is it?
Billy Joel
Dodger wouldn't have been even 25% as cool and smooth if he wasn't voiced by Billy Joel.
Bruh I just turned 20 and this has brought back so many memories. Enjoy your time while you still haven’t got any worries “whoo whoo whoo”
Same to you. I'm going to be 26 soon and I remember when I was only 20. Don't grow up too fast even if you have to -
Oh this really takes me back. The music is so catchy. I mean really catchy.
I remember the Burger King advertised this movie along with those little toys.
Back then we used to have something called "Burger King Kids Club". Anyone remember that?
I'd never change the animation I grew up with for anything. I was born as Oliver but grew into Dodger because of quality content such as this.
Still own this VHS, probably watched it hundreds of times, never gets old!
I also have this movie on VHS and at home and when I was little I actually didn't know that Billy Joel was Dodger until my mom told me then I was like oh that's why his voice is familiar.
Everyone once in awhile ill go into a classic Disney mood to listen to the music..its just the kid in me that I seriously can't let go , its just who I am .
I’m 31, one of the old favorites of the Disney renaissance, timeless
This song is the only thing that helped with my depression when i ended up homeless when my foster home booted me immediately to the street when i hit 18 and i had no clue what to do with my life. now i happily have a home and still come back here
Truly one of the catchiest disney songs
1:32 Was this the original "Deal with it" moment?
Dodger is one of the GOAT Disney characters! He’s awesome! Also the fact that my kid loves all the good movies from the past is awesome lol.
One of the most underrated Disney songs and Movies of all time!!!!! 💯💯
2:17 I just now realized that three of the characters from Disney's "Lady & The Tramp" are cameoed in this scene from Oliver and Company!
This movie is KING of the VHS closet.
I used to have a foxhound named Dodger when I was younger. He had shorter hair but his coloring was very similar, and like this Dodger he was a free spirit. I think of him when I watch this movie. T.T
This is one of the best songs from a Disney Movie ever, argue with your Nanna
Top favorite!. Growing up memories!!!
I miss watching this movie.
0:27 I love Oliver’s reaction it’s so cute
1:56 is awesome. Love that part.
Great nostalgia. This was my favorite Disney movie from this decade. Still holds up👍
I love the music in this film!
1:44 me too.
Same
Most underrated disney movie ever
This song has been helping with my anxiety
This song was a banger ‼️‼️‼️
My childhood in a nutshell! been binge watching this movie for 20 years!
39 years old and still bumping this I miss the days where you can watch a movie listen to music like this and just be a happy kid
This is one charismatic dog
This and the Aristocat song was my favorite songs when I was little (6-8)
Growing up in NYC this will ALWAYS be my favorite Disney movie
5 year old me was madly in love with that dog lmao
Oliver: “That’s not fair!” 😡
Dodger: “Fairs are for tourists, kid. Consider this a free lesson in street savoir fare from New York’s coolest quadruped.” 😎
Our childhood was sweet
With Cold Air no doubt.
His voice is so amazing. This movie isn’t that popular but idk how this song didn’t become a huge iconic Disney song.
I always loved this song as a kid growing up. I swear though, those dogs at 1:38 are twerking...
An underrated Billy Joel Song.
OMG love this song
Me
Too
I used to sing this song
2:18 Lady-n-Tramp easter egg
+Dameion Alston It's about 2:16 - 2:17, but yes you are right.
101 Dalmatian's pongo is there too at 02:21
Lol Disney dogos unite
@@TBGDeathPunch Yep, I see Trusty the bloodhound and Jock the Scottish Terrier.
That’s what I love about this song. Cameos from dogs in the earlier years are in this video
1:38 such horn dogs. LOL!
I was gonna say, those dogs were twerking...
Oliver and Company 1989
Nooo. 1988. The Little Mermaid 1 is from 1989.
Billy Joel killed this
When I was a kid I use to hate it when the characters in Disney movies would start singing. Not in this movie! This song slaps!!! Such a head bobber!
Idk if this ever made me cool, but I definitely knew what cool was. Probably ignored its influence for other things. But here I am, admitting this is as cool as it gets. Like, I don’t even cringe at it. Just respect for what they made. Also really love how he cleans himself off after get dirty. Nice touch.
you’re cool.
This was one of my favorite movies coming up
Excellent song ♥️♥️
Holy cow I haven’t heard this in almost 30 years lol
I miss old days when I was a child now I’m 23 years old😭
Aladdin, Aristocats, Bambi, Lady&Tramp, and then Oliver an Company. Then repeat! That would be me at 6to7 years old watching these awesome films two times a day with my Grandma.
Not Disney but the pebble and the penguin, rockadoodle, were great too.
@@treatwomenright33 Had those to
Dodger was a dog, but he was one cool cat.
Still my favorite song of any music to this day
Hey guys, tired of listening the catching song, "We Don't Talk About Bruno?" Here's a catchy Disney song that kept in our heads and say yay, this song is so catchy a Billy Joel Dog just doesn't worry about anything just being a street smart dog! Now that's a classic catchy Disney song.
the beginning of the movie always gets:(
This song fr just hits different
This song was made in the 80s but It feels like it was made in the 90s
Yeah. Weird.😏
The movie originally came out in 1988, but it was re-released in 1996.
It's because it was in 1988. The late 80s and early 90s had a similar feel.
An all time classic!!! 😃
My all time FAVORITE Disney Movie 🤍✨
This is the fucking jam!
I love how they took something that would normally be dull realism - having to wash off after walking through cement - and made it the single most iconic part of the song or maybe even the whole movie. It makes me wonder if they had them walk through cement just so they'd have an excuse for Dodger to wash his legs at a fire hydrant!
2:21 how did I not notice that Pongo reference until 25 years after first watching this movie 😅
This Would Make A Good Live Action Like The Land Before Time.
Dodger owning the scene like a king!😎👑
👌👌idk if this was billy Joel love this song always in the back of my head 😂
I know at the beginning he says "yeah but those are mine!" But I ALWAYS hear it as "Dammit! Those are mine!"
I absolutely adore this movie but I haven't been able to watch the movie in over 20 years due to the beginning making me absolutely bawl my eyes out. To The point where I can't stop 😂😢 I love kittens too much.
Underrated
2022 here
I watched this with my aunt and my father at the end my father said:
It’s all fun and games until the dog catcher come
😂
I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS ON VCR
2:27 me too. But now, I have this on blu ray disc and 📀 last year from Walmart.
@@nathancruz9172 2:28 The song Ultimate Climax!!!😄
1:23 lmao Oliver!
1:20 Oliver... Look of Disapproval before it was cool
Ha
Its actually 1:23 when he gotten so puffy due to the air draft.
Dodger: Billy Joel
Sing us a song you're the Piano Dog.
Took me so many adult years to realize it was actually him
One my favorite movie
2:21 Cameo From "The Pink Panther (2006) And The Pink Panther 2 (2009)".
That dog worked that lip sync challenge
Yesss a classic !!!!
I literally watched this VHS till it broke. Back when Disney had the magic 🤙
2:53 I liked it how 🐀 sings the song.
"You wanna 'em? Come and get 'em!"😏
poor oliver when he got blow dried lmao
0:07 everytime this song plays from my Spotify
"You want em, come and get em wooooooooooowooo
Uhh huh but I'm warning you kid" every time
They should make a remastered version
My Nan had exactly two movies on vhs Oliver and company and basil the great mouse detective! I love this because it reminds me of summer holidays as soon as my parents left my Nan and pops were like” who wants to drive the tractor” clearly in hindsight it was just mowing the lawn but if you can back a ride on into a stable at seven probably not gonna take long to pass your test lol!
