My 204,000 mile 2012 XL had the starter replaced when I bought it from a state auction at a NAPA. Now it makes a horrible grinding noise for two seconds before it starts. Thanks for the video to help me remove it and see WTH is going on. Also thanks to you I’ve installed a Lariat dash ($100 eBay), entire burlwood center dash piece with auto climate, trailer control, and aux switches ($130 eBay) and also remote start and activated DRL’s.

Thank you, your video helped me get my starter out. In -28 Celsius weather I might add, making that tricky bolt - a very tricky bolt. Pulled out the 100lbs. propane bottle and a 125,000 btu forced air heater, and new starter in. I didn't do any of the checks but I'm at 320,000km on the truck and the starter looked original. Thank God it was the starter! Thanks for taking the time to make a video of what worked for you, It also worked for me. Cheers!

Question for ya. I have the same problem with my 13 f-250 . if I start it with the remote start and then try it with the key after the 10mins or so of it running, it won’t start with the key. Do you have any idea what it would be. Has full power just like yours did.

Anyone seen this? 2011 F250 6.2L with a weird starting issue. Starts normal when the engine is cold, but once it's warm, the starting takes 5-10 seconds, and sometimes I have to crank it twice. Every so often it makes this loud, awful sound like I tried to start it while it's already running. This noise happens anywhere from 1-3 times in a row, then it starts normally. The Autozone starter test said it was fine, so I had the Ford dealer do a diagnostic. They said it was a bad PCM and an ignition coil wiring issue, but neither of those fixed my starting issues. I'm about ready to start buying parts and hoping I fix the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    Oh yeah and FIRST!

Ive heard of this issue on the 2017 trucks and believe it was a fuel pump issue, but the 2011s arent known to have the problem. Still worth checking out. I would hook up a fuel pressure test gauge and watch the pressure on the hot start to see if its your problem. Not sure about the noise though

My 2017 f250 6.2 has the same problem, gets worse in the summer when it's hot. I did some reading and some say it's the fuel pump not holding pressure. Or some breather vent that's dirty, I do drive a lot of gravel so it could be.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone well, I was convinced mine was a neutral safety switch, til I found out it was inside the transmission. I watched your video and attempted to jump relay 48 to test my starter, nothing. I then tried to jump it on relay 101, Starter, to no avail. I’m convinced I’m going to replace the starter, but when I put both relays back in, she fired up perfectly…make any sense to you?
