I wonder if their idea of lean start up is to bring everything in house. While they are still making as many different pops they are maybe making fewer of each and then just selling on their own websites and not in as many stores. Alot of what they have now have more than likly been ordered 8-10 months ago so we might see things slow down after SDCC
Over here where I live - tons of businesses and vendors (at toy markets) are phasing out funkos, us included, they are just moving incredibly slow lately. The last three toy markets we were at other vendors were selling them at 5$ each. I remember two businesses reached out to me to give us their lot of funkos for free. We had to decline because we are having trouble moving ours We have 275 in our stock
Great video guys! yeah stores are getting out and some pops are surprising. I think great movies like red dawn but will it translate to a collectible?? hmmm
They do need to cut down on the amount of new pops that they announce every week. Right now with 20+ is ridiculous they need to cut it down to 10 to max 15. Some other things they need to do 1. Cut down the amount of pops per wave to 4 or 5. If there's more characters from that series you wanted to make put them in the next wave. 2. Stop making variations in flocked, diamond, scented, glow in the dark & metallic. If they know they want to make that version of a pop that should of been the base version of the pop. 3. Stop reproducing the same character with the slightest change and focus on making pops people want. We don't need 8 vaders, 5 grogus, 6 deadpools, 7 wolverines, 4 gokus in a year as an example. 1 pop per character a year (chases don't count as a different pop) you can go up to 2 if the 2nd is a con exclusive. Stores & people wallets can't handle or need all the variations. When it comes to distribution with over 3 millions subscribers & someone who's content is solely funko related the Canadian toppops could help solve the problem for Canadians & every other country that gets shafted with 1 video. He could show how hard it is for a Canadian to try & buy a pop that is exclusive to only the USA. Show how are selection is a fraction of what the USA gets, show how he has to get a friend or family member to buy it or use their address and then get them to ship it to him from them or having to go through a service where you pay for USA mailing address that they will then ship to Canada. All he has to do is point out how stupid it is that people who want to buy their product have to go through all these extra steps & ask funko to start allowing every country to be able to buy from 1 the funko shop websites & make it so every country can get every shared exclusive. People tend to understand & accept that the shipping will cost more when they order something from a different country, so stop with the b.s & just do it. They might even be able to sell more products at full price instead of selling on clearance or to a discount shops
I agree! The amount of coming soon pops has gotten out of control. That being said though, I’m not bothered too much by it because I don’t buy common pops - only exclusives of characters I really like :d
Out of my own curiosity, i checked out who was distributing the SDCC exclusive Wiz of Oz Wicked Witch/Winged Monkey pop in Canada..I was shocked that there was no distributor, In NJ, the walmarts have only a handful of pops on hand and really nothing new. Targets, Hot Topics, Box Lunch, Gamestops, and, of course, Five Below all have decent inventory. But even Target doesn't have the inventory that they had a few years ago. This lean, startup company (Funko) better start re-thinking all these releases. And the SDCC announced releases, IMHO, aren't all that interesting.
I’m from Brooklyn New York target still carry pops heavy but barns and noble is out completely I haven’t seen pops in months maybe a year.. plus all the local small shops are cutting down a lot
I have a large collection and I'd like to sell about 500 of my pops. Bad thing is, I live in the middle of nowhere SK Canada. It makes zero sense for me to sell common pops on eBay... After fees and shipping I might as well just give them away.
Big reason I stopped collecting anything new is the price and the fact that my basic living cost takes all my disposable income I litterly cant even afford pops until the govenment starts managing canada better to be honest
Kind of off topic but here in the UK one of our biggest Game Retailers "Allegedly" are stopping to get Physical copies of Games in unless you go in and order it or do a online order for store pick up I'm assuming. Maybe this is just a glimpse of things to come for all Retailers.
My local toys r us hasn't gotten a new Funko shipment for months at least. Same with Walmarts. Gamestop gets some here and there but they have still limited their amount of pops significantly. Hot Topic same situation, but probably gets even less newer pops. Can pretty much only rely on my local collectible store now.
I think between bots, scalpers, distribution, and the economy, people are just getting fed up. Retailers don’t want to pay to bring crap that’s gonna warm shelves, and people don’t want to spend on that crap anyway. The stuff people actually do want is being resold by scalpers. Finding good pops at retail is harder than finding wild chases now.
If Canada has to rely on Funko for Pops because of lesser Canadian retailers they will need to start shipping to Canada. Collectors that want Pops that are not as popular are going to have to purchase from overseas like Ozzie Collectibles.
Gotta say the Target, GameStop, Box Lunch and Hot Topic near me are pretty well stocked. I'm not much of a "mainline" collector as I just don't have room. However Funko still screws over small shops in the states. Still waiting on my Schoolhouse Rocks Law Chase for almost a year. And this is from a reputable store I've made a bunch of preorders from.
The big retailer in Oz is PopCultcha, but their Funko list isn't great at the moment, however EB Games has a large selection of new releases. I can't work out how that works Funko releases.
Because right now the only places I’ve left are selling Funko is you guys Game Stop my pops and showcase and sometimes the movie theatres of galaxy Cinema here in Sault Ste. Marie are sunrise records, not receiving no more shipment of Funko ever again
I'll tell you I am a vendor in Walmart's in northeast Pennsylvania. So I'm in Walmart's 5 days a week and they really don't stock too much. The store here that has the most pops next to GameStop is FYE. There's a reason for that though FYE is ridiculously expensive Commons are like $13 while other stores sell the comments for $12. Also their entertainment Earth and PX preview exclusives are $20. That's why they always have a lot on shelf because no one's buying from them.
It's bad in the UK as well no shared retailers for the con. Stores that used to have walls of pops down to a few shelves. As well as lines only being half released or pops getting canceled. Seems mostly the same in Europe to, looks like the US is the only place where Funko seem to care.
You know ive heard top pops say the same and it just blows my mind that funko shows barley love for Canada. Look we got a shit ton in America just come here 😆
@@jetman80pops I agree because it’s sad that people have to pay for a PO Box or ask a friend to use their PO Box in the US just to ship them Funko from the Funko shop like Funko should do international shipping to Canada
1000% comming soon is crazy but i think the lean start up is going to end up with funko being the only people who sell funko to keep there costs down and make a bigger profit !!
Because the Funko site has the exclusives with the locations like hot topic for exclusive. You can just order online. When you went to places like Walmart or Target, they were so broken. When you go to box lunch or hot topic they are nice. That's the issue. FYE was the best place back in the day. Now, their selection sucks. Sodas were opened. I think it comes down to FUNKO online is the place. It's pretty crazy.
@@KDogAndFish oh yeah, I agree with that because I bet once they get release they’re just gonna be sitting in the warehouse of Walmart somewhere in Ontario and if they can’t sell enough online, I bet they would just go and take them to the store
I agree Funko should slow down on the new exclusive slow down on the new comments. Now I know why every Toys “R” Us in Canada is not receiving no more Funko shipments and I just found out once all the Funko products is gone from every Toys “R” Us. It’s gone forever and I am surprised Game Stop is carrying target and Funko shop exclusives depends on the product because I’ve been seeing a lot of Funko shop exclusives going there especially target stuff
