    Interesting technique doing an reductive burnt umber underpainting then laying in the white. Gotta try that instead of doing a closed underpainting in black and white.

    Did you do un derpainting with the white only in the side of the face in the light. Did you did un underpainting at the other side? It is not clear. Please let us know.

    I don't understand the need for an underpainting. It seems a lot of extra work. Why not use colour instead?

    • @user-gv2sc8vf8p
      @user-gv2sc8vf8p Před rokem +1

      The colour will be added afterwards with glazing.This kind of underpainting helps to create a more dramatic look. It gives more depth. Also the transparent colours you glaze over a white base have much more vibrancy and are much deeper.

    • @ArtShare25
      @ArtShare25  Před 5 lety +1

      MilkyWay Production I think: “Silver white, linseed oil + turpentine + damma varnish”

      @@ArtShare25 can I use only turpentine and linseed oil ? I don't have other things .

      Silver Oil = PbO White (as Titannium white)
      You can search “Dammar Varnish” and Silver White Oil on Google, hihi

    Velazquez never did a white laying over his always warm underpaintings. Just saying.

      And this is not a Velasquez technique study nor I think it's pretended to.

      Para la primera capa usa tierra de sombra tostada. Y para la segunda capa blanco de plata (tambien puedes usar blanco de titanio), y como diluyente usa barniceta alemana (la puedes preparar con trementina, aceite de linaza y barniz damar en partes iguales). Espero te sirva.

    I'm sorry but how do you get the painting done? you are all over the place - the wonder of blending without the viewer getting the chance to see how it happens - I guess you know what you are doing? show it to us - we do not want to see another artist showing how good he is we want to learn the technique.

      @@mattyfromhell Like what? inventing the wheel again! It is a good tradition that the master teaches the scholar - but obviously, you don't know that - something someone did not tell you - now you know - but then you obviously enjoy teaching yourself but it must be frustrating - artist on the CZcams putting their work up showing the process want to teach - if not they would just show their final work - sometimes a master learns like when someone makes a request or gives critic - but you don't know that - now you know - maybe you should take on some teaching yourself there is a lot you obviously don't know - and again now you know Orvil said -" teach the children, open their minds - let them see the wonders of your life and you will be a God under men."

      @mattyfromhell Před 5 lety

      WOLF SOMMER How do you think the first masters got started? They taught themselves. If you can’t come up with your own way to blend and make it look good then I would be less focused on learning technical aspects and more on developing your own common sense and talent first 👌🏻 I just think it’s funny that the second one little thing is left out, you guys are like a bunch of helpless sheep.

      @@mattyfromhell Unbelievable how ignorant and uneducated you seem to be - and obviously, you know nothing about art and art history - art is not magic - it's not about keeping secrets - it's about passing on to those who want to follow - if you want to invent painting again do so - but if you want to run you must first learn to walk - but obviously you are the one in the room that believes he is the smartest of them all and your stupid enough to say so - not knowing every error you make weighs double - and you love showing off how stupid you really are .
