REACTING TO GFRIEND (여자친구) 'MAGO' Official M/V & 'Apple' Official M/V FOR THE FIRST TIME!! #여자친구 #GFRIEND
This sound is the main one for GFriend. Of course, there were experiments, but in any composition the recognizable signature of GFriend is preserved. If you don't plan to watch their videos in chronological order, then I recommend: Time For The Moon Night and Sunrise (in fact, this is also a trilogy), but explaining Sunny Summer, which is in the middle, will not be easy even for true GFriend fans. But I would recommend starting from their debut - Glass Bead (with dance practice, of course). You will see them at the age of 16-19 and see that even then their talent was impossible not to notice.
In fact, this song well defines the sound of Gfriend. Mago and Apple were concepts that they made probably due to the influence of the purchase of their company by Hybe and their last two comebacks were more focused on attracting the attention of the international public, which began to happen, but out of nowhere it was announced that the company was dissolving the group.
Violin and electric guitar, this gfriend type of sound is just right up my alley. It is gfriend's signature sound 'Orchestral-pop'. Their other songs with the same vibe as this one are 'Rough', 'Summer rain', 'Tftmn', 'Sunrise', and many more :)

Gfriend's music is unique and different from the mainstream kpop. Most of their songs are orchestral pop in style, but of course there are exceptions. 😉
I suggest you watch the dance practice of this song. When it comes to gfriend, watching their dance practice is a must!
Gfriend is well known for their knife-like choreography and synchronization, which makes their dancing so satisfying to watch! 😍

6:24 yess crossroads is the only gfriend's mv that doesn't have any dance scene in it. They really focusing on the storyline with this one
To understand at least part of the underlying symbolism, before this MV it was necessary to watch at least MVs: Fingertip and Time For The Moon Night. There is also a special introductory video - A Tale of the Glass Bead: Previous Story (the video was made specifically to introduce everyone to the events of GFriend Universe). But it contains a lot of spoilers for previous works.

but the list that i mentioned above for now was to recommend her where she can start for now and i would ofc have recommended her deeper as soon as she properly falls into the rabbit hole :))
Having watched GFriend’s final trilogy I think it’s only fitting that you watch their first 3 songs next which form their school trilogy. Their debut Glass Bead was about their time in school, Me Gustas Tu was about them enjoying their new friendships together in the summer holidays whilst the final song in the trilogy Rough was reflecting them about to graduate and leave their school friends and friendships behind. That song won 15 music show trophies and was one of the most successful Kpop songs of all time winning them the first ever Perfect All Kill achieved by a girl group. The choreography for all three were iconic and so enjoyable to watch.

Welcome to Gfriend storyline hahaha you just started backwards 😝 I fully recomend u to follow their work chronology, or at least watch Fingertip, time for the moonlight and sunrise. Plus the "tale of a glass bead" slt that they made once they enter to Hybe
I have to say that you are a wonderful consumer of music with your attentive watch of the MV details as well as the projected musical message. It is such a joy to see you here. Just to participate in the coversation with you here:
1. Yes, Eunha, who fell at the start here, is the same one who bit the apple in the "Apple' MV. And this is actually a callback to an earlier Gfriend MV.
2. The choice of the film color palette, mostly dark, almost suppressive, provokes the sense of passion, disturbance, agitation, very much in line with the theme of the MV as you suggested.
3. The turning back of the clock, or going back in time, is a key mechanism in the Gfriend lore. So you are very much on target. BTW, if you watch it carefully, you can also notice that train at the MV start moves in the opposition direction from the one at the end that could serve as another inference for this point.
4. Gfriend's music went through different phases. "Crossroads" is the ending track for their "Passionate Melancholy" era, in which their music, although carries an upbeat tempo, addresses more somber topics in life. "Crossroads" here indeed touches on the subject of tough choices one makes in life and how they can impact one's relationship. You may see why this piece invokes this conflicted feeling you described.
It's also noteworthy that Gfriend's music took on dramatic transformation after "Crossroads" with "Apple" and "Mago", underscoring the MV theme in their music career.
5. Although this MV is designed to be story-driven, Gfriend has a fantastic choreo MV for this song. I often think of it as art in motion. You should definitely experience it when have time.
6. Another anectote, this is the first MV from Gfriend after Hybe acquired Gfriend's agency, Source Music. It is interesting to hear your mention of BTS's "Run" here.
7. Gfriend's Orchestral Pop style is their signature sound that really sets them apart from other. You can really go on a ride with Gfriend if this is your cup of tea.
8. I think you are spot on the messsage of "Crossroads". Almost all the girls were in some state of conflict or dispute throughout the MV. By the end, only Yerin and SinB stood together when all others were shown alone by their chosen action during the MV.
9. You have an excellent synopsis on the theme of each episode (song) of Gfriend's "回:" (return or going back in Chinese) trilogy.

Thank you for this reaction. I really appreciated how you managed to get so many things right despite your experience of GFriend being still in its early stages. I really think that you will love GFriend more and more as you delve deeper into them. Their orchestral pop sound is almost unique in Kpop and sets them apart from every other group. Their choreography is legendary too with its perfect timing and precision producing such satisfying synchronicity to watch. I highly recommend you watch their dance practice as well as their music video for each song, as only then you can truly appreciate each song to the fullest.
This song has won 7 music shows, and of course it has choreography, and while it's quite different from the usual style of GFriend choreography, it's still excellent. But actually, you haven’t watched the dance practices for Apple and Mago yet.
I watched the dance practice for Mago,and the blindfold Apple. I can't wait for that video to be unblocked. Unfortunately a lot of videos get blocked :/
@@fonvibestv , this is good and sad at the same time. But only two girls did the Apple blindfolded (Eunha and Umji), but Mago blindfolded did all 6 girls at the same time. The ban may have been imposed due to Apple's blindfolded performance being filmed on the show. The official dance practices of GFriend do not cause blocking, that's for sure.
