- Blocking, rigging, art, depth, efficiency - these are all things that are affected by the location that you're filming in. The location scout is as important as it is underrated. It's where some of the biggest decisions in your scene and story get made. How do we light the scene? Where should the actors come from? Where do we put all the equipment? What you end up talking about during this meeting between your key creatives will affect how your shoot day will run.
In this episode, Kevin Reyes walks through what is going through a cinematographer's mind on a location scout and breaks down each department's checklist when it comes to scouting.

Please please please more episodes like this - about productions, rigging, communications between people. Even vlogs about your own episodes would help us a lot!
That's a great idea!
Best snacks for crafty... Red Vines and Sour Skittles. For over 30 years, I've seen those on EVERY set... your g&e will LOVE you for them.
Someone knows what's up!
One of the best videos you guys made!
Thank you!!
I would love to see what goes into the development of your lights, the engineering, the line of thought, the production, the problems you go into, it would be really really amazing!!
Awesome idea!
Something I love is seeing things in this video and be like “hey, that’s what we did” or “ooh I knew that” Makes me happy that I’m learning
this was an AMAZING episode... definitely would love to see more videos like this one!
Thank you!
Loved this episode!!! I would love to see more videos like this!!!
Such a lovely episode. Weldone guys
Great video, tons of great information.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful and informative videos. Carry on!
Great video! Tons of important information Thanks
12:11 - "Sometimes you're feeding your crew through their stomach..." as opposed to....??? LOL
But yes, I get his point! As someone who shoots almost exclusively indie projects, taking care of your crew with food and good "hospitality" is the way to go if you're unable to pay them well.
one of the best episode.. eyyyyy
Great video! One idea I'd like to throw into the ring is a video that goes over how to pack and travel with gear on a plane. What does your team do and what/how do they pack when they need to bring lights, cameras, batteries and all this gear onto airplanes. What are things you've found give issues and what would you recommend in a carry-on vs checked. Just an idea, would be a huge help! :) Keep being awesome!
Great episode! “Best way to learn is on set.” However, as a fellow Asian American, how do you get your perfectly coifed hair the way you do, Tue? Lol
Do you work with a lot of private locations? What do you like/don’t like about platforms like giggster or peer space?
Really amazing Overview from different perspectives/ roles in Set!
Thank you!
So which site can I add my location to movie Filming in Atl. I’m over 30 miles from Atl. But worth the drive … one location many scenes The Mill in Lindale
Im confused, difusión, flags and everything to do with light… isn’t that exclusive to sparks? As in electrician’s? Not Grip? Which I understand to be camera department..
What is 3-Point Lighting?
it is amazing how you use clips of others' videos. Is it the fair-use-policy? What is the secret for not getting a copyright strike etc. Did you really take permission from for instance slanted lens, etc?
kind regards,
Wait!? No Pizza? What the...
FFS! A "Covid Officer" that's a thing now!?!?
At what point will this BS stop?
Uhhhhhh yeah? COVID Compliance Officers have been on set since the Pandemic. Pretty important job to have right now, especially in areas like LA.
No mention whatsoever of the sound department’s needs. Typical.
Truly! And you wonder when they complain about us. It all starts with locations.
Depending on the response of this episode, we were thinking about making a part two with art department and sound considerations!
Lose the mask.. it’s over with🤷🏻♂️🧐🤦🏻♂️
Ratio
They're in downtown LA, the masks have nothing to do with Covid.
@@kurtlindner ha..sure
