Khmer New Year period: April 9 to 17, a total of eight days passenger train from Phnom Penh Railway Station to Sihanouk station. Departure on 7:00 AM.

Government can hire a few workers to clean the rubbish along the rails. I still have a lot of memories back to the late 1960s before the war started as a little nine years old boy and took the train with my family to Kampot then travelled on to Kep. It was so peaceful then. Most of my family members did not make it during Pol Pot and I just only have one sister left with the twelve of us!

Yes, I come and stay in Takhmao every year for six months to do some volunteer work. My sister still lives in Phnom Penh. I left Cambodia since 1979. I am retired now. Do you live in Cambodia?

We usually went to see some relatives in Soc Trang or stayed in District 12, HCMC for a few months and travelled all over the places!
HCMC can't take train travel around country anymore, you know why?

I used to stay there for two-three years and need to see Cambodia Railway in full service soonest,I suggest whom who concerns in this project consider Truck Rail which is popular in some state of USA now to rail in short distance or at tourist spot town this kind of travel use not very heavy accompany parts it use trailer cab truck instead of locomotive, Cambodia Royal Railway can make the coach by wood, it looks so good and may be the major point in rail trip and tour there, I think this will spend not so much budget. If interested in just try to see clip in You Tube, .

@@marshartdegen No way they will have a metro system anytime soon, at least in 10 years or even 20 years. A single metro line costs more than $1 billion which is approximately 5% of Cambodian GDP in 2018. Meanwhile they still have a lot to do with their infrastructure. Take a look at google earth and you will hardly find a bridge across the Mekong river. Not to mention a city of that scale does not really need a metro system at all. Making some serious effort to develop a decent bus system and Phnom Penh is good to go.

Any idea what the state was of the Cambodia Railways after the war?
Electrification is very, very expensive, so diesel is the way to go, simply because there still were locos available.
For your information, there are many railway lines with diesel exploitation, and doing well......
