Hello, I am an approved asylee, I went to Germany and came back with travel document. At the border I was questioned heavily and was told I need more documents and my own nations passport if i want officer to let me live in the United States. I was asked and told that I need my own nations passport, which I can not obtain, and finally-luckily I was admitted with a stamp on my document. The whole process was traumatic I was so scared to go through it all again, now I have no courage to travel again however my parents are in Germany I want to see them. Why is this happening to me

Hello Hasan. We are sorry to hear about your experience. If you traveled with a refugee travel document and still meet the definition of asylee the border agent should not have asked for your country of origin's passport. It's possible the border agent was new and did not understand the rules. It's best to carry a printout of the rules/laws from the CBP website that you can hand the officer upon entry if they question your status. I assume your country of origin is not Germany otherwise that may be what caused the problem. If you'd like to schedule a consultation with us to discuss how you can travel again in the future please email us at info@alightlegal.com

You can fly domestically without issue. For travel abroad as an asylee, you'll have to have a refugee travel document. I am not sure if special rules apply to flight attendants, and it likely depends on the country of entry, but some countries allow entry on a refugee travel doc without a visa, and others require visas.
