An excellent review indeed. Question: did the unit come with a 9 Volt battery already installed? That would be -- unusual? Or was it packed in the box separately? Or no battery at all? I understand there is no way to power this thing externally, like no 5 Volt USB input? That would be crazy. One would need to find some rechargeable 9 Volts and a a charger that handles 9 Volt batteries, they are rather rare these days. Now for the negatives. For one, the OUT cable is fixed, so you cannot change its length, you cannot use a TRRS versus a TRS male jack, and of the cable breaks -- what then? For cameras, you do not need or want TRRS, obviously. Two, there is a pair of trim knobs, but on the unit you cannot see trim leveles, clipping etc. Three, you cannot independently control the volume of the headphone connected. There does not seem to be a headphone amp in there. Even the cheapest of portable digital audio recorders will give you an input trim control and a separate volume control for headphone or line OUT. Not with this Comica. Four, the pre-amp only boosts the signal by a paltry 20 dB, which is really bare minimum these days. You ideally would want a 30dB or better boost, really. Something in the 30 dB to 50dB range. Considering all this, I am not sure how the $119 price is justified here. In fact, I daresay it is not, as for just a little more money, you can get a Tascam, Zoom, etc. portable audio recorder with not two but 4 XLR inputs, better (higher dB and cleaner) pre-amps, separate headphone amp/trim level control, etc.
It takes 9 volts if I remember correctly . It didn’t come with one I don’t think. If you can afford a Zoom then moving up to that would definitely be worth it.

excellent REVIEW,,, the examples MADE it good to DISCERN ! Outhear in my speakers all sound was Clear, I did not Hear any "noise static or buzz". LOOK for things in your studio that can INDUCE noise into your system, things in a Home like radios lighting wall transformers AC adaptors, door bells, power tool chargers, computer power supplies, TVs ( even when OFF) and or too close to audio mixers or amplifiers ALL export noise, into devices and cables. Move them around to see what gets better or worse. LOOK for a APP to put in cellphone that SHOWS the audio input levels it is receiving so you can raise to maximum saturation without causing distortion.

Hey man. Idk if you know if it's possible to have both the phone audio AND live monitoring with smartphone recording? I'm trying to record covers and having either/or is hard to do when I have to chose between live monitoring OR backtrack.
AFAIK and seen in another product demo, your can record to the phone or camera or camcorder and listen to a reference signal when you have a headset plugged into the unit. However, there i no separate amp or only a very basic one for the headphones, and there is no volume control (trim adjustment) for the headphone. Which in my book makes this entire device pretty much useless. I mean, maybe you need to dial up the pre-amp for the mic all the way, in which case you may hear a lot of distortion in the headphone. When trimming it down, the headphone level is said to be wholly inadequate.
can you use the monitor output while on phone mode?? I just got the saramonic smart rig and I cant monitor whipe on phone mode
When 1 channel of SM7b is connected, is the stereo input?

Thanks. It could be a very good review, but you did not give any chance to hear the noise in all these setups :( No pause in your speech, no silence at all. It is so disappointing, with so many mics and so useless comparison (for me)...
Also, using simultaneously two Large Condenser microphones will finish 9V battery less than in an hour.
