My M1 needs to get the keys sorted, some dont work after I replaced a broken one so i must have not put them back in properly. they are so fiddly, might have to remove all of them, clean em and put back again. Also so annoying how the metal case gets scratched and I don't see how you would repair them or touch them up. I like the wrap but dont want to lose Music Workstation logo/writing on the right side!
I’ve trapped and bent the leaf-switches before reinstalling keys. They’re quite elastic though and normally return to their required shape. The thin tang on the underside of the keys can catch them.
On mine it was a “MB81464-12 FUJITSU INTEGRATED CIRCUIT ZIP”. EBay from China. But don’t assume it’s the same on yours. Please remove one if you suspect it is the same problem and get the part number from the chip. Good luck.
I've swapped the battery on my M1 3 days ago. And for the past 3 days I've been trying non stop to MidiOX (&Bome) the Sysex back on. I'm ready to through the bloody thing through the window. Tried several cables. The last one bought by someone who'd left a review saying they'd used it successfully to use it to Sysex the preload back on. Double checked every setting in the process, tried every buffer/delay solution offered in the history of man. It sends. It completes. Go to M1.....still on "init". Nothing loaded. Giving up the will to live. Then I see your vid.....and you just pop em back on! Gutted! What did you use?
Hi. Sorry about your trouble. When I did a DX7 a few years back, I read that a lot of cheap USB-interfaces don’t talk well with the older kit. So I bought a MidiSport. Maybe it’s the same issue for you. But I used Bome also.
Quick question, when cleaning the keys, you say you're going to wash / soak them in laundry detergent . . . do you mean the stuff you wash your clothes with, if so is this better than simple washing up liquid ? I'm about to do the same thing, any tips would be useful.
Why on earth.. this machine has nothing interesting to bring to the table whatsoever... Only sampled waveforms, ie. no Real synthesis, and not even resonance filter!!

Nice job!
How can I look for the chips you changed? My Korg M1 makes a blurry noise when I touch the keys. I already checked the flex syntax and it's fine.

Yes. Just a bit of laundry powder and warm water to lift all the stains and remove the old grease. It seems to rinse off better than dish-soap.
@@Burfordstechstuff Great, thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go . . . I'm going to christen this 'Korg Soup' 🙂
Where can I get the original microswitches?

What page did you buy them on?

@@Burfordstechstuff In the video they show that they are made in Japan and here I say the page is from the United Kingdom
@@compaguitolo.D.T.C by the way - they were never “original” replacements. Just ones that work OK.

It's an iconic synth and sounds great! I like it as it's in so many songs from a good time in my life so lots of nostalgia !
