This video shows the perfered method of changing the oil on the 2008 Victory Vision. For more information on the Victory Vision please visit www.Vision-Ride...
One oil change does ALL the oil. Not like the 3 different ones on my old Harley. Another trip is puppy pads. Those stupid diaper looking things that you put down to train your puppy. Put one under the bike, it is waterproof (oil proof). Roll it up when done, use it next oil change. Love my new Cross Country
..Two tips, After filling the bike to the proper level with the Bike upright, with the bike on the kickstand check the oil level again. Note the level and scribe a line on the stick. It should be pretty close to the tip. theres your new full level and no need to mount the bike to check the oil anymore. About 1/8" on my 04 (6 qrts) Use only minimal pressure when tightening the dipstick as the o-ring does the sealing. Lessen the need to have to use a tool to loosen the stick.
I know of only two transmission issues that have occurred. One was self inflected when someone tried to shift while doing a burn out. The other occurred when the shift fork broke. These things do happen but are rare. I have 30,200 miles and it is still going strong. Ride Safe
Looked at every oil i could find and the specs on Victory oil is by far the best.I cant believe it but i couldnt find anything.Staying with Victory oil.
Hey Bro XC owner even your bike will need an oil change. This was a how-to video. You have the same motor. I'd you have never changed your oil it will soon fail. I'm just keeping it real. Great video thanks. Fore taking the time out to make it.
and this is why im buying a Victory; they are better engineered bikes than Harley. i watched a video on how to change the fluidS (three of them) on the Harley and couldnt believe how complicated and sloppy it was. Victory has one fluid for the primary, transmission and engine, SMART MOVE. there's nothing that justifies the price of a $22,000 Harley; they are underengineered, underperforming motos. this from someone who was sold on a Road Glide until i road the Cross Country.
I know of one rider that has 115,000 miles on his 2008 Victory Vision and is still riding it every day. He has never taken the engine or the transmission apart. Does the transmission "Clunk" into gear? Yes it does....every time I start off. The 2008 09 and 10 transmissions have straight cut gears that make more noise. The 2011 and newer drive trains have helical cut gears that are much quieter.
Thanks for posting this. Really informative and helpful. When you put the new oil filter on, you can just hand tighten it? You don't need to use the wrench?
Keem Osabe I would agree. I only use a wrench to remove the filter. Use a clean rag to wipe the area where the filter gasket makes contact with the engin. Use your finger to lightly oil the filters gasket. Put the filter on by hand and turn the filter a half turn after the gasket makes contact. Fill with oil, check the oil.....Ride, ride and ride some more!
The cup holders are Kruzer Kaddys. A friend bought a knock off of the Kruzer Kaddy and it was made of cheap pot metal that striped out. So beware and get a real Kruzer Kaddy.
It is a Kruzer Kaddy. They work great. Buy a real one and not a knock off. A buddy bought something that looked like a Kruzer Kaddy but was not branded. It was cheap pot metal and stripped out.
Victory has those parts in the kit to fit other motorcycles and equipment that they sell. I just put them in a parts bin in the tool box. I am a pack rat.
You realize they put their name on probably the cheapest brand of oil that they could make a deal with. It's not victory oil, the stuff you're using before AMSOIL is way better. Also switching different oils all the time cause sludge in engines. Because all oil brands have different additives and if you keep mixing them, It will create sludge
+Angel D I had one oil change or 2500 miles on a full synthetic. Other than that I have only run my Vision with Victory Oil. 37,004 miles and the engine and clutch is still riding strong. Ride Safe!
Many have had great success in their Victory with AMSOIL. I tried it and found that my clutch slipped a great deal when using it. I went back to Victory Oil and the clutch slippage issue went away. If the Victory had a separate oil chamber for the clutch I would run AMSOIL in the engine like I do many of my other vehicles. Please watch the video on other oil I tried. That is true but that is because of the difference in the Victory engine. There is one oil in the victory engine, not three. So when it is drained it removed the engine, clutch and the transmission oil from a single drain.
It is a hex 6mm. I picked up a set of Craftsman hex tools from Sears 10 years ago. I feel I use that set more than any other tools I own. I use them on my cars, the motorcycle and my bicycles. Get a good set that will last and take care of them!
You didn't do this right because you didn't drop the drain plug in the dirty pan of oil and cuss.

I like to put some fresh oil in the new filter before installing... just something ive always done and make me feel good.
Thanks, man. Great video. I just got my Vision, and I'm glad to see the oil change is easy. Love the bike. We got the best looking ride on the road!!

If your oil catcher does not fit under the bike, a 5 quart oil (new oil) container works great. Just slice a hole in the side. Um, leave the top on :)

Oil is expensive so I change it every 5000 miles like the manufacturer says. My Ram Ecodiesel has a 10,000-mile oil change
I use a longer Fram automotive oil filter and Rotella T6 5W40. Turns over easy and no clutch slippage.
Awesome vid teacher. By the way this is VisionNWrider formt he forum.
@manormyth77
My Vision does not burn oil. The light stays on while off to show that the light will work if needed.

Never ever ever *evarrrr* use a wrench to tighten a filter on. Hand tight- .25 to .5 turn past where it seats... is plenty.

You know man, great vid. Not to sound like a wuss but it is a really good idea to wear gloves when you're messing around with oil. Just saying.

Great IDEA!!!!!
My xc doesnt burn oil 15000 not a drop.think you need it checked out.

not sure if you will ever reply, but what cup holder you got on your vision? i got a 2012 arlen ness vision and i want a cupholder!
Thanks...
what cupholder do you have on your bike?
What do you do with the o'ring and second gasket that come in the Victory Oil Change Kits?
Victory has those parts in the kit to fit other motorcycles and equipment that they sell. I just put them in a parts bin in the tool box. I am a pack rat.
My Ram truck uses Rotella T6 5W40 oil.

That's a lot of oil

What size hex is it? I need to know so I can buy the right size
