I hadn't thought about browns being dirty yellows and therefore purples can be complementary for shading purposes. it's always interesting to hear your thinking about how you create a sketch.

Thank you so much for tuning in! I was just meandering with the sketch… commentary was pretty much off the cuff! 😊🙏

I hope your tests are favorable. It is so true that sketching and painting eases any sense of concern or worry. We get caught up in shapes, shadows and colors...a world all their own. Just yesterday I found that combining green and brown helped me to get the color I wanted for fern leaves that were in shadow! Hearing you speak of it today caused me to feel as if I am on the right track! I totally enjoyed this video.

Thank you, I shall know in a couple of weeks the outcome of my health check 🙏 indeed greens and browns are good buddies to mix and match for various nature-colors… it’s one of the best combination…😊

hi- learning a lot from your videos. friends with Beth☺️what can I buy to hold my paint like the white box you have and are those half pans and removable? Also do you recommend a fountain pen for black sketching as it seems you use, so the ink doesn't smudge when you add the watercolor after? Thanks so much and your large to small has helped me see things in a simpler way.

Hello!! Glad I am of service. I do recommend those palette that allows you to switch your removable half pans. You can buy Daniel Smith half pans and they do sell boxes that holds them. There are cheaper versions but I am not sure what’s available in US, search on Amazon might give you some options. Also I do recommend fountain pen, it’s a tricky one, too many options! You need to get waterproof ink such as DeAtrementis archival or Noodler’s but not Indian ink which will clog your pen. Let me know if you have any other question… Here’s the video to my favorite pen: czcams.com/video/aihfkQXrRQQ/video.htmlsi=AIJ0XMM6Szma59dG

can sketching be done with acrylics?
The paper doesn't need to be as fussy as watercolour paper

Sketching can done with anything, including coffee. Watercolor is favorite because its easiest to carry when travelling. Acrylic is very messy when you travel… but it is a personal choice…
