Saltatio Mortis is Latin and means "dance of death". They are a very succesful Medieval -Folk-Rock/Metal band from Germany. They use bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and Irish bouzouki to create the medieval sound. They have some great songs in their catalogue, you really should check them out.

I listened to one of their songs and I loved it! I’ll be listening to more of them for sure and thanks for the info on them.

Next song I would recommend: We Got The Moves
As someone who has seen many reactions, I always think 1 Video is not enough. If you want to stand out from all the other reactiors, you could try the Original, then Electric Callboy - WE GOT THE MOVES (LIVE 2022), and then the official Behind The Scenes. Electric Callboy are super fun and down-to-earth. You will love them even more.

In "We got the moves live in Denver" (also an official video by EC) the crowd goes nuts.

Its a Hurdy-Gurdy think of it as a Violin with a rotating bow and keys to pick the strings. thanks for the cover reaction. We got the Moves next pls.

This is my favorite cover of Hypa Hypa, I'm glad you liked it. The bagpipes are amazing, they fit so well. The instrument you saw at the beginning and couldn't remember the name of was a hurdy gurdy. Their live version of We Got The Moves is really fun, you gotta check that out (watch the music video first if you haven't seen it though).

Welcome to the awesomeness that is "Viking Metal" Saltatio Mortis are worth getting into. So talented. Another tongue in cheek viking metal band is Feuerschwanz, also worth a look!

You should have a look at the videos from Saltatio Mortis like Finsterwacht (German but with great English sub titles), My Mother Told Me, The Dragonborn comes (not the live version), Prey To The Hunter or Schwarzer Sand .

I said this before but I think the MV plus BTS plus live is a winning reaction combo! Indubitably more work but definitely stands out especially when these songs have been reacted to so quite often. Plus the BTS really show them to be just lovely, hilarious down to earth people, though I imagine it’s hard to react while reading subtitles. Still enjoyed when you did it!
And their lives are really excellently mixed- anything on their channel is guaranteed to sound good (shoutout Bollo, their FOH engineer).
You must see them live - I’m 4 times in and can’t wait until the 5th.

We have a bunch of medieval themed rock/metal bands here - it's a pretty popular genre! (I mean... still niche but like a big one lol)
Wbtbwb and Saltatio Mortis are my favorite covers as well :D
Thanks for listening to us! I think it was well worth a part 2 for sure 😊

If you react to another music video, check and see if there's a Behind The Scenes video, and a live video, because it's always so crazy, lol. Their live shows are fantastic. I'm definitely gonna go again if I get the chance.

Well done! I believe the Saltatio Mortis version and a real live version of the original were worth this second part!
I feel the same way about the EDM / house music remix. It's the weakest of the bunch imo, but I didn't want to foreshadow my opinion last time.
The live version in Cologne that you picked, was also where they got their first golden record - in case you wondered about the picture of it at the end. Highly recommend to do "We got the Moves" next.

If you liked the Saltatio Mortis (or SaMo for short) version, you should look into them, they are awesome. They mostly sing in German, but they have some very good songs in English too.
    My mother told me
    Pray to the hunter
The dragonborn comes feat Lara Loft
Finsterwacht is in German but has english subtitles, also the video is just ean epic movie.

I agree with a lot of the others that you should do We Got the Moves next, it's my favorite one. Very close 2nd is Spaceman, and if you wanna do a more dramatic and serious one try "Mindreader", as an Art guy I'm sure you'll enjoy the visuals and overall video.

Yes, my favourite cover! Love medieval metal, we have a lot of those bands here in Germany. Feuerschwanz is a great one, and they have a lot of songs in english.

I agree with you. I didn’t care much for the first one on here but the one with Satatio Morris is awesome! The live one is awesome as well. I would love to see them live I’ve watched a couple of their live concerts and they are even better! Some songs of Electric Callboy that are really good but not funny are Parasite, Mindreader, and Hate/Love. All 3 have videos on EC’s channel. I love the fun ones as well as the more serious ones.

i believe Saltato Mortis is known for sort of metal themed sea shanties. I don't really listen to their stuff personally. But it is a pretty good cover. :)

I discovered Saltatio Mortis through this cover
(BTW it is Latin for Dance of Death)
and I enjoyed this folk metal band
and this and the excellent Italian parody metal band
    Nanowar of Steel
    and their La Polenta Taragnarock
which mixes the northern Italian recipe of polenta
with the Viking folk metal - and is hilarious and scientific accurate too.
(It is in Italian but it does have the bagpiper from Italian folk metal band Folklore)
    czcams.com/video/Mq0IqiFXIZQ/video.html
    Enjoy!
If parody is a form of cover then Nanowar of Steel might be worth checking out.

I did like the remix by Gestört aber Geil (Deranged but Cool ['geil' has several meanings and can also be translated to 'horny' or to 'sexy']) but was disappointed by the genre standard video without EC appearing or any comedic elements. The Saltatio Mortis version is my favourite of the alternative versions.
There are quite a few medieval folk/ rock/ metal bands out there and Saltatio Mortis is one of the better known (and more successful) ones. Typical for the genre, most of the original material is in German, sometimes with Latin or Old Norse added, but SaMo and some other bands from the genre do covers in English too. Talking Latin, Saltatio Mortis translates to Dance of Death/ Danse Macabre.
"The Dragonborn Comes (From The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)" feat. Lara Loft (German singer & voice actress) and "My Mother Told Me" are some popular covers by SaMo, for an original check out "Finsterwacht", it's a long video but it has English subtitles.
Another medieval metal band, but mostly on the more humorous side is Feuerschwanz (foy-air-shvantz), who are currently celebrating their 20th anniversary. Their covers are from all over the place (they do those mostly as bonus songs for the limited deluxe editions of their albums and usually each member can choose one song):
I See Fire, original by Ed Sheeran, was the end credits song of the second The Hobbit movie.
Warriors Of The World United, original by US true metal band Manowar. They took the titel kind of literally by assembling some guest singers: Thomas Winkler (ex-Gloryhammer, Angus McSix) from the German speaking part of Switzerland, Saltatio Mortis (represented by vocalist Alea der Bescheidene [Alea the Humble] & Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum, The Dark Side Of The Moon) from the French speaking part of Switzerland.
Dragostea Din Tei (aka the Numa Numa song), original by Moldovan boy group O-Zone.
    Blinding Lights (The Weeknd).
    Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (ABBA)
    Valhalla Calling (Miracle Of Sound).
In regards to Electric Callboy: We Got The Moves. And PLEASE do both, video and live, for that one too. 🤘

the only downside of Saltatio Mortis for me is the lack of even short occurrence of Kevin&Nico vocals, it would be a nice touch.

Please react to To the Rats and Wolves cover of Drown by Bring Me The Horizon. It was a band Nico was in before joining Electric Callboy. It's a pretty cool cover and Nico's voice is amazing.
