This is a BONUS video, not a vlog. Panic not, the normal vlogs will follow. If you don't like these uncommentaried, real-time, slow TV videos then just skip this one eh? My other, normal vlogs have all the commentary you could ever want...
It's the bow camera recording in full of the journey seen in vlog form in vlog 177, from Market Bosworth to Snarestone at the end of the Ashby canal.
If you see the boat wavering all over the canal, it probably means I had my hands off the tiller while trying to film something. I wasn't on the gin & tonic, honestly...

Thank you for not spoiling your videos with mindless music like some other u tubers.
Why would anyone watch the dross you get on tv when you can get excellent, relaxing videos like this on you tube. Thank you David.
Just perfect, no cd. no music, just the sound of nature and the little background of the engine, i envy you David, this is just amazing, so peaceful, great video, as always, thank you so much!
I've enjoyed watching all your videos. I've gotten tired of T.V. and all the stupid programs. And I love these 2 hour videos. It brings back memories. Keep up the good work.
David, that was just so so wonderful. Such a relaxing journey, not racing through the cut, just cruising the cut, being at one with Nature. You are so lucky to be able to indulge in your great lifestyle. I am so so jealous LOL Thank you very much for sharing this with us.
The quiet enjoyment of canal scenery and cruising is a great addition to your chanel. Naturally, we viewers appreciate your 'reportorial' voice, the one that set the stage for this part of your life! Thank you for both phases!
I love the narrative of your blogs but also Have a great appreciation for the relaxation of the canal and natural sounds. Thank you so much for giving us both! I really appreciate them!
When your speeding along and can't quite catch up to someone walking there dog, priceless.
Thanks for another great video. For me this reinforces how beautiful England is. I lived in England (London, mind) for about 4 years when I was younger, and I felt people really under-appreciated the beauty England has to offer.
I have been ill in bed all day, just listening to the vlogs. Even without the visuals it is immensely calming and therapeutic.
I hope you got to feeling better.
David, you will never know how much you help me. I replay your videos in my mind while undergoing Radiation. Keeps me out of the unpleasant and into peace and beauty. You have given many a wonderful gift.
That is good to know (that they help, not that you are undergoing such unpleasant treatment, obviously). I wish you well.
Love how the birds sing in this film, especially the Black Birds, they are the ones that give me the energy in the spring and summer. Hearing both them and the ducks at the same time is fantastic.
Brilliant, just need a 60” monitor in front of my rowing machine now and we can have a race.
Thanks David it makes me feel like visiting this wonderful country of yours
I’m going out on a limb, not really, and say this may be your best video yet. As a youngster from Gainsborough, Lincs my dad used to have a boat on the Torksey canal. It wasn’t a narrow boat but we had endless fun on the canals and river Trent to Newark and Nottingham. I used to sit on the bow and soak it all in. I’m 72 now so this video is taking me back to the 1950-60s when I was a kiddo. I’m going to wear this video out, many many thanks!! Your finest work yet!!!
Cheers!
These are perfect. CZcams is replete with vLogs, but videos like this are rare gems.
Because of YOU and your wonderful vids of the canals, I have just returned from exploring the old locks along the Muskinghum River in Lowell, Ohio. Neat! I was able to understand what I was seeing! Thanks!
Excellent! Hope you had fun.
Ahh, lovely - I'm now looping this video on my laptop screen while working on the big monitor. It's like I'm working from my very own boat and living the dream!! Thanks again, David, another great vid :)
Thank you. It's amazing just how many people don't understand that's exactly the idea of this kind of video :-)
Absolutely love this, so peaceful and relaxing. 👍
The beauty never ends. I have seen this one in particular 4 times, start to finish. And with the Vlogs it is the same. Getting to know all the trees and plants, the houses and pubs. And above all the beauty of the canals and rivers, the landscape and animals. Idyllic. So wonderful! Thank you very much
I love these real-time videos! Sometimes I wish you just find a nice place to park, so we can have tea in the quiet, while listening to the birds and it's peaceful♡♡
After working in the machine shop, I come in ,cleaned up and start to unwind by visiting your vlog...Soo peaceful . Just puts my mind at ease...Thank you. Robbie
Keep coming back to this when I cant sleep. Absolutely love it
This video is so calming, stunning scenery, much needed during this current craziness.
Sunnyvaale
I've been falling asleep to this for a week now I love it so much 😊
Me too I never make it past 20 minutes before I'm asleep.... I'll never get to the end.....
I love these videos, perhaps even more than the ones with music and talking. I can pretend I am there.
The birdsong and sunshine, quiet engine and pastoral scenery make me so happy, thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this peaceful cruise. I love the ambient bird and other sounds. Hope your spring is wonderful!
So few people get to experience the awesome beauty of England. This is how life should be lived.
So loved this video that I sat watching this on my TV in wide-screen. 😃😉 I was born and raised in the country side but now live in the city, so miss the wide open spaces and quiet of the country side, but can't afford to move back into the country side. I would if I could. Please please keep them coming.
It is ASMR David. I've been using these videos for years. Help me nod off when I'm stressed about work.
Love this so much, just what my anxiety ridden brain needs. Thank you.❤️
Yes after listening to the neighbors around where I live and the sirens and all the noise all the time, this is such a nice peaceful break!!
Very relaxing. It is like going on holiday for a couple of hours
Another great not a vlog. I love watching the scenery just slowly go bye. Thank you David.
Your videos have made me realize how beautiful English countryside is...
I love these types of videos. Unfortunately the hum of the engine and the natural sounds of the English countryside has a tranquilizing affect on me and I tend to pass out before the end.
That area is very pretty. So peaceful. Looks like such a romantic way to travel.
Sitting in my chair in Nashville Tennessee listening to Marillion (Jesters Tears) watching your forward camera.. BRILLIANT!
Excellent choice!
i do love these videos, you just get a sense of calm, its almost like meditation.. I reckon that is what that noisy engine is for up the other end. Its stop you from falling asleep at the tiller..
Perhaps the most relaxing thing my computer has ever shown me. Lovely.
Just what I needed. Thank you David I love what you do.
Oh thank you so much for doing this for those of us who cannot be on the canals. It's exciting to see what's around the bend, can't thank you enough for this
Such an idyllic journey. The bird song is especially noteworthy!
The tunnel entry at 2:09.11, along with its dark reflection, looks like a black hole! What a wonderful video. The scenery you’ve captured is exquisitely lovely and interesting! A continual delight!
Great video - silence and nature are somewhat undervalued I think.
Agreed!
Looks so peaceful and chilled keep them coming plus I watch the adverts for your beer lol
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks...
Thanks for ride. Very peaceful. Watched while in my workshop. Blessings from Australia.
So lovely. Thanks for the cruise.
Lovely, David! Very relaxing I ended up taking a quick nap.
Perfect!
thank you for taking us along for this beautiful and serene canal trip. it was so restful seeing greenery [ restful and calming] .we all remained quiet for the entire trip . cheers ; ]
Thank you for this relaxing real time cruise. Peace!!
What a beautiful waterway. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Great video dave, just the sound of nature and the thrumm of the motor in the background and of course the beautiful view of the canal.
Keep posting these and I wont need to buy a boat..
I am saving this one for mental health days.... Hope you get compensated, for your aid to mental health. Thank you Sir. Cyber Cruising the Cut from the office. WHAT! No Locks? in this bagel...
I love these. Lately I've been trying to paint again (it's been decades) and the white noise of the boat and the natural sounds are very soothing while I'm working.
Thank you so much for these videos. First I click "like" then full screen and then sit back and enjoy a couple of hours of beautiful serenity. Also, thanks for the natural sound.
Skip this one ? Watched every minute. Just beautiful
lovely country-side you've got on your side of the pond.
Amazing! speechless of the voyage's beauty. It felts, at least for these 2 hours, like dream came through. Thank you, wish you to enjoy each second of boat life
the sound of nature is very beautiful especially when it is accompanied by very beautiful images of the English countryside thank you for this video of very high quality, but there was there a match of foot on television, because there was not many people on the canal, lol
Very peaceful and relaxing, I almost fell asleep a couple of time, but I did enjoy video and thank you for no music.
Listening while I work :D
Wow just stunning, loved the very wide screen, definitely one of your best, cheers :-)
I used to go on a lot of canal boating holidays as a kid, this brings back so many relaxing memories and the feeling of calm. Can even have it on in the background whilst working. Thank you.
Another “Stargate portal“ at 36:00! I’d call it Watergate,, but that name draws up such bad reflections, but this one only lovely! And yet another! I love these bridges. I love this waterway. Your skills are so professional. I always enjoy your descriptions, but here you say nothing at all. And here, nothing at all is everything. Just wonderful.
YES!! The joy of just cruising the beauty and peacefulness!!
Love this, well done. I totally get why so many narrow boaters love the Ashby canal...stunning.
This is so lovely. I have it on in the background on my big screen whilst writing and it's like meditation. Very calming.
They are beautiful and many people love them. I am one of those weird people who needs music or voice commentary. I live in the Rocky Mountains and have lots of nature, which we dearly love. I have played some of these silent crises while booking and baking just because it is beautiful, but seldom can even get through a whole video in one sitting. Crazy, I know! Very nice that you do some beautiful work for everyone’s preferences. Smiling
I love these. No music thank you.
Hello from NE Ohio. Magnificent, just Magnificent. Loved the tunnel.
This is one of the most serene episodes yet … the sound levels are perfect .. we are out in the country where the scenery is fabulous.. and it’s sooooo relaxing I’m going to enjoy the birdsong … Thanks for the Peaceful tranquility…cause we could all use a little right now ..!
Love the real time vlogs. On a 60" screen its like almost sitting at the front of the boat
Mind soothing. Greatly appreciated.
Rural Blighty' at its finest, this is just pure AMSR boating goodness 🇬🇧
This is incredibly relaxing and peaceful! I would watch more of these!
I keep repeating myself, but thanks again, Dave, for taking us along on another delightful trip !
We’re having a boat built, can’t wait for some of this p and q
The less things moving within your eyesight the more relaxing the journey, the vegetation has texture as opposed to brick walls, concrete blocks, railings and fences..
David, really like your videos, looks like a great life on the canals. Nothing like that here in the US. Richard
We have a few lakes that are big enough for "house boats" but certainly no meandering canals to go on and on. I sure wish there was something like it in the US, as I'd consider the lifestyle. But, it does make a holiday in the UK sound more intriguing.
Have the CRT given any thought of adding some grass carp into the canal system? They would eat a lot of the vegitation that grows along the banks. I simply adore your videos. Splendidly peaceful.
Good and Peaceful with the birds in the background
“Put on a CD....”. Lol. No cd can beat nature sounds. The crows are a bit cheeky though. Lovely.
Great to watch at the end of a hard days work
My, my David - aren't you the wiley one. A masterful ending to a splendid video, with that perfect down -the-center plunge of that long tunnel, then breaking out to a Hollywood ending by setting your cruise control to follow the lovely long-legged lass all the way to the very end - where she gracefully walks over your boat on that bridge, just to break out into the sunlight for one more eye-candy view. Brilliant!
Why would anyone not like these videos?
Played through my Bluetooth speaker at night, just perfect to fall asleep to.
I was just thinking the exact same thing!
That was FUN. Peaceful. Winding holes out in the country. Grass covered bridges to nowhere. A tunnel under a town because; A) we don't want a canal through town or B) someone ran the local brick kiln and wanted to make a fortune.
This may be one of my favorite CZcams videos, so relaxing. I envy you! I do enjoy your vlogs and sense of humor, but this is great!
I always had a fantasy of owning my own train, but if I did my personal carriage would be on the end with a sofa to watch the world recede, but if I owned a Narrowboat I'd sit in the front and pay somebody to drive it. I can't explain why I find the not-a-vlogs from the bow so relaxing, so recharging, I guess thats why you do it David. I'm sure its a lot of fun to steer and manuever and operate the locks, but if I could spend an hour a day just sitting, maybe with some tea, or a cold beer and a soft cushion....
A very pleasant trip down the canal. I was blessed to have a bird singing its heart out in tree outside my window. I even tried to wipe some bugs off my computer screen. No luck. thank you.
I am sitting on the front of your boat and going through some beautiful country. Sensational!
Serene. I guess a positive on a canal without locks that has many overgrown sections is that you can catch long stretches where there is little impact to just peacefully cruising along as you see fit. I do hope that that fly got out of your well deck sooner rather than later as he was going to have a lot explaining to do by the time he flew all the way home to the Mrs.
Where else would you want to be, on a lovely spring day. Except down the beach surfing. As always DAVID a good show. A tad long for me.🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍👍🥂
Made me smile. Rugged canal banks and a hello to every passer by, where else can we be that freindly. 👍
I get on the bus to commute to work , everyone says good morning and smiles, genuinely.
Beautiful footage and I love the sound!
Thank you for this wonderful tour! I had a classmate named Ashby. She was pleasant and pretty, but rarely as serenely quiet as this one.
Thought I was actually sitting at the bow end. Kept half expecting a shout from you to put the kettle on.
