We've always had ugly characters. Their complaints are that pretty, and especially feminine, main characters exist.
As another commenter stated, I miss when games felt like they were made by gamers. Not by Idealistically driven Hollywood wanna-be's. Long gone are the days of folks in their basement hand animating characters. (in the AAA industry at least)
Also the magazines & websites used to be just normal passionate nerdy gamers.

Because early developers were not gamers because there was barely games back then. They were computer scientist nerds that were dudebros. And all they wanted to make were gnarly games. They were only thinking about the fun. It’s one of the reasons why women developers ruined gaming. Or more specifically an over-saturation of developers being women ruined gaming. They turned male franchises into games for women or overly sensitive men.
And all of these women are the millennial tumblr weirdos. They liked games and anime but they were in their own community bubble separate from gaming community and anime community back then. “Im a millennial “

It's just a style that is dated af. She looks like the singer of some alternative rock band. It's goofy. I will admit it is nostalgic, in a way, but it was perceived as silly even back then.
The thing that irks me is there are women that have more square-ish jaws, i.e. Olivia Wilde, that are still fairly feminine / pretty. But now it's EVERY single character. It's akin to the hairstyle that every black character has to have now

It's pretty obvious that this is being done on purpose. I first started to notice the uglification of female characters back in 2014 with the release of Dragon Age Inquisition. It's only got worse since.

She does look feminine enough that you could imagine her being a real woman (there was a blonde actress that looks a bit like her). However, she looks almost 1 to 1 with BJ Blastkowitz from Wolfenstein more than any woman. Look up that character to see what I mean.

Why the Perfect Dark Zero art and not the original?
Nexus also bans mods and the creators of them that make the character pretty again. Let that sink in. Not only can you not purchase a product that appeals to you. You are not allowed to modify it as you see fit unless its approved.
I remember when the original N64 Perfect Dark came out and it was basically GoldenEye 64 refined to such a degree that pretty much no other FPS on the N64 could touch it _and_ it was original IP by Rare at the time! Sure, the single player campaign's story got a little off the rails once the out-of-this-world twist was revealed, but it was still fairly tightly designed exploration and a fun time nonetheless. Then Microsoft acquired Rare and released Perfect Dark Zero on the XBox 360 and it was pretty much a Halo also-ran with an okay-ish single player campaign (some would say undercooked, however) and redesigned Joanna to be more "extreme," for better or worse. I have absolutely no idea what _this_ is.

I find it crazy that in 2024 we're talking about how video game characters look rather than gameplay and I speak as veteran gamer of nearly 40 years
As for JD, the character has never had a set look going back to the N64 character renders. Even the renders used by Rare are completely different.
Putting real face photo mode and character customization in all of these games will solve this mess.
This is why I don’t want a Kotor remake.

PD64 is one of my all time favourite game (3rd or 4th favourite probably)
and i absolutely hated what i saw in that new trailer... none of what made PD64 great seems to be in there, it feels like it's going to be another story driven linear generic "realistic looking" FPS, with some of the PD paintjob splashed over it

I know it wasn't well received but I *loved* playing Perfect Dark Zero in the 360. I told my mom I had wanted a Wii for Christmas but she and my sisters got me a 360 because they didn't know the difference, so I was a little disappointed at first. That all disappeared when I payed Perfect Dark Zero which came with it. My friends and I had so much fun split screen with that game, and I always remembered Joanna's model was attractive even back then.

Starting to think that this was the reason why its in first person. That being said, the gameplay and visuals look amazing. As long as we don't have to look at her face for too long, then fine by me. Really hope this doesn't suck, because this seems like my kind of game!
