Jeff, you should send a copy of this video to the manufacturer of the pig trap. If a hog can physically jump out, than their trap design is deficient.

I have seen pipe rollers on the top of domestic fences to stop cats and dogs from climbing over the top. Perhaps cut the top rail and slide on some round pipe and weld the rail back. They have no grip on the rotating pipe.

Jeff I am in oklahoma(marshall cty) just north of ya. Im on pig #554 since Feb and have not had 1 jump out. 6 foot tall panels to the top! Panel covers entire gate that is exposed to the top. 6 foot everything. I do use the 2x4 horse panels. Nothing to get a grip on and they just cant get out. Good Luck!!!!

The pig brig looked short too. Did it have the internal cap installed? That design of an internal cap around the inner top edge that flexes (it has little resistance so they drop back in) would work for the rigid pen. Would need a bit of constructive thought how to do the gate well, it's the weak spot & piglet knows where it go it is where to try to get out. Worth the thought of being prepared when approaching a marginal trap. While 95% + of pigs would be putting as much distance between you as fast as possible the exception is worth thinking about when it's a big athletic boar that knows how to escape, and was a thinker that didn't crash blindly about hitting the walls.@@MuddyfeetTV

Now your cooking with gas Jeff I think you should put them stops on top all the way around your trap to stop them from climbing or jumping out HE will be back to your trap because he knows he got out before and he will climb out again and again till you put your stoppers on top and fool him REMEMBER THE BIGGER THEY ARE THE HIGHER THEY CAN JUMP AND THEY WILL !!

A wire around the top with a fence charger causing a tickle with anything touching the fence and the wire should deter climbers. The charger would be easy to disable for emptying. Charger, wire, insulators, and batteries should be less than a couple or three thousands.
It rained buckets here on Thanksgiving and on Friday. Sorry you didn't do so well on the trapping this week.

I have seen big boars get their snout under the bottom edge of the trap and lift the whole side and escape under the trap. I have witnessed this with my own eyes, twice. Walk up to the trap to start shooting and gone in 2 seconds. If the ground is not level, I don't put my trap in that area. There can be not even the tinyest of holes in the ground at the edge of the trap.
At the risk of coming across as odd or cruel, it seems to me there would be a way to market wild hogs EYEBALLS (no harm to them after slaughter). I was shopping at Galveston Island as a boy and I bought a glass jar, kind of tall and skinny jar, with a small octopus suspended I believe, in formaldehyde. Hogs eyeballs could be sold as curiosities that way; or possible more appropriately, in jars that originally held olives! Might be a hit in optometry clinics! Wild hogs trapped/shot should be monetized in every way.
Soon they claim trees. Ive seen other fence with the highest bar inwards. Here in Sweden they are protected to ruin for The farmers. . So The Boars are HUGE. Much Bigger than yours. Keep up The good work

Jeff from what I have been reading the ducks may be victims of the Bird Flu. There is even report of 1 hog and a human getting it. I have not seen a sparrow since mid-summer and my Cardinals have all disappeared. The only birds are a few BluJay's and a hand full of Doves.
I hope to get in a hunt or 2 before the season is over
