I think he will struggle to stay healthy as a starter with that arm timing. I wouldn't have taken him in the first round, even with the top of the draft stuff. That delivery has been documented plenty of times and it doesn't work out. His timing and arm action reminds me of Billy Wagner.
His arm talent is better than asa Lacey. The guy is averaging 100 mph on his fastball. Not just hitting it every once and a while but if he throws a pitch 99 you are wondering if his arm is tired.
Huge arm talent but does not look like he has had the production that matches his talent level. Which is troubling. Compared to sale and Miller who were dominate players in college. His stats are only good not dominant.
Yeah really tough developing star pitchers, but his fb and slider is nasty. I’m sure he wouldn’t have much trouble getting to the majors. He could be a josh Hader if starting doesn’t work out.
Xander yup this guy looks like a guy who has absolutely rapidly developed. The fears about control look obsolete. I don’t think if he was able to pitch a full year of college baseball this year that he does not get drafted any lower than number 1 overall. Spencer Torkelson is a really good hitter but he does not have a defensive position right now, so I think the tigers would have passed on him. This guy is making people forget just how dominant a reliever Aaron bummer is.
