I'm sorry Jay but your chest are one of the standout muscles in your body. I don't know why you think your shoulders overshadowed your chest, when in fact in the whole bodybuilding community as whole, no one has a side chest like yours (not even Arnold, imo). Arnold may have a big chest, but you on the other hand have a cut-out chest due to your deep side chest insertions. Self-view vs worldview, I guess.
Good advice. Too many people focus on the flat bench when they really should be focused more on incline for the upper pecs. I find that 1 of the best exercises for upper chest development is decline push-ups with rings. Just grab a bench or chair and put your feet on them while doing ring push-ups. You'll get a really good pump
@@karlhungus8053 🤣as a guy that has been lifting for almost 12 years I can say you don't even need a gym membership and expensive supplements to get a nice looking physique, you just gotta be creative😉😋
Couldn’t agree more. I find I’m getting a way better pump and mind muscle connection doing iso lateral movements. It really helps with muscle imbalances. There’s no help from the dominant side.
@@fishfan2 I started doing dumbells over regular flat bench and it progressed my bodybuilding folds over barebell. But I do hit incline and focus on contraction like Jay said and it’s made a huge difference in my upper pecs! I think Jay is the only person that I have heard who says "focus on repetitions". Cause I've heard that a lot that I should focuson the quality instead of the reps
My chest is also my stubborn muscle. And my shoulders do most of the work doing chest day. If i dont concentrate on activating my pecs, its 90% shoulders
Great to hear Jay mention push-ups, if you can yet do 30-50 reps for multiple sets heavily invest your time into improving them, I could do 2 plates for reps on bench and still had basically no chest and pushups gave me significant pec gains without having to keep grinding my shoulders into dust adding kilos to my free weight movements
Dumbbells are better for building size. The way I see it is for building strength use the barbell, for building muscle use the the dumbbells. The barbell is better for strength obviously because you can put more weight on it but the dumbbells are much better for building muscle because its more challenging and it has much much deeper ROM and it really stimulates your stabiliser muscles.
@@Wishmaster787 this is true I'm just mentioning that pushups can give very substantial pec gains if one hasn't already added them to their training, don't overlook them
Jay says his most stubborn muscle is his chest. My most stubborn muscle is all of them but I’m still training hard. Thanks for all the training tips they are helpful.
For what it’s worth dumbbell pullovers was the exercise that finally got my chest to achieve shape. Go heavy (same weight you DB press) and be consistent. You won’t get a typical ‘chest pump’ but it really makes it grow.
My shoulders are probably my most developed muscles on my upper body as well… but my chest is underdeveloped especially my upper chest… just as you said I’m struggling with my shoulders not dominating the workouts. I’m a complete beginner to lifting though… I just moved and there is a private gym right next door so no more excuses.
Actually feels like he's giving the tip directly to me because all my muscles grow alot quicker then my chest... Especially my legs they are the easiest in my opinion..
