    Great video. Smooth, focused, didn’t cut a lot, no wind noise and no freaking music or stupid commentary. Really enjoyed this thanks!

    When I was about 10 years old I saw a movie about the AVG in China. I fell in love with the P-40 and it's been my favorite aircraft ever since. PS, I'm 84 now.

    I joined the Navy 77..as a mechanic but ended up as a mech on J52-P408 Jet Engines. Dad was a CBI B25 Pilot so aviation was in my blood BUT as a engine mech not a pilot. With that said and coming from a US Navy EA-6B Jet Engine mech, there is NO better sound than a recip...none!
    Miss ya Dad

      @SOILFIT - I realize this is a year ago, but the sounds are amazing.
      Agreed - thank you both for your service - and to all the men and women who volunteered to protect our great nation.
      I was just commenting on a Reno Air Races YT channel there is nothing more satisfying, more intimidating, more impressive than the sounds of a "Big Stick" coming, when 15+ Unlimited Class warbirds (P51, P40, P38, Bear Cat, Spitfire, and others) in formation over the city of Reno, and dropping when hearing the words (when I went to the races) from Bob Hoover "gentlemen, we have a race ...". Godspeed

      @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent Před 3 lety +4

      Outclassed by a good number of high end fighters in the war due to a lack of a supercharger except for the ones that was made in or around the same time period that the P-40 was primarily built in. However the plane was no push over. It had good climbing and turns but what it was best at was diving, it was outclassed against the Zero for example but a shot from a P40 from a dive store zeros apart and that dive and speed and endurance allowed the P40 to outrun zeros as the lighter plane couldnt catch up. The BF109 and the Spitfire would have been comparable to the P40 with the P40 being heavier a little slower and much more durable. However it was rated as a air-superioty and it raked up kills in many countries airforces and was a excellent ground attack fighter. Fun fact it outclassed almost every early italian fighter. Given the P40 was essentially the average fighter plane for early to.mid war and apparently it outclassed the italian planes by a wide margin that kinda gives you a hint at absolutely how horrible the italian fighter craft were. Many pilots became aces with the P40 so it was a great fighter. At least it looks absolutely bad ass with its shark face. Something even a p51 or a spitfire cant pull off

      @@UnknownPersononGoogle You mean the Italian fighter that was introduced late in the war? around 42-43? I said early to mid war. not late. by late pretty much any fighter outclassed the late 30s era Warbird. So sorry your favorite little bird still doesn't change the fact early to mid italian birds were rubbish compared to the P-40

      20alphabet The Merlin used in the P40 F & L was the Packard V165-01 which was STILL a single stage supercharged version, just as the Allison was and it made NO difference in performance, other than a slight increase in service ceiling !!! No faster, did not climb any faster !!! ! Facts check the performance figures USAF...
