First time the hinge work well but if the laptop will be open tighter ( and this will happen ) then you can break around plastic of your device. If you want avoid this then you should some loose a screw of hinge (the screen must hold angle from 45 degrees of opening or some more for your comfortable use but ease opening) and add little oil to friction points of hinge . I did this on my gaming laptop and office laptop ( My last laptop don't have any screw then i just added little oil ( for chain ) in every hinge. ) It is good work five years and opening by one finger.

This is not the permanent solution , the cause for this problem is air vent in front of the screen , it is wrong design by Dell, the air vent must be below the key pad , the solution to it may to provide a duct connected to that air vent through the screen for exaust.

Dell Service centre Boys have very bad behaviour. First they open my laptop very badly. So the key board frame gone break. So i predict that if I give them the laptop then they will destroy it. When I say to fix this like before. They argue me that we can't do that. That's your responsibility. I say about the Dell Centre Jajpur Road , Odisha. Better you go any other store and ask him to repair to inforont of you.

can you replace the hinge without replacing the whole screen? the hinge won't let the screen open, but I don't think the screen is broken at all.
